    I've been a Windows user for most of my life and since i started my software engineering degree i switched to many linux distributions, from the first time my Ubuntu 16.04 booted up and i started to use it i immediately decided that i'm not going back to Windows ever again (maybe for some WPF related projects only) but the thing with Linux based OS's is that it's still, even in 2019, not ready for mass desktop use.
    Gnome is slow and buggy (even the newest versions like 3.32.2),
    KDE is too complex,
    Unity (Uduntu's exclusive) is dead since 16.10,
    So as many people do, i started my distro-hopping journey to find a distro that works best.
    After almost 2 years of testing almost every linux distro i ended up with a conclusion that linux for desktops is not there yet.
    Im a simple man, i need something to just work.
    Don't want to worry about my OS not booting suddenly or not going to sleep properly when i close the lid of my laptop.
    I don't want my apps to crash suddenly and new updates to ruin my OS.
    So i decided to buy a MacBook.
    3 months ago i bought this sexy lookin bad boy (13 inch 2014 with i5, 8g ram 256gb ssd) and i started to use it full time.
    And im in love with this machine and this OS. i think this is the definition of "It just works".
    Buying it was my best decision ever.
    Why i haven't bought this earlier? Maybe because of all this criticism about apple products being overpriced got into my head years ago and steered me away of even thinking about buying a Mac.

    How do you remove these dmg disk image volumes from desktop? I downloaded these 3rd party apps on the internet, and instead of being a normal application it installed in my desktop. If i eject these things, the dmgs will be deleted. Help

    How to adjust cursor blink rate in webkit, not NSText?

    I know you can adjust cursor blink rate in NSText apps (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appkit/nstextview), using

    defaults write -g NSTextInsertionPointBlinkPeriodOn -float 200 defaults write -g NSTextInsertionPointBlinkPeriodOff -float 200

    But how about non-NSText apps? I read from (https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100706) that Safari, Pages, etc may use webkit to render text and cursor. That post seems to say it's impossible to change it. Does anyone have any idea how to change cursor blink rate in webkit?

    Can the default color profile be changed?

    Out of curiosity and boredom I opened up the "Color LCD" profile and looking back I'm very worried that I accidentally messed something up. This is on a 2019 MacBook Pro so the display was factory calibrated. Everything looks fine but I was wondering if there is a way to tell if this profile has been edited?

    wifi ping get high if I use extended monitor

    I am using MBP 2017 13inch Mojave 10.14 with extended monitor connected through USB-C - displayport cable. I don't use any dongle, so signal interference is out of rule.

    Before yesterday, everything is working fine, but yesterday I am playing with https://github.com/PBMacDev/ControlPlane/tree/mojave, I cannot download the released build, so I tried to build it on my own using Xcode. the build is successful but the app seems broken(?) so much GUI assets not showing.

    I am giving it a try though, so I try to make a ControlPlane
    launch an app if I connected to my home wifi, after that I suddenly cannot browse anything though still connected to my wifi. but if I change to my personal hotspot everything was working fine.

    now I reinstall my mac and delete the whole drive before, but the problem persist. pls help :(

    I have a very new iMac with quite a bit of ram 16 gigs and would like to use it for gaming however I don't have the money to buy any premium service for using windows and I have lots of important photos and files that are priceless to me on the computer is there any safe way to get a free version of windows 10 without damaging or deleting anything?

    [MacOS Catalina Beta 5] Random crashes

    Anyone else experiencing heavy random crashes to the point where the Mac isn't really useable beyond about 20-30 minutes intervals? I experience crashes way more frequently than that, though.

    The crash reports are from Spotlight and sometimes proeventtracker, where the latter is usually a .diag file with minimal text in them. Sometimes no log at all.

    Anyone else experience the same thing? I've tried deleting the photo library to make the crashes stop per this thread but no luck. Crashing persists

    I used to have crashes due to SIMBL and after deleting the app The Unarchiver (which utilizes SIMBL) and SIMBL itself, those crashes stopped. Yet I still get random crashes very, very, very frequently.

    Other people in the same boat?

    HDMI Emulator no longer working on headless Mac Mini after 10.14.6 update, anyone else with display issues?

    So I have a 2012 Mac Mini that I use as a media server and log in using Screen Sharing to administer it so it doesn't need a monitor. However, I have an HDMI monitor emulator (like this) that "fools" the computer into thinking there's a monitor connected so it will enable and use the integrated graphics card for some transcoding.

    After the Mojave 10.14.6 update however, it no longer seems to recognize the device when it's plugged in. It recognizes just fine on my MacBook Pro, so the device itself seems fine.

    I've tried rebooting, clearing PRAM and resetting SMC. Anything I could be missing?

    Macos keeps changing .service files to .service.app

    How can I make MacOS stop changing .service files to .service.app? Every time I change it it changes it back.

    These are service files for Linux I'm working on so it needs to be .service.

    Latest MBP 13 overheating

    Okay so, this MBP that I got 2 days ago gets really hot real fast. I was browsing for no more than 30 mins on my bed and it was hot even on the trackpad. Anyone else having this? I have the base model 8gb 128gb

    MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2016) Blinking ? Folder

    I'm hoping that the Reddit community can help me troubleshoot my wife's MacBook. Her Early 2016 MacBook would crash randomly and now when booting gives me a flashing question mark folder. I'm not overly familiar with Apple troubleshooting steps - especially with a device where I can't remove parts to isolate the issue. Thanks!

    Edit: I have reset the NVRAM and PRAM and the SMC.

    Edit 2: I have no data that needs to be saved or recovered.

    My work MBP (High Sierra) takes like 2-3 minutes to login after entering my password. I suspect this is because it might be trying to talk to my work's active directory and the VPN is naturally not connected yet, or perhaps some other antivirus or backup software taking a long time to launch.

    I am an 'Admin" on my computer but it is 'Managed' so sometimes an option will be unavailable to me in system preferences etc.

    I'm wondering if there is any way to log what is going on during login so I can see if can find the culprit causing such slow logins.

    Safari keeps crashing/freezing

    I've noticed lately safari keeps crashing upon loading websites like YouTube. It's random and can happen repeatedly. Also, when I open up Facebook, it freezes for a good 30 seconds before I can scroll or do anything. I've noticed overall my Mac has been a lot laggier upon logging in, opening apps, etc.

    Anyone else having these kind issues? I'm UTD on all software. MBP 13 early 2013 i5 256gb 8gb ram Any ideas how to fix?

    Fresh install MacOS and Restoring from Time Machine Back Up?

    I'm having some odd crashes and want to start fresh on a new install of MacOS.

    I have time machine backups of the entire drive. When I restore and reinstall from scratch, and use my Time Machine backup, do I risk re-introducing these issues into the system?

    These issues are mainly WifiAgent crashing every-time I switch Wifi, and random crash reports from seemingly random daemons throughout the system.

    Keyboard backlight not functioning in Windows 10 bootcamp

    Yesterday I installed Windows 10 Bootcamp on my MacBook Pro (13", 2019) but I immediately noticed that the backlight for my keyboard was not working. It works perfectly in macOS but it doesn't function correctly in windows. There is no light at all and there is no way to adjust the light, when I press the button on the touch bar no input is registered and the f5 and f6 keys do not work either. I've researched how to fix this online but I've been met with mostly vague answers. The most promising answer that I have seen, which is from apple, is to re-install the Windows Support Software. However, this requires an external USB drive which I do not have. On top of that, this method seems daunting. I was wondering if there was any other way to fix this issue. If there are no other methods, is going to the apple store to fix this issue viable, or is it inadvisable because Windows 10 is something I personally installed? Also, is this issue deep enough to warrant me returning the device? I am still in the return period.

    Mojave 10.14.6 (18G87) not recognizing WOFF and WOFF2 fonts

    I'm trying to install WOFF and WOFF2 fonts on my MacBook with Mojave to use them on Sketch but it keeps not recognizing the format with Fonts Book.

    What could be the problem?

    iMovie storage

    I don't know if this has been posted many times here, despite my search for iMovie, but has anyone else been encountering an error saying "There is not enough disk space available at the selected destination. Please choose another one or clear some space." even if they have free space, I have almost 200 gb free, it's strange because I had this error first but then it started working and then now it's not working anymore
