    Just noticed something cool about the Flashlight

    I often noticed my Apple Watch flashlight would have a default setting to the red light rather than the brighter white light. I did some research online and nothing came up.

    Luckily I figured it out serendipitously. Turns out, the white light is the default one, but if you activate theater mode on the watch, the flashlight automatically switches to the red might as the default. This is to produce a softer light from the watch in order not to draw too much attention.

    It's a little detail, but I thought it was really cool and thoughtful.

    iOS dev beta 6, released 07Aug2019, fixes battery drain issues

    At least, for me. I've been losing at least 5% per hour since the latest public WatchOS update and iOS 13 dev beta 5. I've lost 1% since updating to the latest beta almost 2 hours ago. Hope this works for the rest of you! The public beta should be out within a week, if you're on that.

    Update: It's been 9 hours. When I made this post, my watch was at 86%. Now at 66%! We're back to normal, folks.

    Apple Watch Series 4 here.

    Why does my watch drain fairly quickly when I store it and put it in airplane mode for around 8 hours?

    It seems to drain the same amount as when it's not in airplane mode and I'm wearing it for the same amount of time.

    It's not an excessive amount or anything, just didn't expect it to drain hardly at all while in airplane mode?

    Unable to get an ECG reading

    I'm on watchOS 6 beta 6, in Canada.

    When I put my finger on the crown, it's always dodgy to get it start reading. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

    Then when it does start scanning, I'll be lucky to pass 5 secs before the reading goes haywire and the lines sporadically jump up and down and offscreen. I'm not at all moving, and in any position I am in the reading just doesn't work.

    It's kinda frustrating. Not sure if I received a faulty ECG reader from Apple last year or if it's a bug.

    Apple Watch without iPhone Temporarily

    So I'm going to bring in my iPhone for a battery replacement, and I've been really getting into closing my rings. The Apple store should have my phone for 24-48 hours. My question is, will my watch sync back up with the activity app once I get my phone back?

    TL;DR: Will Apple Watch sync up with activity app after being away from iPhone for 1-2 days?

    Some questions about Apple Watch Series 4

    Is the included charger stable or does it slip easily? Do you recommend any third party charging stands for Apple Watch, iPhone and non-wireless charging Airpods? Does the watch scratch easily, do I need a screen protector (if so, do you recommend any and do they look good)?

    Anyone else’s battery life shit since the last update?

    I have a S4 and have noticed significant battery drainage since the last OS update throughout the day. I'd typically be at maybe 50 - 60 % battery life from a full charge at the start of the day now I'm noticing 20 - 30%

    Help with notifications

    I've owned an Apple Watch since Series 0 but I still can't figure something out with notifications. I enroll in notifications for my local news namely the KSHB and FOX4 in Kansas City. For KSHB, the notification will not buzz my watch and after I receive a notification I simply have the red dot and I have to pull down to read it. Similarly, if I have my phone unlocked and using it if I receive a notification from KSHB the banner comes down but there is no haptic feedback like when I get a text. The FOX4 app works correctly and I receive the notification on my watch just fine. I've tried tinkering with the various settings, mirroring iPhone, background refresh, etc. but nothing seems to work. Did the developer design it this way?

    How does my charging Apple Watch know when I'm nearby?

    Sometimes my Apple Watch s4 is charging on my nightstand and the display is off/dark, and my phone is sitting there next to it. Then when I walk closer to it, the display turns on, showing the large-time. How does the watch know I'm suddenly nearby and decide to turn itself on?

    Sport loop question

    So I just recently snagged a hyper grape Nike sport loop when it came back in stock. (Go me right) anyway, my question is, this is my first time with a sport loop, I used to have the Nike bands with the holes, I work out almost daily, and sweat a lot of course. Will the fabric of the sport loop get nasty over time of sweating? Or you able to wash the sport loop like the other bands? Thanks in advance!

    Messages complication no longer immediately opens an unread message when you tap it in the WatchOS 6 beta

    Title is pretty self explanatory, I'm not sure at which beta this was added because I normally avoided using this complication because I didn't want to be flung to an unread message immediately. Used it today and it just takes me to the app, no message thread opened. This is honestly a game changer for me.

    the normal "UNIX counts cycles?" Synch with ntp servers? Determine time directly from GPS? Get time from the cell networks? small quartz crystal for backup? All?
