Why does everyone want A-series chips in laptops?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2019 07:27 AM PDT

I see a lot of comments in /r/apple where people are excited for/can't wait for Apple to ditch Intel for in house Mac CPUs. As an engineer I for one am dreading the day this happens. I don't want to have to switch to another platform just so I can run virtual machines of the operating systems I manage and work with. I'm also not going to be thrilled with the amount of software I lose access to when the instruction set is totally different and my day to day apps take forever to update to support it.

What are the upsides besides the speed/performance that an AMD partnership could bring?

Edit: Thank you all for the answers. I get it now and am cautiously excited to see what happens.

More iPad models registered in Eurasian database as new 10.2-inch iPad expected in fall

I think it would be neat if Apple would expand Airplay 2 Controls to more than just Apple TV. If we could control media playing on say, all devices using that Apple ID. Out of laziness I’d love to be able to pause something playing on my iPad from my iPhone. Thoughts?

In iOS 13 Safari when clicking on a link that opens a new tab, the back button on the new tab takes you back to the original tab and automatically closes the new tab

Hope the title is clear enough. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere.

If you're on the beta just try clicking on a link that opens an external link on a new tab.

The back button is now enabled and takes you back to the page you came from, while closing that recently created tab.

Love this feature! No more throwaway tabs left lingering forever.

I updated my feature-basic, visually unremarkable calorie counting app to get you in and out - Calorie Quick!

    Posted: 27 Jul 2019 10:43 PM PDT

Since I'm trying to lose weight and overeating is a real but preventable issue for myself... and I'm sure others, I wanted to create a calorie counter that got me in and out. The calorie counters on the store are so filled with unnecessary features and extra steps, I didn't want to bother. Therefore, Calorie Quick!

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/calorie-quick/id1455741431

Set you daily goal, enter your number of input calories, press the "plus" button ... you're done! :)

In addition, if you go over your daily goal, your current calorie count changes to red to symbolize the excess. We have several gradients to choose from including a green to black gradient choice. If you select this gradient, your background view will be green (to black), however, when you reach over 90% of your daily goal, the gradient will change from red to black, indicating the danger zone. We also have a plain black theme :P

    Nonetheless, enjoy :)

    Apple Watch 4: New complications?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2019 09:27 AM PDT

I wasn't aware of this until a couple days ago, but the "infograph modular" face used to be missing obvious complications like messages and email. I was updating my watch face the other day and noticed that these were now available (along with some third party complications, like the tiles app).

I thought Id share this since I remember feeling disappointed by not being able to add these to the new watch face. This is by far my favourite watch face and these seemed like obvious omissions to me.

Does anybody know when these were added?

Note: My apologies if this was already widely known. I searched the history and couldn't find anything that mentioned this, so I thought I'd post this in case users were in the same boat as me. I'm not in the habit of updating my watch faces that often. I had no clue!

Looking for feedback on Lark!, a new travel app my partner and I just launched :)

    Posted: 27 Jul 2019 08:54 AM PDT

    Hey Reddit!

My partner and I just finished developing our first app on iOS called Lark!

Lark! helps travelers find great things to do that fits their interests in new cities. You can input your interests, budget, and time, and get a custom itinerary in minutes. We launched on Wednesday with 5 US cities (San Francisco, LA, NYC, Washington DC, and Chicago), and are excited to add many more in the coming months.

We are still learning as we go, and would love your feedback on the app - particularly what cities you'd like to see next! If you'd like to try out a paid city, the first 50 people to email allison@travelwithlark.com will receive a promo code for their city of choice!

    Download Lark! here.
