Apple has been no help. Constant crashing lately. Can anyone tell me what this crash report says? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 05:20 PM PDT My computer keeps crashing and "restarting because there was a problem." I am getting really worried. My new number is linked to someone else's iMessage account Posted: 01 Apr 2019 11:09 AM PDT About a month ago, I bought a OnePlus 6T and threw in a T-Mobile plan. I forgot to port my old number, so T-Mobile gave me a new one. But as it turns out, my new number is being used for someone else's iMessage account. I found this out when I texted my girlfriend, who is an Apple user, and when she responded, it went to the other person's inbox. He was not very nice. I also think this issue is causing glitches, such as when I text in a group chat, my message gets sent back to the chat in a different bubble. I have contacted T-Mobile support, no luck. I have (attempted to) contact Apple support but couldn't get past the robot due to the fact that he asks for what Apple device you're using and I have an Android device. Does anybody know what to do about this? I'm all out of options and it's getting frustrating. [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro 13” 2015 Display Issues Posted: 01 Apr 2019 07:19 PM PDT This is my last resort. I've tried everything I could think of. I've reset pram, I've tried resetting the SMC but I've got no confirmation on that. I've drained the battery I've fully charged it. I unscrewed the casing and made sure everything was solidly in place. I've messed with color profiles and done everything any forum has said. But my issue is so weird that I don't even know what I'm looking for. It started when I opened the lid one day and was greeted by a grey screen. I tried everything and nothing worked... eventually someone tried using another monitor and got it to at least run as a desktop computer. But it's my portable school laptop so I kind of need to bring it places. Then one day I opened it up and I got this level of success: The Grey Translucent Box thing I'm at least happy to have a screen even if it looks kind of dead and is only 9/10ths of screen. But it's driving me crazy. How do I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2019 06:55 PM PDT Hey everyone. Just recently bought AirPods yesterday but I cant seem to get them to work like everyone else's. Whenever I try to connect the AirPods it doesnt show the battery for the small popup but rather a notice for software update. Whenever I press any option it doesnt seem to help. Re-pairing doesn't to help either. Ive also tried to follow steps for letting the AirPods update its firmware but it hasn't updated for over an hour. I also dont understand what firmware I have. Any help is much appreciated! https://imgur.com/a/VY878qO [link] [comments] |
A Projector that can display MacBook screen wirelessly Posted: 01 Apr 2019 06:54 PM PDT I know that WiDi doesn't work with MacBooks, and I think Macs in general. Most of the projectors I'm seeing online that are worth their salt (it's been a frustrating sea of cheap Chinese knockoff brands on google search), boast WiDi support, but mention nothing of a Mac compatibility. My old projector is outdated and finally bit the dust, so I'm looking to get a wireless one to reduce the wire clutter in my living room. My living room MacBook specs are: Late 2011 MacBook Pro 2.5GHz i7 16GB RAM Radeon HD6770M Samsung 850 EVO 512GB I know it's old, but it's just my living room entertainment center station. Hopefully it's not too old to do any kind of screen sharing wirelessly. Any suggestions of brands of Projector and/or software solutions for connectivity would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Can I retrieve music from iPod with bad battery? (A1136) Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:25 PM PDT When plugged into my laptop, my iPod Video (A1136) charges but isn't recognized as a storage device. So I cannot seem to access the files via Windows Explorer on this specific iPod. I don't have this issue with other iPods (i.e., I can access files from my Nano 1st gen). This A1136 does have a bad battery. It turns on and charges, but doesn't build a charge. Dies within seconds of being unplugged. Is this something that prevents it from being used as a storage device? Any way around this? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Am I able to try my hand at development? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 10:17 PM PDT I just got an iPad Pro 10.5" and I'm 16. I've always had a soft spot for coding because of the creativity I can express. I have a pretty fast computer (Intel i5 8th gen, 8gb ram, windows 10, and basically a GTX 1050 mobile port, it's a laptop) so I think I would be able to run computer programs well, as far as I know, swift is something I would need. The iPad is remarkably fast and since it's a large screen and great performance I would love to use it for testing any app development. I just need to know where to start and what I need. FYI, tutorial videos don't do well for me. I learn by trial and error and figuring out everything by myself, it's how I learned Davinci resolve and Gimp and can use them fluently, so I could probably figure out my way through a program but I just don't know what programs. MBA 13" Mid-2013 Not Booting Help / + Possible Data Recovery? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 09:49 PM PDT So my friends MacBook Air 13" Mid-2013 is not booting at the moment. I suspect it's been dropped as they tend to use it on their bed and fall asleep with it there (Despite my advice on this). When they rang me about it they didn't turn it on as they were assuming it was flat, had connected the official charger and got a green light (charged). Pressing the power button no matter how long, there was no screen illumination or signal, no fans, no beeps, no signs of life at all really. They left it unplugged for a few days until I could look. I've found it and connected the charger again where it brought up the amber light (Charging). I did a SMC Reset and the charger light went through the expected change of Green to Amber, positive result. Still won't power on however. I did a reset of the PRAM, no result. I changed over to my known working MacBook charger, still an amber light, but also no result. Roll of the dice attempt of using a Thunderbolt HDMI to bypass the LCD, no result. At this stage, it's safe to assume there's internal hardware death in it somewhere and it's time to go to the Genius Bar unless someone can suggest something I haven't tried? Secondary question, is she's also not backed up her most recent data which was all of her CV/Cover Letters/Certificates she was using to try and find a job after recently being made redundant. Crap timing. If this is as dead as I'm expecting, has anybody successfully used these before to transfer data to a different Mac? I've never tried them but I have assumed that there could be security/encryption issues? I've recovered data in similar ways in the past with PC/Windows, but never attempted for Mac. https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/MAU3ENPRPCI/ If there's any info I've missed here, just let me know and I'll happily include. Thanks in advance for any help!! [link] [comments] |

Clone HDD to SSD, losing MS Office Key Posted: 01 Apr 2019 09:51 AM PDT So, I am not a mac person at all, have a mini that I use but only for a couple small things. Trying to help a friend speed up their mac by closing their drive to an SSD, but when we put it in, everything boots up and works with the exception of MS Office which requires inputting the key again. Is there any way to find the key of the installation to be able to re-input it on the new SSD so it can be used? I would use the MagicJellyBean on windows but not finding anything like that for a mac. This is for Office 2011. Anyone know how? She can't find the original cert with the key on it because she bought it 8 years ago and has moved twice since then. EDIT: SOLUTION I ended up finding an old code I had in a PDF email from a couple jobs ago, used that and then used the phone system to activate it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:36 PM PDT I've tried googling this, with no luck. I have several email addresses, but there's one that I use 98% of the time. I'd like that to come up as the default when I compose an email. As it is, Mail seems to randomly pick one of my email addresses to use in the "from" field, with the result that my emails often end up caught in the recipient's "junk" folder. Is there a way to designate one email address to be the default? (I try to remember to check before hitting "send", but sometimes I'm in a hurry and forget.) [link] [comments] |

MacBook Pro 2012 13’ long load times Posted: 01 Apr 2019 07:55 PM PDT I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro 2012 to a 250 Gb ssd and 16 Gb of RAM, and about a week and a half ago it started chugging to a crawl, beach balling for around a minute or two then letting click on an app or something, only for it to go back to beach balling. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I've tried resetting and restoring only for the issue to persist. Could it be a CPU issue? [link] [comments] |
Do I need a credit card to setup a cellular plan? I only have debit. Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:06 PM PDT Hello, I bought an 11 inch iPad pro the other week with cellular data, but I cannot active a plan with AT&T without a credit card it seems, inputting my debit card data returns with an error. Are there any plans I can use with just a debit card? Would a prepaid data card work? What about if I took the iPad into an AT&T store? Thanks for any help! [link] [comments] |

New 27" iMac weather Notification Center not working Posted: 01 Apr 2019 07:35 PM PDT Hello all, https://i.imgur.com/Gdb78Aq.jpg I just bought a new iMac and for some reason the weather widget is not updating to my location, the Today summary is accurate however. I spilled water on my MacBook Air! What is the diagnosis? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 07:24 PM PDT The laptop doesn't turn on, but when I plug it in to charge it the low battery screen appears, but the laptop won't charge. I spilled water on it about a month ago so there's no water in the laptop, but there's very minimal rust (according to the Genius Bar, who offered to fix it for a high price so I couldn't afford it). Can anyone suggest a good "rugged" case for the Apple Watch series 4? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 12:50 PM PDT My dad is a handyman and wants to be able to wear his watch more. He just got a series 4 and has yet to get a case for it. I have been trying to sift through the reviews on Amazon but am kind of stuck on what to believe, so your suggestions would come in handy. Any suggestions? It's the 44, he's not looking to do anything super intense with it, but the more protective the better. Thanks in advance. :) [link] [comments] |
[MBP] Unable to upgrade my SSD, or do internet restore for MacOS Posted: 01 Apr 2019 06:20 PM PDT Hello, here's what my problem is. I've run out of space on my mid-2015 MacBook Pro (500GB SSD) and purchased a 1TB upgrade kit from OWC to replace it. I've tried doing things a bunch of different ways, yet still have not been able to achieve success. The problems I've encountered are many, I'll try and summarize. -- About My Mac-- Macbook Pro (Retine, 15-inch, Mid 2015) 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Startup disk: Macintosh HD (MacOS Mojave) AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB . I install the 1TB SSD into the provided external enclosure, and attempt to "CLONE" my 500GB SSD to it. (FAILS 9/10 times)
I install the 1TB SSD into my MBP however it is not visible on start up - blinking question mark folder or black screen.
I install the 1TB SSD into the external enclosure, clone it, and boot from it.
I install the 1TB SSD into the MBP and attempt internet restore
I downloaded MacOS Mojave from the playstore and put the installer on a freshly formatted 1TB SSD (in the ext. enclosure).
I'm at a standstill and can't do any work (video editing) because my 500GB is full. [link] [comments] |
Question About How Activation Lock Works Posted: 01 Apr 2019 05:52 PM PDT So I have an iPhone 7 32 GB model that had an activation lock from an icloud account that i no long used. Two days ago I provided Apple Customer Support with a proof of purchase that included IMEI, Date of Purchase, etc. My question is what happens next? Once they verify the phone is mine do they call me? Do they just remove it without telling me? I've looked endlessly online but I can't find an answer. [link] [comments] |
New motherboard or not a new motherboard Posted: 01 Apr 2019 05:36 PM PDT So i just picked up my macbook pro 2016 for water damage. Was tier 4 repair. Seems to work great but my question is whether not they swapped out the board. The employee said they would and it would essentially be a new laptop. Piece of paper they gave me said it was fixed along with a bunch of other stuff, but when i opened it up there was my original sign-in and all my data was there. Did they do component level repair or did they somehow load all my stuff back on the new board. I didnt sign into icloud in the store. It was also a very quick turnaround. Dropped off at 3am on Friday morning (nyc store) and ready on Monday by noon. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
