My Apple Watch just saved my Life

    Posted: 05 Apr 2019 08:03 PM PDT

I was laying in bed, enjoying some TV and homemade brisket, when my Apple Watch told me that my heart rate was weird af, and then, told me my heart rate was stupid fast (thank you heart rate alerts)

Called ER, when they arrived, they found me in serious trouble. Body went into shock, got rushed to the hospital in a stretcher, and got taken into trauma.

I felt totally fine before everything happened, and then notifications, and then BAM, everything goes nuts.

100% thank you apple for making an amazing accessory and tool that helps people stay not dead.

Update 1: doctor just swung by, said that when I was picked up by the paramedics, I was suffering tachycardia, they gave me an IV and put me on oxygen, and applied EAD pads to my torso. Fortunately they never needed to be used, but I passed out in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Woke up in a hospital bed, and at this point the docs are just awaiting some results and such. Apparently I should be clear to leave, but have an appointment scheduled with a cardiologist tomorrow.

Update 2: me and my IV thingy after being moved to a waiting room - https://imgur.com/a/YuVgVCQ

Update 3: Doc swung by with my ECG and noted that while all the chambers of the heart were beating like they should, they were doing so at an abnormally fast rate. Got schedule me to see a Cardiologist tomorrow.

Update 4: Doctor says it was SVT, and scheduled me for an ECHO (I think?) and took some more blood after I'd recovered and been at rest for a few hours to check for any issues with my thyroid. Been discharged from the hospital but am to return tomorrow afternoon.

LPT: If you signed up to News+ and want to read WSJ articles you can’t find in the news app, go to the WSJ website, go to the paywalled article you want to read, press the share button, and select “Open in Apple News”.

Discovered this trick when I was frustrated by the meager selection of WSJ articles they offer in the app.

I find it humorous (and frustrating) that Apple doesn’t list Siri as a feedback option on Apple.com/feedback

Maybe they need a feedback page for their feedback page?

ListMo - task manager for iOS and watchOS

    Posted: 05 Apr 2019 11:46 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I am a single developer, who is working on iOS development as a hobby. I have launched my latest app ListMo a few days ago on the AppStore. Any feedback is appreciated, either here, via Twitter or [e-mail](mailto:listmoapp@gmail.com). The app is free for two more days and no data is being collected or sold.

ListMo can help you manage lists and tasks and takes advantage of the latest iOS and watchOS features, e.g. Siri Shortcuts, Drag and Drop on iPad, reminders on the Siri Watch Face and the new complications on Apple Watch 4.

You can download it on the AppStore for free here. FYI, we will switch to the paid version on Monday, so get it while it's free!

    Looking forward to your feedback!

eSIM for iPhone coming to Australia

Will Apple drop the Lightning connector in favor of USB-C and pave the way for a universal Apple charging standard?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2019 07:58 AM PDT

Will Apple drop the Lightning connector in favor of USB-C and pave the way for a universal charging standard? USB-C can drive displays, have 10GB network interfaces and is already the standard for Apple Macbooks. Mac owners already have adapters and devices that use USB-C for both charging and external devices. Wouldn't it be nice if there was one charger you can use from MacBooks to iPads to iPhones? Furthermore with the push to get rid of the headphone jack having a universal port between non Apple devices drives innovation and choice for USB headphones.

The big question is how would you respond to this? Would you want this as Apple consumers or would this be too soon after switching to lightning to switch again. What do you think?

TIL you can control GIFs in Apple News by moving your finger up and down on it

    Posted: 05 Apr 2019 11:58 AM PDT

    Yep.

I was scrolling through a News article that contained GIFs (you guessed it, BuzzFeed). I scrolled on top of the GIF and ended up reversing the image. You can "fast forward" and "rewind" the image.

Sort of like a video scrubbing feature, but for GIFs.

    Edit: clarification
