Posted: 30 Jul 2019 08:43 PM PDT I have a iPhone 8 that is malfunctioning. First issue I had was the camera is black. It lags and will sometimes crash. I tried the VoiceOver trick and ended up locking myself out of my phone. I went to the Verizon store and was redirected to apple. Went to the store and they rebooted it. They ran the diagnosis and didn't really come up with an answer. My battery is about 83% but other than that nothing. I noticed that video and music playback, vibration, and ringer don't work with unless it is connected to Bluetooth. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
My iPhone died and when I turned it back on there were a few problems.... Posted: 30 Jul 2019 07:04 PM PDT My iPhone died like a little more than 24 hours ago, my charger broke & I got a new one today. When my phone turned on it asked me to enter my iCloud password and Apple ID password. I entered the CORRECT passwords and it keeps popping up anyways. About an hour later I texted someone and realized my message wouldn't send. I turned my WiFi off and then turned it back on in my phone settings. When it came on I had to reconnect myself to the WiFi (I had to enter the WiFi password which was connected from before I turned the WiFi off and on). The problem with the WiFi is that it keeps telling me I entered the wrong password which I'm not. For reference I have an iPhone 7+. To summarize this, I have 2 problems:
This all happened after it died of a dead battery and stayed like that for a little over 24 hours when I got a new charger. [link] [comments] |
Home button not working iphone 8+ Posted: 30 Jul 2019 01:55 PM PDT The home button on my 8+ just stopped working. My screen was cracked for a few months and it stopped working last night. Out of nowhere, the accessibility button popped up on my screen and the button wasn't working. I got the screen replaced this morning (not at an apple store) and the button worked for a few minutes, then worked sporadically, then stopped working altogether. I brought it to Best Buy to get it looked at and he recommended doing the update to ios 12.4 and that might fix it. I did the update and the button worked the first time I tried to unlock it, and then it stopped again. The touch id is still working, just not the home button function. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 02:42 PM PDT Sorry if this has been asked before; but I'm just looking for some clarification. My trust old 7+ basically had a meltdown Saturday. Sunday I picked up a new Xr 120gb. I was in a bit of a rush because we had family visiting; so I signed into iCloud and come of my contacts downloaded to the new phone and all of my photos. That was awesome. But because I didn't do a iTunes restore (which is where I last backed up my old phone...in the beginning of May ☹️), all of my apps and settings and passwords download which was what I was concerned about....but now it's not showing my photos taken between the beginning of May and now. When I google what to do; it mentions to turn off iCloud photo sharing and then turn it back on. When I try going into iCloud, And i turn off iCloud photo backup; but it says it will erase all of the photos from my phone and other devices. I'm concerned if I do that all the photos will be gone for good. Any help would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 11:36 AM PDT Hi everyone, I've been having an issue where I will get at least a half dozen spam phone calls a day from a different number every time. I don't answer, but I work with gloves on so my phone is in my pocket, and it's become a hassle to keep getting my phone out to see if a real person is calling or not. I've read that some people just switch their phone over to a "whitelist" using the do not disturb feature. This would work for me. The total number of wanted calls I've ever gotten in my life from numbers not in my contacts is maybe around a half dozen, and those folks can leave a voicemail. So I went into the do not disturb options and turned it on, and white listed my entire contact list. Unfortunately, I seem to be in a situation where if a contact calls me while my phone is unlocked and/or I have a podcast running on bluetooth my phone will ring. If the phone is locked and I'm not using my bluetooth, it will not ring, even if the person calling is a whitelisted contact. I'm not sure I understand the point of allowing "exceptions" to the do not disturb feature if they can't actually call you. I see under the options there is a setting called "silence", and you can only choose between "always" and "when phone is locked". Can I not turn that option off? I just want a way to make sure that my phone always rings when a contact calls me, but never rings otherwise, and I've found like 20 websites that say exactly that is possible, but I can't figure it out. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for helping! [link] [comments] |
Update: Luckily, past me was smart enough to enable auto-backup Posted: 30 Jul 2019 06:52 AM PDT My post from yesterday: https://www.reddit.com/r/iphonehelp/comments/cj3zyg/getting_data_off_of_dead_iphone/ Amazingly, after a bunch of tech support calls with both Apple and Verizon, we were able to locate a 19 gig backup from Saturday! I guess a smarter version of myself in the past enabled Icloud Backup at some point, and forgot about it. So the new phone from Verizon is on the way and should be here tomorrow. The plan now is to try to load the icloud backup to the new phone, and if all looks good, send the brick back. If not, then I'll take the brick into an Apple store and pay $50 for a new battery, just to get the data. But that's not bad, and the former plan sounds promising to everyone anyway. The only thing that we're not sure about is the messages history. The Apple rep that looked into what made up the content of the backup (I couldn't see this on icloud.com), said that the messages backup % was 0, but that he was in the same position previously and all the messages came back anyway. I guess messages are saved on icloud by default now, and not on each device? Anyway, I have all the text messages synced to my macbook's messages app so it's not a huge concern if they don't show up on the phone. My only real worry if all goes according to plan, is how to preserve this text message history from the macbook. He suggested to use Time Machine and sent this link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201250 Which requires an external hard drive. I guess I could look into this as another backup too, but I was hoping for a cloud based solution. Does anyone have any better suggestions for saving the text messages from the macbook into icloud/itunes/whatever? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 02:14 AM PDT I am on iOS 12.4 on the iPhone XS, and one of the features it's suppose to have is the ability to read NFC tags on it's own, at least when it comes to websites. So far, the only time it seems to happen is when I have an NFC reader app open, which is fine, but limits what I can do because of it. Also, if it helps, I am using a back-up of my phone from when I was on the iPhone 8+, but it's the latest version, so it should still all be good. Any help to figure out this issue would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
help! getting an odd invalid sim error and have tried everything I can think of Posted: 30 Jul 2019 01:26 AM PDT I was recently given a pretty much brand new (he had it for a while but never used it) IPhone 7. I activated it and everything worked smoothly for about a month. Then I started getting pop ups that would say there is an issue with the SIM card and eventually "invalid sim" would show in the top left corner where the service provider name usually is. I bought a whole new SIM card and it worked fine again for a few weeks and the problem came back. The odd part to me is that if I turn my phone off and back on it works normally for about 5-10 min but then it get the same "invalid sim" error. Any help would be much appreciated, I really want to get this fixed [link] [comments] |
