The secure way of locking your iPhone or iPad?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 07:37 AM PDT

    Dear people of reddit,

I am wondering on how to securely lock an iPhone or iPad. In my opinion it does norm after if you're using FaceID, TouchID or a four or six digit passcode.

The problem with FaceID is, someone can easily use an other device that creates a 3D model of your head, then 3D print it and use glass eyeballs. If the people that have your phone are in front of you, then they could hold the phone into your face, you'll look at it and it would be unlocked.

TouchID is even more easier, just replicate with the grease of a finger and you can unlock the phone. If you have additionally put someone out his or her hands into a fast drying grease. You're going to have his fingerprints laying around as a rubber grease tip. The other scenario is to unlock your phone with the physical hand that is held by someone.

4 and 6 digit Passcode is the easiest if you have 10 tries (until data is deleted if you set it). With often unlocking your phone you're going to have finger grease on your display. Use a powder on it, brush away and you got bumps of grease on the display. Try and error the combination and see if it unlocks the phone.

What are the solutions? Never again unlock your phone? Do not use convenient features like TouchID and FaceID? Do not use Passcodes?

    Yes, all of them.

Solution is a password sentence that is pretty long and not self constructed. You could go mad and say your own sentences are not secure, because you could be analysed, and you are perhaps right.

So next time go to the crowded part of the city, ask someone who does not fit into your sympathetic scheme and ask for a 20 words and numbers sentence.

Is anyone having a problem keeping a charge on iOS13 beta? How do I fix this

iPadOS: Does the improved Apple Pencil latency apply to the default note app only or 3rd party applications such as Nitability as well?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 06:21 AM PDT

Do the developers of the 3rd party app need to support for PencilKit in their apps for the latency to improve? Does anyone know this?

Answers would be very much appreciated.

How can I disable that my phone gets locked immediately when I press the button to switch off my display?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 05:05 AM PDT

Is there a way to extend that to 1 minute instead of immediately?

How can I quickly switch from SwiftKey back to the default iOS keyboard?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 01:13 AM PDT

Follow up to the question How can I quickly switch between languages since Swiftkey only allows 2 simultaneously? since this is not possible:

In SwiftKey I am having two languages. Now I want to quickly switch to the default iOS keyboard that features two more languages I need.

How do I quickly switch between the SwiftKey and the iOS keyboard?

From iOS to Swiftkey keyboard, it's easy because it has this dedicated button on the keyboard that represents a world or something like that.

But the other way around? Is this actually possible?

    Thanks!

Another Interesting Find In iOS 13 Public Beta

iOS 13 monitors your activity pattern and adjusts the charging speed accordingly. Fast charging is relatively bad for the battery cycles as compared to slow charging. Thus, when you plug in your device at Night, iOS 13 makes sure that the device charges in such a way that it minimally affects the battery cycles.

Any alternative to tacts? Used to LOVE that app

Tactswas awesome while it was supported. Seems dead now, no dev response. Any good alternatives? Seems like all contacts apps on the app store are pure shit these days. Every one of them.

Explicit photos erroneously uploaded to wrong iCloud account

    Posted: 28 Jun 2019 08:52 PM PDT

Purchased an iPad from somebody they left their iCloud logged in. I took some photos and saw that their iCloud to Photos connection was still there. How do I make sure they don't see these photos? I don't want to message them and ask them to delete bc obviously the photos are not of clean nature, lol.

    What happened to Sunshine Weather?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2019 06:29 PM PDT

Does anyone know what happened to them? Every time I try to open the app, it says that there is "no internet". I've tried on different networks, cellular data, etc... it just stopped working.

Nothing on the web has any answers either.

The only reason I'm holding out hope is because there isn't anything on their Twitter page saying that they've shut down or something.

Looking for a "fitness" app that can ...

    Posted: 28 Jun 2019 05:54 PM PDT

... let me set targets of steps to take at certain points in the day (2000 by noon, 4000 by 3pm, 7000 by 5pm, etc.) and then, without an apple watch or device other than my phone's accelerometer, will track steps and signal me if I have NOT reached those targets at those times.

Is anyone aware of any such app?

What’s the deal with automatic updates at the worst of times?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2019 04:53 PM PDT

I was using YouTube, switched out into 2 others for less than a minute, and upon returning to the home screen it was being updated. This has happened a fair few times before, and while it has only been a slight annoyance to me, I know it could happen with something more important. There should be some timer so once x amount of downtime is reached, then the app is updated, rather than jumping the gun and causing inconvenience.

Edit: this has happened on both iOS 12 and iOS 13 for me.
