Posted: 09 Jun 2019 12:58 PM PDT For folks who use their iPhones to take pictures, it's a cool feature to have your pictures geotagged with the location so you can use some of the other features located within the Photos app and what not. However, this kind of feature is transferable to other audiences when you send them off, and this could mean giving away your location unintentionally or unknowingly. I had a friend who was selling some expensive goods on craigslist and sent a picture of his goods to his potential buyer. His potential buyer was able to see loosely where he lived and told my friend he lived closed by and could swing over to pick it up. Giving away location data like that to a person you don't know certainly violates a sense of safety and security for most, and my friend was shocked at how easy it was to gain his location data off a couple of pictures. If you want to scrub the GPS metadata off your photos, there are a few ways:
For those of you learning this for the very first time, it's nothing new. There have been articles as early as 2015 talking about them, and surely even older articles before then. I'm also certain if you search through old posts under /r/Apple or any other related Apple sub, you'd find posts about it as well. For a company that values privacy so very much and does a stellar job at it, I'm surprised at how easy it is to inadvertently send your location data to someone else. I hope they can make more adjustments to the current status quo of things that allows us to still enjoy the current geotagged data features of their apps while also not disclosing location data to people you may or may not want knowing it. EDIT: Added some more methods to remove the Exif metadata. [link] [comments]

Good news site without all the rumors? Posted: 09 Jun 2019 11:03 PM PDT I've followed Macrumors and 9to5Mac for years but getting tired of all the rumors. I don't want to know that iTunes is getting split up, I want to be wow'ed during the keynote. I don't want to see hundred different renders of the iPhone XI back camera, I can wait until fall when they announce it. Any recommended site for just the news? About everything Apple, including new apps etc. I know Apple have their own "Apple Newsroom" which even has its own RSS-feed, but 1) it posts too rarely, and 2) it's only about things From apple, not if there's some huge third party announcement. 3D Touch isn't actually dead on iOS 13 Posted: 09 Jun 2019 10:43 AM PDT I've discovered that while many of you claim that 3D Touch is replaced with Haptic Touch, this is not the case! So say in the control center. If you were to 3D Touch the icons, it'll actually come up faster, but if you were to Haptic Touch by lightly tapping and holding, it comes up slower, but still works. It basically means holding down or pressing harder registers the same action now, so you can choose to Haptic Touch or 3D Touch at will. This applies for every action... but... This also leads to another point of a likely bug in iOS 13: if you were to attempt to perform 3D Touch in some areas, like pressing harder on the home screen app icon or notifications, the haptic feedback does come up faster, meaning that 3D Touch actions are registered properly. However, as of beta 1, the thing is that you need to release your finger immediately after the haptic feedback in order for the 3D Touch action to be registered. I think this is most likely a bug and will be rectified in subsequent betas. Even if not, you can still enjoy the speed of 3D Touch by simply pressing hard and releasing once you get feedback. Developer access to Afterburner in the new Mac Pro? Posted: 09 Jun 2019 10:20 AM PDT In Gruber's interview with Federighi, Craig confirmed that Afterburner can be used for other things implying that it comes with support for ProRes and ProRes RAW out of the box but can be re-programmed for other uses. As someone who has experience with HDL, FPGAs, and hardware acceleration I'm very curious about what access they will give to developers. [link] [comments]
Now that IOS is getting proper controller support, how about MacOS? Posted: 09 Jun 2019 09:14 AM PDT Title. I've yet to see native controller support in games. Is it coming to MacOS Catalina? [link] [comments] |
