Would it be worth it to upgrade the RAM in a 7,1 MacBook? Posted: 12 Jan 2019 11:20 PM PST I'm thinking about upgrading the ram in my 7,1 MacBook so that it could run High Sierra. This is what im thinking of buying. Would it just be better to buy a new MacBook or will this upgrade be good? Thank you for your reply's in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jan 2019 07:30 PM PST Hey. I have a Macbook Pro 2013. As of late I'm having overheating issues where the fans would just go crazy. I don't even need to do much for them to kick into overdrive. I'm not sure if the machine is getting too old or if perhaps I just need to have it cleaned (can it be cleaned?). Where would one start to figure out what is going on? I really miss my silent mac. [link] [comments]
Putting in an NVME SSD into a Macbook Retina but didn't update to High Sierra. Any solutions? Posted: 12 Jan 2019 10:53 PM PST Hey guys I bought my Macbook retina with a missing SSD. Decided to do the upgrade to NVME but it's not detecting my NVME drive. I'm guessing the previous owner did not update to High Sierra. Is there anyway to install High Sierra or get the drive detected without putting in an original Samsung SSD? Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jan 2019 09:42 PM PST My machine cut out to black instantly without warning on an apparent full charge while plugged in. Won't boot now, screen gives the blinking low battery/plug in charger sign, even with the charger plugged in. I tried an SMC reset but no dice, not sure what to try next. Does this sound like something gone wrong in the battery itself or could it be the board not reading the battery correctly? I'm willing to try replacing the battery if that is the likely fix, but wanted to get advice on stuff to try first or whether there's other ways to diagnose it. [link] [comments]
Lifelong Windows user. First MBP on the way. Any tips on a smooth transition? Posted: 12 Jan 2019 10:21 AM PST I'm mainly a graduate student, and after a piss poor experience with a PC manufacturer, I decided to return that one and get one of the 3rd gen MacBook Pros I think (mid-2014) since the specs matched my needs (also do some casual gaming in Cities Skylines). I don't think I've used a Mac for more than 45 minutes at a time since the 90s. Are there any recommended guides on how to ease the transition? I really just want a rig that works, I can get my work done, and game a bit on. [link] [comments]
Is the late 2012 mbp still worth it ? Posted: 12 Jan 2019 06:34 AM PST Okay so i use a early 2015 MBP, and i want another Mbp for my brother, he argues that he wants the exact same as mine, however we couldn't find it on the second hand market, what we did find however was a late 2012 mbp, all the specs are the same as mine, with the only difference being mine is 2.7 GHz however the late 2012 model is 2.5 GHz. Will the 0.2 GHz make a huge difference in performance, also note that I do heavy tasks such as video editing however my brother for the most part does not have any heavy use I think he mostly does only web surfing word processing and IBM SPSS for university work, should I buy him 2012 model ?
