Homebrew Cask: Ignore outdated Apps Posted: 01 Feb 2019 02:55 AM PST I am using homebrew cask to maintain and upgrade my apps. Sip and Default Folder X are being updated using their own auto-update function and they are on the latest version. However, homebrew cask is showing me those apps via the "outdated" command with the exact same version number that is already installed. Is there any way to tell homebrew cask that these apps are being auto updated like other apps are doing? [link] [comments]
Bootcamp problem, can not choose BOOTCAMP Partition while installing Win10 Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:47 AM PST Hey, I want to install Win10 (April) with Bootcamp, everything works fine until the point where I have to choose the Partition where Windows should be installed. It says "Windows can't be installed on "...." " I am using a Samsung EVO 970 with the Sintech Adapter on my MacBook Pro 2014 (Mid) and a SanDisk 64GB USB 3.0 drive I tried some steps that I found online like rebooting and booting from the EFI Boot again -> Didn't work. I tried to erase the Partition in the window -> I could click next but than it said couldn't find any partitions so no didn't work I tried erasing the partition with the Mac utilities and formatted it into ExFat but that also didn't work. What am I doing wrong? I do not want to use Parallels [link] [comments]

Sound Works in Linux but not MacOs Posted: 31 Jan 2019 11:10 AM PST hi i have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) and it was working fine. I plugged in a DAC and then when removing it the headphone port, nor the built-in speakers worked. I've tried to hit the digital/analogue swith in hte headphones port with a tooth pick but i can't seem to locate it. I'm not sure this is the problem because it does not glow red, and also the pulse audio system settings work in linux. Perhaps the last thing i said means it is likely the problem. Does anyone have a suggestion for me? thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Jan 2019 02:26 PM PST So my office uses a terrible flash based billing system, and with latest browser updates last few months I have to manually re-enable flash just to bill every day. I used to keep firefox as a dedicated flash enabled browser just for billing while i use chrome and safari for everything else. Does anyone have any recommendations for either A: permanently enabling flash for just one website on a mainstream browser or B: a slightly less mainstream browser that works with flash that will essentially just be my billing software. I'm very aware of the security concerns with flash but unfortunately I need it and wouldn't use it for anything else. Any tips appreciated, thanks! [link] [comments]
Does renaming a file change it's format? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 02:09 PM PST for example I have an .mov file....if i rename it to .m4a is it actually converted? it seems to work? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Jan 2019 08:33 AM PST I have a 2.5 year old early 2015 MBA on High Sierra and I've been thinking about updating to Mojave, mainly for the dark mode. However, my laptop has needed to be fixed three times at Apple since last August. I am worried about updating to Mojave because I do not want the update to cause any more issues. If I do choose to update, could I risk needing my computer fixed a fourth time? [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Jan 2019 05:00 AM PST Two days ago I bought a second hand mid-2015 15" Macbook Pro, my first proper Mac though I've been using iOS since the iPhone 3Gs. Over the next month or so I'll be installing and removing many apps in my quest to find those I like. During this period I will be wanting to start fresh, for one reason or another. To do that I want a backup of my system drive in a clean state with all my preferences intact. I want this backup to be done using the stock OS only, avoiding Time Machine. I want a file that I can copy somewhere safe. Over five years ago, I tried going the Hackintosh route and I remember making backups like this but I can't remember the details. Disk Utility won't let me make an image from the startup disk, no matter what I boot from (USB, Recovery Mode). Two days of Googling has resulted in lots of posts about restoring DMG system backups, but not making them... and most of them are years old. Is it still safe to do with APFS under Mojave? I'm old school, so if it involves Terminal I'm all for it. I'm aware of CarbonCopyCloner, but I'll only get that when I'm certain I can make and restore backups using the stock system, and learn more of the internals while I'm at it. I'd also prefer to not have any major third party apps installed before I make this backup. [link] [comments]
How can I force install unsupported Mac OS X on my late 2006 MacBook Pro ? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 10:24 AM PST Welcome to this post ! I want to know how can I force install unsupported Mac OS X on my late 2006 MacBook Pro (MacBookPro2,2). I tried MacPostFactor with no success. Is there a plugin or other clean way to add 'delay send' functionality to Mail? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 07:00 AM PST I'd like my emails to get sent out ~60 seconds or so after I hit send in order to correct those invisible typos that only appear after I've hit send (IB4proofreadbetter). I don't think Mail allows this but perhaps there's a clean plugin I can use? I know you can schedule emails to send at a future date or time but that's not what I'm looking for. Thanks! Mojave to High Sierra or Wait? :0 Posted: 31 Jan 2019 03:07 AM PST Hey guys, I've been hating Mojave OS since my mac has slow down considerably and turned into a heat oven. So, my question is simple... should I stay or should I go? Should I just backup my files, go back to High Sierra and be happy or just wait for the next OS and pray? Cheers. [link] [comments] |
