    [Bug][10.14.3] Desktop-ception

Has anyone else witnessed this bug whereby a "Desktop" folder appears on the Desktop? I'm not sure how to trigger it, but I've noticed it a few times since upgrading to 10.14.3.

Macbook Pro shuts down when I close it, just replace the battery

    Posted: 05 Feb 2019 01:22 AM PST

So I was having problems with my Macbook Pro "15 retina display model crashing/shutting down. Once I would close it, I would have to leave it in for a while until it would turn back on. I would have a crash report and another box saying it shut down due to a problem.

I am a grad student, so I was able to have IT put in a new battery after he said that's what the problem was and I bought a new one. Battery had been pretty bad so it seemed plausible.

However, it still happened to me today when I finally got it back. He kept it for another day even after replacing the battery, because he said he needed to cycle the battery or something. So, seems like he knows what he's doing. I updated to Mojave 10.14.3 today.

Another student told me a few days ago she thinks it could be a combination of the battery and the charger. I've been looking up solutions online the last few hours and kept seeing reset SMC as well as disabling power nap.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and were able to solve it. I found a good amount of posts about it, but not a lot of people saying they were able to fix the problem. If anything I guess I will just take it back to him and mention the SMC thing.

Thank You for any help that can be provided.

Stay with High Sierra or upgrade to Mojave?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2019 09:25 PM PST

I've been helping my sister in law tonight troubleshoot an issue with iMessages app receiving an Internal Error. While I was researching solutions I ran into a lot of other posts related to Mojave specific issues. How is Mojave overall? I've been wanting to make the jump, but wanted to check to see if I am better off staying put for a bit.

    Thanks

Unknown symbol in my menu bar

    Posted: 04 Feb 2019 08:22 PM PST

Unknown symbol in my menu bar

Unknown icon in my menu bar. Cannot locate the app that it comes from. I recently installed iStat menus and today my free trial ran out. So I uninstalled the app, And my best guess is that that's where the icon is from. I have restarted my computer a couple times and no luck. All of my login items are ones that I know and have diff/ don't have menu icons.

    Circled in red

This is what happens when you click it.

I am also unable to remove it with ⌘dragging it away from the bar but no luck.

    Mojave battery issue

    Posted: 04 Feb 2019 05:29 PM PST

I had a serious issue on a newly bought (september 2018) MacBook Pro. Once I upgraded from high Sierra to Mojave, the battery life dropped: From 9/10 hours to 6 I searched a little bit on the network and I removed 'dynamic wallpaper' The battery now is around 8h.

Cursor not having Night Shift on external monitor - Mojave 10.14.2

Cursor not having Night Shift on external monitor - Mojave 10.14.2

Recently upgraded to a 2018 MBP and noticed that on my external monitor (Dell U2715H, connected via HDMI via an Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter) and while on Night Shift mode, the cursor looks like it's operating under non-Night Shift mode. MacBook internal screen works just fine.

I'm attaching a couple of photos for comparison (hope it shows, photos are taken on mobile and office light conditions ).

    Any ideas?

EDIT: Added method of monitor connection to MBP.

Why am I being prompted to constantly re-enter my Google credentials? (Mail, System Prefs)

    Posted: 04 Feb 2019 12:53 PM PST

I have macOS syncing my google accounts and until recently it's worked perfectly but now it keeps asking me to re-enter my credentials for seemingly no reason. None of my other devices do this, is it a bug in the new public beta or something? Is anyone else experiencing this?

    Safari glitch on youtube?!

    Hey there!

This weekend I needed to reinstall macOS Mojave and after this I just noticed this weird youtube glitch!
    Is anyone with this glitch?

On websites with youtube videos, if I click on the fullscreen option it reload the web page...

PS: I did not used my last Time Machine backup. This is a clean install of macOS. Fullscreen animation is soooo laggy too...

This white area is the glitch...
