My iPhone restarts sometimes when I press the lock button. Posted: 05 Feb 2019 06:56 PM PST I don't really know what to do. I have an iPhone 6 that my sister gave after using it for about 1-2 years. When she gave it to me, the home button was not working (neither the Touch ID function). I dropped it about 2 weeks ago and the LCD was broken, and had the screen repaired a weeks ago. Then I dropped it again, but there was just a small crack next to the home button. Since the last drop, sometismes when I press the lock button to check my phone, it sometimes restarts itself. My theory is that it detects as if I was pressing the home and the lock button and doing what I previously said, so I was planning on installing JailBreak on it and somehow deactivate the home button functionality in order to make it stop (I don't really know if I can do this). HELP PLEASE!! [link] [comments] |
iPhone 6 won't charge/turn on- way to save photos? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 01:54 PM PST My gf's co-worker is super upset because she couldn't get her iPhone 6 to take a charge, and unfortunately didn't back up any photos (I know, I know). It sounds like she's cleaned the charge port, tried different cables, different wall plugs, the basic stuff. I'm also not sure exactly if it's the actual charging port or the battery. No word on whether that phone has gotten very hot while using/charging. She has taken it to the Apple store and it sounds like they just said "sorry, you're out of luck." Do you guys have any last ditch options? -I know we could replace the battery, but that's a little worrying because I know you're supposed to back your phone up before that to prevent losing data, correct? -A local store claimed they could replace the charging port, if that's the problem. Has anyone had any luck doing that? -Would it be possible to breakout a charging cord and use individual wires to try and connect power to it? -Are there somehow any 3rd party apps you recommend to connect to a dead phone? -Any other ideas? TLDR: Friend needs pics off iPhone 6 that won't turn on and Apple store said she's screwed. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
None of my browsers work on cellular Posted: 05 Feb 2019 05:15 PM PST I went away to Europe from the US for a month a few weeks ago. Before i left my browsers worked fine (Safari and Chrome on AT&T). They worked fine with data roaming on overseas too. Ever since I got home though nothing loads over cellular now on both browsers. iphone xs max ios 12.1.3 (same issue before updating on last ios version too) [link] [comments] |
2nd time I've had a bug that apple doesn't even know about Posted: 05 Feb 2019 04:38 PM PST So this is the 2nd time i've ran into this with repairing 7 and 7 plus charging ports. The first time I ever repaired a 7/7 plus charging port many months ago was with a 7 plus I was restoring. I changed the port with no issues but when the phone turned on it went into a boot loop, had no connection at all on 3utools, iTunes, device manager when on the "connect to iTunes screen" after some cleaning of the board the phone managed to show life with the loading bar and I was greeted with the setup screen however... this is where it gets odd... The phone showed it was searching for a network despite there not being a sim, would not show signs of charging when plugged in (although it did turn back on after charging when it died), only showed the serial number on the info page (no IMEI or regulatory info, was verryyyy slow and froze after selecting a language. I took this phone to apple where I was told the phone could be fake... I obviously didn't tell them I repaired it myself so I thought I must've damaged the board. I gave up and its now in my parts bin. So now, many charging port repairs later, I have a customers iPhone 7 that showed the exact same symptoms but then died and is stuck on the charging logo. ever since my first encounter on this issue I've been very careful with static bands, rubberized mat etc. I was wondering if anyone knows what this issue could be as the apple employee said there was nothing on their internal info about it and there's nothing online. thanks in advance, ill try get a video of the phone if it boots into this mode again. Can't set-up Iphone with Icloud backup Posted: 05 Feb 2019 04:00 PM PST Recently I lost my Iphone. I didn't make any itunes backup, so I wanted to set-up my new one with everything that I have on my Icloud. However, even though I have the full 5Gb of storage occupied, ios tells me there is no icloud backup and I can't find any other way to transfer all that data. When I set-up my previous iphone with the same method (and the same apple id) I didn't have any problem, please help! [link] [comments] |
Lightning Connector Doesn't Seem to be Working on iPhone 7 Posted: 05 Feb 2019 09:50 AM PST Hello, I have an iPhone 7, and encountered a weird issue this morning. My phone doesn't seem to be taking a charge in its port. I hook it up to a charger like I normally do, and it doesn't charge. I've tried to reset it, but the status hasn't changed at all. At first, I thought the whole port was shot, because when I plug headphones in, they also don't work and the sound comes out of the speaker. However, when I power it off and plug it into the charge in its powered off state, it turns back on. This leads me to believe that while the port doesn't seem to be fully functional, it is still operational...otherwise why would it power back on when I plug back in? Anyway, I'm really looking to try and avoid having to go get a new phone or the hassle of them trying to diagnose this and then charge me a ton of money. Are there any theories or solutions? Thanks a lot. [link] [comments] |

Safari crashes every time opened on iPhone 6 Posted: 05 Feb 2019 02:51 AM PST Whenever I try to open Safari, it brings up the new tab page, then crashes and brings me back to the homescreen. To fix it, I've done all the usual 'turn it off and on' again routine, deleted all history and cookies, turned off iCloud syncing and bookmarks, factory reset and restored my phone from a backup, made sure I'm using the latest iOS (iOS 12.1.3), but nothing seems to have worked, and it's been a few weeks now. I've noticed that loading up the Passwords & Accounts in Settings also causes it to crash. [link] [comments] |
