How long will I be able to stay on High Sierra without upgrading? Posted: 23 Jun 2019 01:47 AM PDT Generally speaking how long is an OS good for before something forces you to upgrade (an app that requires the latest OS, Apple stops supporting the OS completely)? I ask because I have thousands of dollars worth of software and hardware that is incompatible with Mojave so I'm going to have to stay on High Sierra for quite a while, although the software manufacturers have released new versions that work with Mojave I will have to buy them all over again. Posted: 22 Jun 2019 11:38 PM PDT The reason ( in my experience) why many people use windows is due to the 3rd part apps like steam and the adobe suite as well as office no one actually likes or prefers "windows" it's very different from the Mac users use the Mac We use mac simply due to macOS. Upgrade to Mojave on Mid 2012 13’ MBP 4GB Posted: 22 Jun 2019 12:32 PM PDT It's still stuck on Mavericks to avoid performance issues, would it run slower with the update? [link] [comments]
Looking to upgrade my Mid-2012 MBP 13" to an SSD, couple of questions Posted: 22 Jun 2019 09:50 PM PDT As the title says, I'm wanting to upgrade my MBP to an SSD and already have an SSD that I'll bring over from my workstation. However this SSD has been formatted for use on Windows 10 (NTFS I believe) and I assume I'll need to format it before it can be used. Would I be able to put the SSD in and try and boot the laptop using a USB and then format it via the bootable USB drive or would it need to be formatted prior to putting the SSD inside? Also, if anyone could point me in the direction of the Mojave download so that I may create a bootable USB drive, that would be awesome. I can't seem to find a download now that I'm on the latest version of Mojave since the App Store won't let me download it now. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Jun 2019 05:50 PM PDT So, I was talking to one of my co-workers the other day, and he mentioned how back in the day he had created a Python program to animate Pokemon sprites on his desktop. They would peek around the corner of the screen, jump onto desktop icons and shortcuts, and hide behind open windows. He's a very condescending guy so I can't ask more help from him on this task, but I want to make my girlfriend a program like that for her birthday using Monster High sprites instead of Pokemon sprites. Google has failed me entirely, so here I am. To summarize my question(s):
In the meantime, I'll see where google can take me. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Is it possible to get sidecar on Mojave? Posted: 22 Jun 2019 11:57 PM PDT I have a through-away iPad Pro running iPadOS 13, and a MacBook Pro running 10.14.5 Is there a way to make sidecar work without updating the Mac to an unstable beta? [link] [comments]
How to sync Android contacts into MacOS contacts Posted: 22 Jun 2019 06:32 PM PDT Hi everbody. If anybody knows a way to transfer contacts from a Galaxy S9 to a MacOS, let me know the way it's done. Thanks for your time. [link] [comments]
What games can my MacBook Pro run? Posted: 22 Jun 2019 06:26 PM PDT I recently got a 13'' MacBook Pro with Touch Bar for college, I didn't buy this for gaming of course but I would not mind playing a game from time to time. I was wondering what games the latest version of the MacBook can run. there was a post like this last year but it was for a 2016 MacBook, and the latest is much more powerful. What games can you guys run? [link] [comments]
Massive Overnight Battery Drain Posted: 22 Jun 2019 09:12 AM PDT Hi all, I have a 2018 MBP 13 inch on the latest version of Mojave. Overnight, it goes from 100% to 18%. I have already tried a factory reset which helped for a week and now the problem is back. Is there any way to fix this? [link] [comments]

MBP battery drain when lid closed Posted: 22 Jun 2019 07:21 AM PDT When I put my mbp to sleep (lid closed) without being plugged in, the battery drain overnight (10pm to 7am for example) would be over 20%. I have a early 2015 MBP 13", on the latest OS available, battery cycle count is at 171, power nap on battery is disabled. I am a light user and don't even use the computer everyday. I have done some searching but have not found anything yet. I read somewhere that I can run the terminal for a list of wake reasons and this is part of what I got for the past few days: 2019-06-14 00:58:10.839574-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-14 01:28:16.748546-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ARPT (Network) 2019-06-14 01:28:16.748548-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ARPT (Network) 2019-06-14 01:48:10.858793-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-14 01:49:26.203977-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: RTC (Alarm) 2019-06-14 01:49:26.203980-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: RTC (Alarm) 2019-06-14 07:00:00.843358-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-14 08:00:06.722441-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ARPT (Network) 2019-06-14 08:00:06.722443-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ARPT (Network) 2019-06-14 08:20:00.839218-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-14 08:20:52.656643-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ARPT (Network) 2019-06-14 08:20:52.656646-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ARPT (Network) 2019-06-14 08:40:46.838507-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-14 08:41:34.779071-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: EC.ACDetach (Maintenance) 2019-06-14 08:41:34.779100-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: EC.ACDetach (Maintenance) 2019-06-14 20:23:47.845645-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-16 20:22:21.820409-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-18 21:22:55.821319-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-21 21:02:52.846007-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-21 21:05:56.070233-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: SPIT (User) 2019-06-21 21:05:56.070235-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: SPIT (User) 2019-06-21 21:06:47.738013-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Button (0x03) 2019-06-21 21:13:20.500854-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: EC.LidOpen (User) 2019-06-21 21:13:20.500857-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: EC.LidOpen (User) 2019-06-21 21:17:07.716621-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-21 21:28:28.217209-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ARPT (Network) 2019-06-21 21:28:28.217211-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: ARPT (Network) 2019-06-21 21:54:39.830618-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) 2019-06-21 21:55:11.927795-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: EC.LidOpen (User) 2019-06-21 21:55:11.927798-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: EC.LidOpen (User) 2019-06-22 06:41:47.901959-0700 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver) [HID] [ATC] AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01) I don't really know how to interpret this result as I have no IT background. iCloud downloads stuck Books App - Mojave Posted: 22 Jun 2019 02:11 AM PDT The books app has become largely unusable for me because every time I return to my EPUB iCloud book on the macOS app, it has to download the book again. But the download doesn't move at all. Pausing does nothing and I can't delete the book either because its in this frozen download state. The online articles on this topic are rather useless and I'm pretty frustrated with what would otherwise have been a great app. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? I'm running Mojave on a 2018 MBP [link] [comments]
How to disable swap on Mojave? Posted: 22 Jun 2019 04:25 AM PDT Hey there, I was wondering how can you disable swap on Mojave (10.14.5). I want to disable it in order to prevent hypervisor leaks from a guest virtual machine to the host operating system. Thanks in advance. Best regards, [link] [comments]
Avoid pausing music when turning off second monitor in clamshell mode Posted: 22 Jun 2019 03:09 AM PDT Hey! So, I've managed to set up my old macbook to be used as a movie/music computer. Just one little peeve, when I turn the TV off (second monitor), the music pauses for 5-10 seconds. It starts up again after that, but I'm looking for a flawfless user experience. ;) Any advice?
