    Just got scammed IN PERSON while buying an iPhone X today

    I've had a good chuckle over my stupidity today. I was gonna meet a seller who was selling his iPhone X 64GB. From the pictures, the iPhone was the black version. I tested out the phone in front of him, everything seemed fine. Wifi, CCharging port, no scratches or scrapes or nicks anywhere on the screen, or the sides. The phone itself did seem a little thicker than what I had expected. (Foreshadowing)

    The camera had a camera protecting piece of tempered glass. Hmm, odd, I thought, but the camera was working fine without any scratches. Eh whatever, everything seemed great, I paid, and took the iPhone to bestbuy to buy a case, and when I put one on, I noticed that the case cutout for the apple logo did not match up with the logo embossed on the phone. Weird.... turns out the extra heft to the iPhone was due to a tempered glass backing on the back of the iPhone that made the iPhone look like it was black, when actually, it was a white iPhone X with a black adhesive glass back on it to conceal.... a crack stemming all the way from the metal casing of the camera l;ens ( lens is intact) ALL THE WAY to the bottom of the phone. And I paid 650 CAD, or 500 USD. Was that a complete rip off?? Everything else works fine and battery is great.... I am definitely conflicted.

    Thought this would be good info for anyone looking to buy an iPhone X/Xs/Xr/XsMax, given that many people will be selling their old handsets to upgrade to the new iphones.

    PS. Is there any downside to having a crack just on the back, if I order a skin to cover up the whole back, and then slap an apple case on it? Like water damage resistance being depleted or something along the lines of?

    Why steal an iPhone in 2019?

    My iPhone was stolen yesterday. By the time I got to my iPad (less than 30 minutes), it was showing as offline in Find My Phone. I immediately put it into lost mode. Then I called Apple. They said it was likely offline because the thief had turned it off. They said he/she wouldn't have been able to do anything with my phone unless they knew my passcode, and since it was in lost mode, it'll now never be able to be used.

    So what was the point of stealing it? Is the person just going to sell it for scrap metal? Or to some guy on the street who isn't even verifying that the thing turns on?

    Upgrading my iPhone today, do you usually restore or go fresh install?

    Hi guys :)

    It's that time again, I'm upgrading my iPhone X today (which I've loved, and has been one of my favorite iPhones) to the XS Max. I'm excited because I've always loved the bigger form factor of the Plus phones, and it will still have all the great things about my X.

    My question is...assuming most people are like me, and use iCloud photos, mail, contacts, etc. and don't need to manually reinstall base things like that, do you normally go with the clean install on your new phone and just install back the apps you need and adjust the settings to your old preferences, or do you actually restore from an iCloud or iTunes backup?

    I'm just curious what most people do. I've always kept the clean install and spot-installed what I needed, and that's what I'll do again this time.

    Does anyone know how to force open the “accept and connect” screen when connecting to public WiFi?

    It seems like this happens a lot, where I connect to WiFi at somewhere like a store, where you have to connect and then a browser screen pops up where you have to accept before it will let you actually connect to the internet.

    Half the time that screen does not pop up and I'm stuck in limbo. I go to the browser, or reopen the WiFi in settings over and over, and eventually it decides to pop up. Is there another way to get that screen to open?

    I quite enjoy the features that the 7+ has but one thing that I have doughts is the size. Does it get annoying or uncomfortable after a while? Or do you get used to it?

    Best free app for cutting an image from a photo and pasting to another photo?

    Basically a photoshopesque app, used one called YouDoodle which was terrible. Won't be heavily using and don't need professional features, it'll be for a few mock photos to fuck with friends and get a laugh, cutting their face and pasting somewhere else etc. All very mature I can assure you.

    iPhone 6 vs iPhone 8 for Brazil

    I'm going from America to Brazil. I have two phones I could take. I'm trying to decide which one to use or if both?

    iPhone 6 which is unlocked and off contract. No insurance on it. It was originally on Verizon but now it has no Sim. This one seems the best because it's older and less painful to lose.

    iPhone 8 which is on an MVNO with Verizon and it has an Apple care plan that expires in four months. This one seems the best because of the Apple Care+ plan.

    Both iPhones are unlocked and GSM capable.

    I'm thinking of transferring the iPhone 8's number to Google voice so I can use it on either phone, and buying a local SIM.

    So, which phone should I take and which SIM should I buy?

    Am I the only one who gets irritated by the do not disturb notification that has to show up on the lock screen every single time you turn do not disturb on? There's no way to consistently not get that notification besides clearing it every single time I turn my do not disturb on.. maybe it's just me..

    I would like to see folders in Safari have the same UI as folders on the Homescreen

    Here's what I'm talking about.

    I'm currently using iOS 13 beta 3, and all the new design changes are beautiful. I love how my bookmarks look in Safari, but when you click on a folder, it pulls a tab over the window.

    What I would like to see in Safari is what we see when we open a folder on the home screen. Make it so the folder opens the same way and is an overlay. It would be more consistent and look a lot nicer.

    Has anyone found a good alternative to the ~$40 audio + charge adapter?

    Hey guys, just a quick question.

    Has anyone had any good experiences with any lightning audio + charge adapters? Any besides the Belkin one ($40)

    I see amazon full of crappy chinese ones that break within a day (although fake reviews make them look legit), and I'd rather not spend $40 if there are some cheaper alternatives.

    Any help is appreciated (:

    I know I can use bluetooth earphones to avoid this but I already hate dealing with everything having low battery, plus I really like the apple earpods.
