Posted: 06 Jul 2019 01:52 AM PDT Hi there. Just got an Apple TV 4K yesterday and so far I think it's great. But I noticed YouTube is kinda blurry despite the fact it has the 4K label in the overview. So I looked into the problem and realized it's Apple and Google playing the game of who is the asshole… I think Google will never give up to manipulate competitors, so did Apple give up in tvOS 13 and added the V9 Codec or will I have blurry YouTube (by the way, the app feels terrible) forever now? Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos Issues Posted: 05 Jul 2019 05:20 PM PDT Hey everyone. I've searched on this reddit thread and on forums about Apple TV4k having issues with Dolby Vision and Atmos content, but cannot figure out my situation. Here is my set up: Apple TV 4k connected to Sony STR-DN1080 hooked up to a Sony 950G. From my research, it's usually a cable issue, match content and match dynamic range on the apple tv being off, or the receiver not having Dolby Vision passthrough. I cannot get Dolby Vision nor Dolby Atmos to work on my Apple TV4k. Everything I listed is updated to the latest firmware. I have a 3 ft monoprice cable that I tested from the Apple TV4k to the receiver. I used that cable to test Dolby Vision on my Sony UBP-700 and it worked, including Dolby Atmos. I tried different HDMI ports on the receiver for the Apple TV 4k and still no Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos passthrough. I also went into the receiver settings and set the HDMI settings to "Enhanced Format" to allow the highest possible quality on all the HDMI ports. To test Dolby Vision, I try to turn it on in ATV4k settings, but it reverts back down to the original format. It shows a link I can go to, and it's more troubleshooting steps I've tried already. This is the link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208074 I'm a bit baffled at this. Any help, recommendations are welcome. Thanks all! Edit: Factory reset and nothing. Called Apple Support and they were not super helpful but will call me back tomorrow in the morning. They're suspecting it's the cable, but I highly doubt it's that. I'm open to all options. EDIT#2: FOUND THE DAMN ISSUE! I went to this thread and it worked! I missed this simple, yet important step. You have to dig so much to find it, and I thought I had enabled the "Enhanced Format" on the tv, but I hadn't. Here is the link on how to solve this problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/c4ey0k/hdr_and_dolby_vision_issues_with_apple_4k_denon/ [link] [comments] |
Activate Siri with 3rd party remote? Posted: 05 Jul 2019 06:21 PM PDT I can't seem to get the knack of using the ATV remote but I love my LG Magic Remote. Can I use the "Learn Remote" feature to map a button on my 3rd party remote to activate the Siri button? [link] [comments] |
Can you recommend a good HDMI cable or the Apple TV 4K? Posted: 06 Jul 2019 02:25 AM PDT I'm searching for a good HDMI cable to connect an Apple TV 4K to my LG C9 OLED and I thought this would be the best place to ask for advice. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2019 01:29 AM PDT is there a true black background theme for OLED TVs on apple tv? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2019 06:37 AM PDT Not sure how long it is available. Previously I had to rely on their webpage or using youtube TV to record something there. Nice addition , but it offers only live stream not any on demand content. [link] [comments] |
Still no way to shuffle TV Shows in the latest beta? Posted: 05 Jul 2019 08:57 AM PDT Still? Really would love to shuffle a show (like The Office) and keep wondering why Apple doesn't enable this. [link] [comments] |
