"Steam is not optimized for your Mac and needs to be updated" every time I reboot. Posted: 04 Sep 2019 10:36 AM PDT Any time I reboot my MBP (13", 2016, 10.14.6), I get the message in the title. Trouble is, I don't have Steam installed anymore. I had it installed briefly just to see how it would run games (not well!), but I'm not using it to game so I removed it shortly after and it's been removed for well over a year. Anyone know where I can look to remove whatever is still lurking that MacOS thinks is still there? Just a minor annoyance, since I don't have to reboot that often, but I forget about it every time until the alert pops up. Just had a couple updates and rebooted so it reminded me I should look into how to fix it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Sep 2019 07:34 PM PDT Hi! I was looking to purchase a new IphoneXR however, I understand that the next Iphone might be getting released soon, so I was wondering if I should wait for the price to drop/ if it will drop at all following the release. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Sep 2019 09:10 PM PDT It happens over and over again: she'll get a new pair and they eventually develop the same problem. We can hear what she's listening to from across the room and when we tell her to turn it down she says its barely loud enough to hear. Ive checked the volume and she doesn't have it crazy high, but fir some reason a large percentage of the sound is audible to us and to her its a bit muffled. Ive tried her earbuds in my phone and in my ears and they do seem to sound a bit "different". Apple has replaced them twice for us because its happened twice in nine months. But it happened several times before to her too and we just didnt think to bother having Apple replace them. Has anyone else hd this problem? [link] [comments] |

Apple store claiming I made unauthorized modifications to my iPhone Posted: 04 Sep 2019 08:06 PM PDT A little less than a year ago I bought a brand new iPhone from Best Buy. Fast forward to now and my phone won't charge or start. I took my phone into the apple store and they run some diagnostic tests on it. They are saying that I have done unauthorized modifications on the iPhone which is voiding the warranty. I literally have not made any unauthorized modifications to my phone. The only apps I have downloaded were mainly social media apps from the apple store and nothing out of the ordinary was done to the phone. I take my phone to Best Buy where I originally purchased the phone and they run their tests and also are saying that there are unauthorized modifications done to the phone. How do I get this resolved? The phone should still be under warranty and how were unauthorized modifications done to the phone? Is it possible that Best Buy sold me and open box phone while pretending that it was a brand new unopened phone? [link] [comments] |
Need helping locating my lost iPhone's serial number (can't remember Apple ID) Posted: 04 Sep 2019 10:26 PM PDT My phone was lost and I've just recently created a new Apple ID, since I use faceid for everything I just never had to type it again. Now I can't remember the Apple ID, can't remember what email I used and don't have the box anymore. Also tried contacting my carrier and they don't have the serial. I need the serial number. The only thing I have is the IMEI because its on the phone's receipt. Is there any other way I could find my serial number? I was hoping an app could maybe have that information saved somewhere, like facebook tells me what device I'm connected to but no info on the device, maybe you guys would know something. I appreciate your help. [link] [comments] |

Cannot unlock my iPhone 6 Plus Posted: 04 Sep 2019 07:52 PM PDT I recently switched phone carriers, from Virgin to TELUS. My phone was originally locked to virgin and I was using it with a virgin SIM card and there were no issues at all. Now, when I want to use my Telus SIM card, it says that the SIM card is not supported. I live in Canada so unlocking is done for free by your carrier. So, I called virgin to have them unlock my phone so I can use it with Telus, but they said that this phone doesn't belong to them? I'm confused because I was using the phone with a virgin SIM card and it was working fine so I'm not sure why they would say that. I also called apple and they told me the carrier of my iPhone was bell (same company as virgin). I called bell and they also said the phone doesn't belong to them either. Does anyone know what is going on? The same issue is with my dads phone as well. [link] [comments] |
Is “Erasing via find my friends” have the same security effects as factory resetting? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 11:59 AM PDT Hey, one of my IOS devices broke running iOS 12, I reset it via find my friends. I plan to sell the broken phone. I heard factory resetting completely disposes the encryption key making any data impossible to recover plus it also overwrites data. Will erasing a device via find my friends have the same effect as factory resetting? I don't want some dude accessing my personal data with some data recovery software. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Sep 2019 07:23 PM PDT So, I couldn't boot back to OSX via the Bootcamp deal in Windows. Everybody told me to reboot and hold option or whatever and that worked a COUPLE times but then I couldn't get the computer to recognize the OSX HD WHATSOEVER. So I've been stuck on Windows for like a year and a half which was fine because games. But that drive just took a shit. I still have OSX on my SSD but when I plug it in and boot the computer it says no boot drive is available. What are some hard core measures I can take? Reset PRAM? Any buttons on the motherboard to reset that? I don't care much about the windows drive at this point aside from some data on it I'd like to transfer off if I can but when I boot now, I get Apple chime, and then a black screen with a dashing command prompt like a full screen cmd prompt and typing anything on the keyboard does nothing. The computer was making a ticking sound prior to me rebooting it so I assume the HD took a shit. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 6s won't charge? Am not tech-savvy Posted: 04 Sep 2019 07:07 PM PDT Sorry for the long post read, just stating the timeline. So, I woke up this morning and I realized that my phone was kind of warm (unusual), but didn't think anything of it. I used it to get to school (gps). It was 100% when I left home, but it decreased to 40% by the time I arrived at school. That was weird since it usually loses around ~10% (90%) to use that function. So I changed it to low power mode. But even as I was using it after that, the battery dropped really quick. At one point, it dropped to 13% in less than an hour, which really freaked me out, so I turned the whole thing off and let it rest for ~5 min. I turned it on again, and found out it had dropped to 10%. So I just turned the whole thing off again and left it in my backpack (that was the last time the phone was on). After a while, I took out my phone and expected it to have cooled down in a timely manner, but had noticed that it had warmed up. I properly let it cool then charged it, but it won't turn on no matter what. I've tried to hard reset it, change chargers, etc. I even tried to connect the phone to my laptop but nothing happened. I went back home and checked my location from a friend's find my iphone app, and it still says that my phone is at school. I'm guessiing that I never properly turned off my phone last night, which is why it was warm this morning. I don't know what to do? Has anybody had a similar experience to mine? What did you do? I bought the phone for ~$150. If I'm looking for somebody to help with battery replacement, what is the quote/ (price range?) that I should be looking for? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you. Iphone is probably done, but figured id ask in case anyone knew what to do Posted: 04 Sep 2019 11:27 AM PDT On 9/3 I noticed that my iphone 7 (about 2.75 years old) was restarting on its own for no reason, and then would not connect to service because a carrier update failed. I check for an IOS update and there was one available so I updated it, clearing some storage space on the phone to make room. Seemed to fix the service issue for a few minutes until it restarted itself again. The cellular page in settings was just a blank white page so I could seem to update it. I had this problem happen before, so I backed it up on itunes, and restored it to factory settings with the intention of restoring the backup. But after it was back to factory settings itunes would no longer connect to the phone, it would charge when plugged in but itunes said it could not pull information from the sim card. Even when connected to wifi the phone could not activate and gave an error saying that the apple servers were down. I tried a few times to get it to work, sometimes I would get an error saying it required an update. I did a hard reset on the phone (holding down volume down and home), tried resetting it a few times. Reinstalled itunes. Still, nothing works. It is also worth noting that when I take the sim out it will still say searching for a while and never say "no sim" just "no service" I did not get any sim not compatible errors or sim failure errors but it seems like it thinks the sim is in even when it's not. iPhone 6 can't detect Sim Card untill it is rebooted Posted: 04 Sep 2019 06:31 PM PDT Hi guys, I've got a seemingly abnormal problem with my iPhone 6, where it has trouble detecting Sim Cards. So, if I boot the phone with a Sim Card installed, the phone will detect it normally and such (I get service, and the ICCID number is visible in Settings). However, when I take the Sim Card out, it takes maybe 20-30 seconds for the phone to realize that the Sim Card has been removed, and the status changes to "No Service" (although the ICCID number disappears). At this point, if I reinsert any Sim Card, the Phone will take about 5-15 seconds to detect it and connect to the Cellular network. However, If I don't insert a Sim Card for a couple seconds after removing it the first time (anywhere between 15 more seconds, to about 60 seconds), I then get the message saying that there is no Sim Card installed. At this point, the phone won't read any more Sim Cards unless I reboot the phone. So I'm 99% sure this is not hardware related, and purely a software problem, but I am unable to update to iOS 12 because of work related apps that require iOS 11.1. I have tried using different Sim Cards, resetting All Network Settings, Factory resetting (3 times in fact), but nothing seems to change it. Also, if I insert a new Sim Card before it changes from the bars to "No Service", I get an invalid Sim error, in which case the phone refuses to read new Sim Cards unless I reboot (ICCID of old Sim card is visible in settings). If anyone knows of a solution to my problem that won't force me to update to iOS 12, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Sep 2019 06:12 PM PDT Hi I tried everything I could to make my phone brighter after the replacement of the screen . The warranty don't accept to replace thanks to a small but deep scratch I tried toggle the autobrightness and things like that but still hasn't enough brightness for daily use. The thing is that when I restart the device the apple logo appears on a brightness mode that's usual. After 3 or four seconds the brightness goes off and start being the unusual dimmer. Is it a normal bug or something or I must change the screen again. I'm quite low on budget. Keep in mind I'm talking about an iPhone X Thanks for the attention! [link] [comments] |
Contacts app crashing when clicked on "My Card". Posted: 04 Sep 2019 05:49 PM PDT Hey everyone! I've been facing this issue since the last couple of days. Even if I create a different contact and set it up as "My card" or "Me", the app crashes. Other contacts work just fine, it's only my card I'm having trouble with. *UPDATE* I tried to sign out from my Apple ID, after that the iPhone is restarting endlessly. It boots to the home screen and restarts in about 30 seconds. Model: iPhone XS iOS Version: 12.4.1 [link] [comments] |
MacBook Air stuck in update loop updating to Mojave Posted: 04 Sep 2019 05:24 PM PDT I recently attempted to update my MacBook air to Mojave, but the update keeps failing at 33-29 minutes left. When it fails, it'll restart and take me back to the login screen from. Once I type in my password, it loads for a minute or two then goes back to attempting to update. From here it just does that loop. Gets to 33-29 minutes, restarts, takes me to login, I login, it goes back to attempting the update. I've tried a "force restart" ( Command, Ctrl, and the power button ), but it didn't help. I also didn't get the Mojave update UI until I let the battery drain then charged it again (Before, when I first started the update, it would just show a black screen with the apple logo. See the last image in the album). is there anything I can do to get the computer working again? Thank you. Images: https://imgur.com/a/voEA14M [link] [comments] |
