    Important Announcement

Following discussions amongst the mod team, all posts, videos, and image submissions will be filtered by AutoMod, from the point when this post goes live. This is due to the fact that the majority of the posts are of a tech support nature which is more appropriate in the Weekly Tech Support Thread. There are also many instances of spam, and other low-effort posts such as random off-topic posts or single sentence text posts, that are not conducive to a good discussion. As such, the rules of the subreddit has been clarified and are available on the sidebar or on this link here to the wiki of the rules.

As this sub grows in the number of subscribers, we are taking proactive steps to make this place more organized and neat for you, and we apologize for any inconvenience. You will receive a message when your submission have been filtered, and will just need to wait for it to be approved or removed by the moderators, depending on the nature of the post. If your post have been removed, you will receive a comment that states the reason for the removal of your post, and you can either message us for clarification after that, or post on the relevant stickied thread.

Please refer below for the mod application post.

    Hello, everyone!

We are looking to add moderators here on /r/iphone! We've been growing tremendously these past few weeks, and are looking to add at least three new moderators, four if possible. If you're interested, please keep reading!

So, what does it mean to be a moderator on /r/iphone? Well, several things. It is important that anyone who applies be ACTIVE and MATURE in their duties as a mod. All mods should frequently check /new and remove any posts that break the rules (or anything else that might need to be removed). All mods should make sure discussions in popular threads adhere to the rules as well. The more time you have, the better. You could be perfect for the role, but someone who only has an hour to spare won't fit the part. You will be expected to be active, and if you are not active or is inactive after a few weeks of being active without a solid reason, you will be removed as a mod.

    Requirements

    • Your account must be at least 6 months old and you must have at least 500 cumulative karma.
    • Must be active on /r/iPhone and have a history of contributing positively to the subreddit (i.e. not breaking rules and not coming here to troll).
    • Look forward to doing the "janitorial" work that is the bulk of what moderators do: removing and approving posts, clearing the modqueue, responding to modmail, helping people, maintaining order.
    • Willing to perform the majority of moderation work from a computer & install Moderator Toolbox (mod tools for mobile are terrible).
    • Have a Discord account, and if selected as a mod, be in the r/iphone Discord channel for staff chat.
    • Be extremely active in doing your mod duties, and be mature in interactions with users and other mods.
    • Previous moderator experience is helpful, but not necessary.

Please be honest in your answers on the mod application form, don't write an application that embellishes or fabricates -- we want to know the real you. Each applicant will receive the same level of consideration, but we might be more inclined to bring on people who are more active, regardless of timezone.

If you are selected, you will be on a trial basis, and if you do not perform up to standard, you would be removed as a mod. This would not generally be done unless you are extremely inactive, or do something extraordinarily bad against the sub and site rules, so be rest assured that it is not going to happen that easily.

Link to the form: The /r/iphone Moderator Application Form.

We can only take a handful of people, so if you aren't chosen, please don't take it personally. Successful applicants will be notified in a few weeks, or whenever we feel that the number of applicants is more than enough, whichever comes first.

Good luck to everyone! If you have any questions, feel free to leave them below and we will respond to your queries.

You know you’re screwed up when snooze fails to work, iOS 12.3.1.

    What an improvement!

What do you think of this iOS scrolling animation I made?

Just got an IPhone XS, looking for a cool or unique case.

    Posted: 06 Jul 2019 09:00 PM PDT

I just got an iPhone after using an android for years. I'm enjoying it, but I want to find a really cool or unique case. Features are what I like most, but design is also important. I really enjoy the look of the Corners4, but I was wondering if there was anything really cool I haven't seen before I order.

    Thanks :)

Does the iPhone take a picture with both the rear cameras and combine them together?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 01:51 AM PDT

I remember reading an article a few years back(something like this https://www.cnet.com/news/how-apples-iphone-7-plus-melds-two-cameras-into-one/ - will continue looking for the right article)

That claims that they take a picture each from the 2 rear lenses and merge them into one picture(not HDR)

Can any iPhone software/hardware engineer confirms that they do this?

Can't wait to see what Apple has in store for the iPhone this year as the main selling point would be it's thriple camera and with such a hideous camera bump(https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_banners/3059500674/1556371422/1500x500).. they sure want that mobile photography crown back..

Thinking of going from a Samsung Note 8 to an iPhone XR

    Posted: 06 Jul 2019 07:58 PM PDT

So I'm thinking of making the swap back to Apple after 5 years on Android, and specifically with the iphone XR cause I love the Product Red one. Anything I should know or expect going to an XR.

Pricing of the new iPhones (2019)

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 02:54 AM PDT

What is everyone's thoughts on the pricing for new iPhones?

I haven't really seen a lot of info on the interwebs regarding what pricing would be like and, assuming that there will be three models, and the fact that the iPhone X and the XS released at the same price-points, would it be correct to expect that pricing will remain the same?

At the same time, with rumours of FaceID being ditched for TouchID due to cost considerations (and possibly to be competitively priced), could this mean that prices might drop?

    This sounds like nonsense.

Upgrading to a new iPhone, I have a few questions...

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 07:58 AM PDT

I'm trading in my iPhone 7 for money off an iPhone XR.

Which Storage option should I get? 64GB or 128GB? I do like to take a lot of photos but I currently have a 32GB iPhone and pay for iCloud storage anyway. What do you think?

What happens when I trade in my iPhone for an upgrade at the Apple Store?

How do I back up my iPhone so I can restore the new one exactly like the old one? Will anything not be transferred across or synchronized?

How do I move my Apple Watch from one iPhone to the other?

What's your favorite choice of alarm sounds on iPhone?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2019 11:11 PM PDT

I have been using the radar default from start. It works, I mean it serves the purpose of waking me up but sometimes it gives me a headache because of the sudden sound.

Anyone else having issues with screen waking in their pockets lately?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2019 07:00 PM PDT

I'm not sure if it's from the latest software update or what, but I constantly have my phone wake in my pocket and press buttons. Sometimes it's when I'm on the phone using AirPods, I'll press the lock button and put it in my pocket and it presses the dial pad. Other times, I hit the lock button and put it in my Pocket and it will either start playing music while I'm walking or next time I pull my phone out the flashlight is on or just a random app open. I have the XR and definitely notice it more the last month. Not sure what to do. Already rebooted multiple times with no fix.

Shouldn’t there be a “Reminders” title at the top of the Reminders app?
