    Hello all,

    Following the /u/s0uthwes' updated release of futurerestore with support for iOS 12 this week, I have compiled his changes into a windows binary.

    ​

    Some notes/gotchas:

    • There is a good guide on using futurerestore on /u/s0uthwes' GitHub.
    • The compiled version is for Windows 64-bit only - if anyone desperately needs 32-bit please PM me - but getting a 32-bit version working would require essentially recompiling all of futurerestore again, which, if I am totally honest, is not something that's very high on my list of things to do.
    • This release has Odysseus support, so in theory you should be able to restore most 32-bit devices to any iOS for which you matching blobs.
    • While I do have access to a Windows machine to test wether or not my resulting builds run, I do not have a device to test the restore process on, so please proceed at your own risk!

    [Discussion] New Discord Server for Beginning Security Researchers

    Over the past year I had a dream to become a security researcher, but I never fully committed to my dream until now. Over the past 3 days I have been reading The iOS Hackers Handbook which is a very great book so far to start with. While it was great that I started what I always wanted to do, I had this thought about having a server where every beginner or skilled researcher could come together and share what they knew and give helpful sources for others so everyone who had my same dream could achieve it as well. So today I decided to make a discord server called "iOS Security Learning" for everyone who want to join in on the quest to hopefully become a iOS security researcher.

    One major thing I wanted to say before Linking the discord channel :

    • This isn't a meme channel : A friend of mine made many twitter group chats for the same purpose, but it soon turned into a simple spammy, meme channel. This isn't what this channel is about. Yes we take jokes and we enjoy jokes, but we don't want people joking around 24/7 here because after all, we're trying to become security researchers ;P

    With that being said, I hope you will join US on the quest to become a future security researcher. See you there :)

    [Question] H3lix RC5 + New Substrate (for 32-bit iPhone jailbreakers)

    So here is my experience with H3lix (positive mostly)... I just recently got sick of using my iPhone 5 as a primary phone so I could keep my iPhone SE at 10.2. So I flipped that around, clearing my jailbreak on my SE, and then jailbroke my iPhone 5 (running iOS 10.3.3, highest available version) instead (as WiFi only, just for fun) using H3lix.

    The first time, I used RC5; it worked but there was no substrate; Cydia worked though. I was able to find RC1 on a torrent and tried that. Nice, substrate works (but had to clear the uicache all the time)! Then we get the recent release of Saurik's new substrate so I install that; then wonder if that would fix the RC5 version substrate and it did (worked as well as Yalu102 did on my 64-bit SE)! :)

    My question is does anyone have an unjailbroken iPhone 5 or 5C they would be willing to jailbreak? I don't see a RC6 release coming (limited devices effected and they are older devices) so just wanted to write a quick tutorial on making RC5 work with the new substrate... I don't think the use of RC1 was needed, but the new substrate is, but currently have no way to test this theory.

    As a complete novice to FutureRestore, I wanted help in regards of downgrading my iPhone 5s. I don't know if this is possible or not but I wanted to know if it is possible to downgrade my iPhone 5s (which is on iOS 12.1.2) to iOS 11.3.1 with the blobs that I have saved. If it is not possible to downgrade then, a simple No can suffice. However, if it is possible to downgrade, please kindly let me know. Help a fellow man. Thank You!

    That's what's mainly stoping me from updating, iOS 11 just has such bad battery life and stability(not unc0ver just iOS 11). Otherwise, what other tweaks can I get now and be able to keep them by enabling them in filza in iOS 12?
