    Best addictive games for iPad?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2019 11:26 AM PST

I am so picky for mobile games. There's a million arcade style games on the App Store, I don't want those. There's a ton of console style 3D games like Minecraft and fort nite, don't want stuff like that. I'm looking for a building, collecting, gridding style game. My two favorite games right now are BTD6 and epic battle simulator, but I'm getting bored of both of those. I must download a few dozen games a month and never find something I'm into.

I prefer paid games so there's not as many adds or as much emphasis on micro transactions.

Any ideas? I just want a game i want to play all day long

    iPad Pro glass screen protectors

    Posted: 13 Jan 2019 09:53 AM PST

I know its a long shot but is there a way to get into contact with apple engineers to understand what the problem is with iPad pros and glass screen protectors for a fix ? The issue seems to be the conductivity of the device and the user. If you have a glass screen protector and notice it only works sometimes that's cause you're most likely touching the metal of the iPad or being grounded. I need to know if this has any possible software fix because I hate using iPad screens without glass protectors because the oleophobic coating on them almost never lasts and can start to look gross after a while.

Has anyone found a bumper case that works with the Smart Keyboard Folio?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2019 01:46 PM PST

I have three new Pro and really want the Smart Keyboard Folio, but I take my iPad to school everyday and I'm afraid it'll get beat up on the exposed sides. Has anyone found a bumper-style case that protects the sides but allows use of the keyboard? Thanks!

Local two-player games my girlfriend and I could play together?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2019 12:42 PM PST

I've found a few, but they're just chocked full of micro purchases or ads or just poorly made in general.

I wanted Marble mixer, but it's gone evidently.

    Any suggestions?

Hello. I'm wondering if anyone downloaded emulators on iPad? I am a bit iffy about it as I don't want any viruses or something of that nature.

One SIM for iPhone, iPad, and LTE Apple Watch: Gaming the system? (x-post r/AppleWatch)

    Posted: 13 Jan 2019 11:19 AM PST

Hello everyone! So I am the new owner of a WiFi-only iPad, thinking that forgoing LTE in favor of more storage would be a smarter choice due to budget constraints. However in my first week of ownership, I have already discovered the plight of shoddy public WiFi and slow/unreliable iPhone tethering. This feels pretty unreasonable to me, so I'm hoping to come up with a solution before my return window is up.

So I'm fairly certain that you're able to just throw your iPhone SIM into an iPad to gain access to your data pool, but normally that leaves you unable to receive phone calls and regular text messages. However with the advent of LTE Apple Watches, this leads me to believe that even if your iPhone SIM is being used in an iPad, you should be able to get any calls or texts you would've otherwise missed.

Am I wrong in this assumption? Are there any caveats to this system? Like what if your iPhone is in proximity to the Apple Watch, possibly connected to WiFi, but doesn't have an LTE connection while the Apple Watch does? This house of cards feels just a bit to precarious to be without some glaring issue that I'm not seeing.

Matte Screen Protectors Review: Does it matter which ones you get? Is the Paperlike worth it?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2019 02:26 PM PST

A matte screen protector has several advantages (over a naked iPad or a clear screen protector): 1. It hides fingerprints on the iPad. 2. It has better anti-glare properties. 3. It adds a bit of friction so that the the pencil writes better.

This does come with a downside though: the screen quality is greatly affected as the colours become dull and the sharpness is decreased.

So every now and then, the topic of whether the Paperlike is worth it pops up. The main selling point is that it's supposed to write very well—so much so that if feels almost like writing paper. However, it is relatively expensive and many have argued that you can just get any cheap matte screen protector for the same effect.

I was a happy Paperlike customer until I got into a bunch of arguments about whether it was actually worth the premium price. It was difficult to make a good argument as most people just buy a set of screen protectors and stick with it if they are happy, or give up if they are not.

I decided that I had enough, so I went ahead and ordered two different screen protectors off Amazon UK: J&D (£8.95 for a pack of three) and kwmobile (£8.40 for a pack of two), which are both way cheaper than what I had to pay for the PaperLike (£25.74 for a pack of two). I have used all of them for at least a week each (nearly), and I think I can finally write up a proper review.

    https://imgur.com/a/L93ETOq

I am aware that the options that are you have in the US may be different (I couldn't try iCarez or Supershiedz that others have suggested), but those two were the only ones that I could find in Amazon UK for the 12.9 inch 2018 Pro. I am reviewing them in the order that I had tried them.

    Paperlike

    Application Process: 5/5

It was dead easy to apply. It has guide stickers that help you align the screen protector at a 100% success rate. The wet wipes were decent, but the dry wipes were really small, although it might not be a huge issue. They even have a video tutorial on their website to make sure that you're doing everything perfectly.

    Screen quality: 2/5

The first thing you would notice is that screen quality dramatically decreases upon application. Everything looks grainy and you can't help but notice that it is there. I also find that it disperses the light a bit too much, so you always get a yellowish tinge if there's any light source in the room. You do get used to it after a while, but you're bound to get comments on why your screen looks so strange from other people.

    Writing feel: 5/5

This is really where the paperlike shines. I think saying that it feels exactly like paper might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I do believe that it is as paper-like as it can get. My handwriting is drastically improves and it just feels great.

    J&D

    Application Process: 4/5

Wow it was hard to get it on right. There were no guide stickers that came with it. To make things worse you peel off the inner screen protector plastic from the bottom of the screen instead of the top, which makes it quite a bit harder to align. I managed to do it in the end but it felt like sheer luck. The wipes were pretty standard. It does come in a pack of 3 instead of the usual 2, so you do get more tries if you mess it up.

    Screen quality: 4/5

I thought all matte screen protectors looked horrible. Apparently not. It is a matte screen protector so you can't really avoid the graininess, but it wasn't that bad at all (in comparison to the Paperlike anyway)! You still get all the advantages of not needing to worry about fingerprints and glare. You can completely forget that it's even there after a while.

    Writing feel: 3/5

There is some friction so my handwriting is definitely still a bit better than on glass, but it does not compare with the Paperlike. There's a bit of a rubbery texture to it but it is very subtle. It's good overall, but I had to give this a 3/5 simply because I had to give the Paperlike a higher score for this aspect.

    kwmobile

    Application process: 2/5

Again, no guide stickers, but the plastic does peel off from the right direction. The wet wipe was completely soaked in IPA and it was horrible to use. Make sure you bring your own microfibre cloth because there's no way you'd be able to clean the screen with what they provided. The tape that they provided to absorb the dust was large and thin, and just difficult to use. Compared to the J&D, you only get two sets so you need to be a lot more careful. What's interesting though, in that they only provide one set of wet wipes and stickers, so it's as though they're expecting you to fail on first try instead of having more as spare or if you had more iPads.

    Screen quality: 4/5

I did not notice any difference in screen quality compared to J&D. Perhaps this is just how a standard matte protector looks like and it's just the Paperlike that sucks.

    Writing feel: 1/5

Wow this has been a tough week (I lied, it's actually more like six days, but whatever). This screen protector felt really rubbery it makes it really difficult to write, especially if your handwriting is tiny. It's the kind of friction that makes your pen jump around as you drag it across the screen rather than the grinding kind. I might be exaggerating here and it might not affect everyone the same, but I absolutely hated it. I'm so glad that it's over.

    Conclusion:

Not all matte screen protectors are the same. If you've previously tried the Paperlike and you couldn't bear with the screen quality, it might be worth trying out a different one since I find the iPad's screen to be a horrible fingerprint magnet. Today, I had the choice of either going back to the Paperlike or J&D, and I chose the Paperlike because I mainly use my iPad for writing and I just miss it so much.

Unresponsive Touch Screen on iPad Pro 12.9 2017

    Posted: 12 Jan 2019 07:05 PM PST

I know this issue has been reported a lot online but it seems it never got the attention that the bending of the new iPad Pros or the iPhone XS antenna issues got.

But essentially the touch screen becomes incredibly unresponsive for several seconds at a time. It's gotten progressively worse overtime and when I'm taking notes it becomes really fucking annoying when trying to switch tools.

I'd buy the new iPad Pro but I need the headphone jack for making music and I can't sell it online knowing it has a defect (sometimes I wish I didn't have morals).

My warranty ran out in October before the problem cropped up and now I don't want to pay through my ass for a repair, but reading online people have said they just got replacements. Thing is, Apple aren't selling the 12.9 2017 model anymore so I'm not sure what to do.

Has anyone had this issue? Any fixes?

Logitech Slim Combo Keyboard / Case for iPad 12.9" 3rd Generation (Oct. 2018) Model

    Posted: 12 Jan 2019 04:01 PM PST

    Q. - Does the existing Logitech "Slim Combo" keyboard / case fit the iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Generation? I believe that the answer is no, but asking.

    Q. - Has Logitech announced a new/revised version of the above to fit the iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Gen? Not that I can find.

I'm buying an iPad Pro 12.9" for my mom as a replacement for her (dying) Windows laptop. She uses an iPhone, so the interface should be familiar and easy for her. All she does is surf the web, send emails and sometimes write paper correspondence. Since there's a Google Docs app and AirPrint, she can do that too -- as long as I can get her a decent keyboard.

The existing Logitech Slim Combo keyboard / case definitely fits the 1st and 2nd gen iPad Pro. It looks better (subjective) than all of the other 3rd party keyboards I have found. Then again, I don't think it fits the 3rd Gen. iPad, although maybe one is in the works???

I'm willing to set her up temporarily with an older Logitech bluetooth keyboard for her to use for a few months until a fullblown Logitech keyboard / case is released for the 3rd Gen. iPad, but is that even in the works? I've looked at the Zugg and Brydge keyboards announced at CES 2019 and am not impressed. And the Apple keyboard seems like a whole lot of price for not a lot of value.

    Suggestions?

    Third Party USB-C Chargers...

    Posted: 12 Jan 2019 08:51 PM PST

Has anyone had any issues with third party USB-C chargers damaging your iPad Pros? I purchased a Dodocool 45W USB-C charger off Amazon about a week ago, and it's been working fine, but I just watched a video on Youtube where an iPhone repair guy said that cheap chargers can fry your device.
