I dreamed of a MacBook Pro. Should I buy it? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 05:46 PM PDT I watched a Dave Lee video before bed and then I dreamed about it. I dreamed about the touchbar and the 15 inch form factor. I dreamed about a 1TB SSD and the synergy with my iPad. should I pull the trigger and just buy it? idk if I really want it [link] [comments]

I got a brand new MacBook Pro 2019 yesterday and it already says Service Battery? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 08:14 PM PDT Is this a bug that can be fixed or is it legitimately telling me the battery needs to be serviced with no more than 1 cycle? [link] [comments]
2015 12" Macbook Retina flickering screen after MacOS uodate Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:24 PM PDT Hi all, I updated my 4 year old 2015 MacBook this week to the supplemental 10.14.6 release, and a few minutes after it finnished and I logged in, the screen started flickering. A reboot did not help and now reoccurs within a few seconds of logging in (before the desktop appears). I booked a genius bar appointment a couple of days later but was given the bad news that the graphics chip was fried, and as it's not covered under warranty they will charge around £700 to replace it (the main logic board). It was purchased via a business account so consumer rights apparently don't count in this instance. I know it was probably just bad luck, but the MacBook was in perfect condition and never mistreated. Gonna look to get it repaired elsewhere, but just thought I would put the resulting update failure out there just in case anyone else has seen the same issue. [link] [comments]

Does MBP use eGPU for Video Streaming? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 07:59 PM PDT I see my battery life decrease by a significant amount whenever I stream video. I think it's because of the 560x pro, but I'm not sure. [link] [comments]
Just switched from Android/Windows to all Apple. What should I know? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 06:19 PM PDT Hey all! I Had a Pixel 3 XL and an MSI GS65 Stealth. I decided to jump to an iPhone 8 and a 2019 MacBook Air. I was mostly using my laptop for gaming, but recently I've been doing all my gaming on my One X and Switch, so I'm not really missing it. Anything about Mac/iOS I should know, as a life-long Android/Windows user? [link] [comments]
MacBook Air 13” 2016, boot sound keeps going quiet Posted: 30 Aug 2019 12:15 PM PDT I can only hear the boot sound if I do a PRAN reset, but not after I have booted to Windows/macOS. I have checked all my sound devices and everything is going to the internal speaker, but still no boot sound (unless, I do a PRAM reset). What do I do? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Aug 2019 05:54 PM PDT I bought a MacBook today and would like to set it up with two external monitors that support HDMI. What's the easiest way for me to do this? Thank you [link] [comments]
Going from 2013 MacBook Pro to 2019 MacBook Air--improved performance? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 05:33 PM PDT I bought a refurbished MacBook Pro in 2013 with 2.6GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, 251 GB Flash Storage. I'm looking at a 2019 MacBook Air to replace it, which has 1.6GHz dual‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz, 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory, and 256GB SSD storage. Would the 2019 MacBook Air be a step up in performance? I use it for school, and my primary memory drain is having a LOT of browser tabs open. [link] [comments]
How to use an Input Microphone through my Macbook Pro's Headphone Input? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 05:10 PM PDT I have a microphone with an input connection, not USB. So I thought it would be the same if I just plug it in through the Headphone's input, since my MacBook Pro does NOT have a Microphone input. Turns out it doesn't work that way because my microphone's input doesn't have three rings. So I bought a splitter cable (which has three rings) so that the Mac realizes that a microphone is available, so I plug the splitter cable in the microphone input, connect my microphone in the splitter cable's input and... my Mac still does not recognize my microphone, but it does recognize that something (the splitter cable) is in the headphone input. So let's say I connect my headphones and my microphone into my splitter cable, and THEN I connect my splitter cable into my Mac's Headphone Input, it still doesn't recognize my microphone but it does recognize my headphones. Any ideas on how to make it recognize my microphone? [link] [comments]
Keyboard Service Program - How long did it take to get your MacBook back? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 08:54 AM PDT So the title speaks for itself. I'm using software to mitigate 95% of the repeat keys I get, and it has worked great over the last 10 months or so (when I first installed it), but now it's getting worse and the software doesn't always catch it so I'm looking into getting it replaced. The problem is I need my MacBook for work not to mention it's my primary personal computer, too, so I'd ideally like it to not be away for too long. I was wondering if anyone had any first-hand experience with the replacement program and could share, roughly, how long it took to get the computer back. Thanks! [link] [comments]
MBP 13 inch, how much SSD needed? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 11:32 AM PDT I'm going to order a MacBook Pro 13 8 GB RAM, but how much storage would you guys recommend? It's between 256 and 512 for me. Using a IPhone 7 Plus rn and got 128 gb on there and it's pretty much full. I'm scared that I'll fill up the 256 gb. I'll be using the Mac for storing some photos, uni applications and regular usage. What do you guys think? Any students who come short with 256? [link] [comments]
Should I wait or should I get one? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 08:03 AM PDT Hey there fellow Macbook users, I'm writing this here because I need some advice. My MacBook Pro 15' mid 2015 has a problem with the LCD's backlight. Now I have this dilemma - the Mac is at the repair shop where they said it can be either just a connector (relatively cheap repair) or it can be the whole LCD that needs replacing (not so cheap anymore). Now I heard & read rumors that a new MacBook Pro 16' is on the horizon. Do you think that in the worst case scenario I should wait for the new one or buy one from the current lineup? And when do you think we can expect the release of the 16'? (Some say September, some October, some 2020) Thanks for the help! [link] [comments]
Should i buy a MacBook while travelling in Malaysia? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 06:41 AM PDT So in two weeks i'm going to Malaysia and i was wondering if i should buy a MacBook there since it's about 500€ cheaper than in Europe. If I do buy it, are there any things i should be careful about buying it in different country than i live? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Aug 2019 03:36 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm planning on getting an i9 MBP, and I was considering the GPU upgrade. I was just wondering if it was worth it for a non gamer- I figured it might give me "better picture quality". I know I'm already dealing with hot hardware with the i9, so I was just looking for input. [link] [comments]
Formatting a macbook with a broken display Posted: 30 Aug 2019 01:05 AM PDT Hello, I want to securely reformat my macbook drive and do a clean install. I read that the best method is to encrypt the drive (with Filevault) and erase it. Since my screen doesn't work anymore, I am using an external display via HDMI. I am wondering, after the computer probably reboots during the proces, will the external display be automatically recognized? I don't want to be stuck sitting there with an erased drive and not be able to see anything. Thank you for your help! [link] [comments] |
