Does anybody use a case for their remote?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 07:15 PM PST

I hate reaching for the remote and accidentally doing an action such as change the channel or show a menu. So I was wondering if anybody has tried using a case for their remote and if they liked it

    Simple but functional video player

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 12:14 AM PST

I am looking for a simple yet functional video player. Main focus is homevideo and other misc video files that I store on my NAS. So no plex or infuse (which are library driven players).

I also tried: - playerxtreme (also more library driven, crashes) - vlc. Does the job, but has an ugly interface, needs to login on my NAS each time and doesn't have a list view). - fe file explorer. Does the job, but shows all files (srt, jpg, xml, etc) - videoexplorer. Constant stream errors, needs to ead the files completely before playing, and ugly - playable. Crashes. - 8 player. Hidious, not intuitive.

Does anybody have a great tip?

    TV Recommendation

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 09:03 PM PST

I finally got some money saved up to replace my old plasma and I'm ready to upgrade. I'm using the ATV 4k and a PlayStation pro and would like the size to be between 55-60 inch.

Obviously I want 4k and HDR, to be able to turn it on and off and adjust volume with the with the ATV remote. Can the remote also change the input for the tv? Is refresh rate an issue? I will mostly be using this for 4k movies, occasional basketball games and the Playstation gaming. Anything else I want that you can suggest?

Edit: Price range up to 1500.00

Apple TV 4 won't recognize Ethernet

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 09:37 AM PST

    OK experts-

Apple TV 4 with an Airport Extreme and shitty Spectrum internet modem.

All works well on wi-fi but for the life of me I cannot get the apple tv to see an ethernet connection.

Only going down this road because the apple tv keeps stalling during streams, forcing restarts across the board. any advice?

Peer-to-peer AirPlay, How Does it Work?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 10:59 AM PST

Today's most popular post is about seeing your neighbour's AppleTV in your screen mirroring menu, even when they're not on your wifi network.

    I researched this a bit and found it's a feature called peer-to-peer AirPlay .

Even after reading the article, I don't get how it works. Is it using wifi or Bluetooth to connect your iPhone with AppleTV? I've tried it and it works. But even when screen mirroring is on, both wifi and Bluetooth menus show no active connections. So, how is it connecting the two devices?

I wasn't able to find helpful info on Apple's support site either.

    Thanks.

    Apple TV vs Chromecast

    Posted: 31 Jan 2019 06:01 AM PST

I used to be deep into the Google ecosystem, but have been diving into the Apple ecosystem lately. I have macs, iphone, and iPad.

But I still have chromecasts and google homes, and love the voice controls.

What benefits would I have if I switched to an Apple TV? Definitely want to check out apples tv service when it launches
