Posted: 12 Jan 2019 03:56 PM PST Are there any sites or communities that create dynamic wallpapers for Mojave? All the search results are from when Mojave first released, but I'm interested to see if any more have been created. [link] [comments]
Where can I find a .dmg for GarageBand that’s still compatible with El Capitan? Posted: 12 Jan 2019 04:01 PM PST I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but here goes. I have a 2009 iMac that's running El Capitan 10.11.6, but I cannot download GarageBand from the App Store. Is there anywhere trustworthy online where I can find the .dmg for it? I found a torrent for it, but I don't think it would be wise to attempt that... Any help would be appreciated! [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 Jan 2019 01:25 AM PST On my Late 2013 MBP with 750m i have noticed that when switching between iGPU and dGPU that dGPU tends to lag more. I have noticed this is Chrome scrolling and in general system UI just felt slower. [link] [comments]
Default to Landscape (FaceTime) Posted: 12 Jan 2019 07:58 PM PST Is there a way in Terminal to have the FaceTime camera to default to landscape rather than portrait? Kind of like how there's a way to force the print menu to open in advanced mode all the time. [link] [comments]

"Your Mac needs a firmware update in order to install to this volume." during macOS Mojave install Posted: 12 Jan 2019 03:26 AM PST Hi! A couple of days ago a customer gave me an iMac 21.5 Late 2013 because it was very slow (1tb 5400rpm). He never updated it, so it had macOS Yosemite (!!!!!). Yesterday I opened it, cleaned it and upgraded with a samsung 860 evo 500gb SSD. Today I started it with my Mojave USB installer, formatted the SSD to APFS and proceeded to the installation. When I had to choose where to install it, the SSD was greyed out and the title's message appeared. Since I'm in a hurry I formatted again the SSD to HFS+, and finished the install. To my surprise, the SSD now it's in APFS!!! And there isn't any firmware update, nor the Mac beeped during the install as some older Macs do when updated to last versions of macOS. Is that because this iMac never updated its firmware (or something else) with the newer macOS? Do I have to re-install 10.13.6 (as I have it on an USB) and then update it to Mojave or I can finish working on it? I think that this is a problem only during the install. Thanks in advance for the help! [link] [comments]

Easiest method to restore deleted files? Posted: 12 Jan 2019 04:18 PM PST So I reinstalled MAMP on top of my existing install without backing my data up, somewhat thoughtlessly since it said it would preserve my data, and while all of my htdocs files are still there, it seems to have nuked my database files. I've currently got Disk Drill running but with several hours of searching remaining, I'm hoping there's a better method? [link] [comments]

Disable function key shortcuts in all apps Posted: 12 Jan 2019 08:49 AM PST Hi guys, I want to remap some function keys (F1, F2,...) to do something global, but some existing apps already have shortcuts for these keys. I would need to go through all my apps and disable all these shortcuts one by one. Is there any better way do this? Like don't trigger these keys in all apps or something like this. Thanks for your help. [link] [comments]
Has Safari 12 gotten any better? Posted: 12 Jan 2019 08:47 AM PST It was so slow on my 2012 MBP back in September/October that I had to wipe and roll back to High Sierra. But even my partner as of yesterday still complains about how slow it is, and that's saying something if they notice. I'd love to update to Mojave again but not if Safari hasn't improved at all. Posted: 12 Jan 2019 04:34 AM PST Hello, new mac user here. Bought a 8TB external drive (western digital my book). It has its own power supply. I download content on my laptop > transfer it to HDD > watch on TV. Here is my question: when my laptop is not plugged in i get read/write speeds of 35MB/s, but when my laptop is plugged into the wall i am getting read/write speeds of 125MB/s. why is there a difference? How do i achieve the higher speed while my laptop is not plugged in? My laptop is a macbook 12" running macOS. 1 usb-c port, is all it has, so i am using a adapter so that i am able to plug in both power and HDD to my laptop. [link] [comments] |
