Apple needs to add the opposite of Mac unlocking with the Apple Watch.

Unlocking the Mac with the Apple Watch is just fine, why not do the opposite, locking the Mac when walking away.

Another one; a notification on your watch when the phone got disconnected. I left it at work one day, and noticed the red phone icon while in the car, 20 km further. This would save anyone who forget their phone, one notification would fix that.

Best app to have offline music on the apple watch?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2019 07:20 AM PST

    Good day,

I tried the native music app yesterday, I created a playlist on itunes, got iTunes Match, sync everything etc. The playlist I created on iTunes is completely different on my iPhone, not a single song is the same and my watch, after spending the night sync, is totally unable to even load a song.

So now that I totally given up on itunes, what app can I use to have offline song on my apple watch? Anything but apple app please.

    Thank you

    Apple Watch for Musicians

    Posted: 10 Jan 2019 05:42 AM PST

Any musicians in this sub? If so, does your AW play a role in helping to get better (practicing, composing, etc)?

Also, are there any good AW apps for musicians (tuner, metronome, and such)?

I'm just curious if it's possible to use my AW to help me become a better musician.

Apple should add the ability to lock your phone from your watch.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2019 07:14 PM PST

I've been seeing tons of suggestions today, so I thought I'd contribute my own. Say, if you leave your phone on the coffee table or in another room, you can lock it before you return to go get it to prevent any unwanted snooping and/or theft.

Buying a cellular Watch in a non-cellular supported country: A (long) cautionary tale

    Posted: 09 Jan 2019 09:43 PM PST

A bit of backstory on how I got here, with the release of the Series 4 I had expressed some interest that I'd quite like to upgrade from my Series 2 and take the opportunity to go from the Aluminium styling to Stainless Steel to match my iPhone X. Sadly, I live in New Zealand where the lack of eSim support from all carriers means that the SS isn't sold here due to it only coming as a cell version. However, my partner had a trip to Australia coming up towards the end of the year and he figured the Watch could be a Christmas gift for me. Lucky me 😊

Neither of us had actually done any looking into what support options would be available should an issue arise. I guess we assumed that since Apple is a big multinational company that organising repairs or replacements through Apple directly wouldn't be a big deal, just some extra lead time with international shipping but that it likely wasn't going to be a problem anyway since device failures haven't really been an issue for us in the past.

Unfortunately, murphy's law stepped in and the new Watch appears to have some kind of battery issue as I'm not getting much more than 6-8 hours out of a full charge. Nothing seems to resolve this - the problem persists even with a factory reset and configuring it as a new Watch.

At this point, Apple support wants to action a replacement. As I have AppleCare+ they set up an express replacement and all seems well, but a couple hours after I get an email saying that it's been canceled and to get in touch. I do, they seem puzzled, claim there's a bug with their systems and they'll call back the next day. They do this, try it again but a few hours later I again get an email saying it's cancelled. I don't hear back from Apple for a few days so I get in touch again and now they want to try a mail in replacement instead. Unfortunately this doesn't go very far as it won't even let him set this up. Basically it seems to boil down to the fact that since that model isn't sold in my country they can't action a replacement directly to me, either through Apple's own policies or due to laws revolving around cellular devices.

The support assistant is himself getting frustrated at this process but really the only thing he can suggest that I do is ship the Watch to a friend or family member that I might have in Australia where the replacement can be shipped to and then that person can ship it back to me. Alternatively, I could hold off until I'm next in Australia and take care of it then. However it's pretty clear at this point that it's not going to be something that's resolved soon.

I guess my TL;DR is, think twice before buying a cellular version of the Watch if it's not sold in your country. If you ever need support for it, it's not going to be an easy process to get resolved.

Series 2 to Series 4 Upgrade was worth it

    Posted: 10 Jan 2019 07:31 AM PST

So I only had my series 2 for about a year (purchased brand new right before the series 3 came out). About a month ago it started having issues with Siri constantly getting triggered and what appeared to be phantom presses of the crown. Tried to get it repaired by Apple but they weren't able to replicate the issue in their repair center. I ended up breaking down and just buying a series 4 and just wanted to say what a difference in speed there is between the series 2 and series 4. I honestly loved my old watch and I'm still a little salty that Apple couldn't repair the watch when it was still under warranty. But upgrading to the series 4 is like a night and day difference in terms of speed and screen size.

    Passes not showing in wallet

    Posted: 10 Jan 2019 05:22 AM PST

Is there anyone else who has had issues with passes not showing up in their wallet? It always worked for me on my Series 3 watch, but since upgrading to Series 4 they are not showing up. I just unpaired my Series 3 watch hoping that would correct the issue, but no luck. Have also tried restarting my phone and watch, but that didn't help either. I would appreciate any suggestions!

What Apple Watch band is your favorite? I find Apple bands to be the most comfortable

    Posted: 09 Jan 2019 03:54 PM PST

    Checking before buying.

    Posted: 10 Jan 2019 04:28 AM PST

I'm considering the Apple Watch series 4. Are there any shortcommings or negative parts I should know about before buying?

I want to use the apple watch mainly for work. I'm often in meetings where my phone is blowing up and I want the possibility to discreetly check if it's important or not. I would also like to not have my phone in my pocket all the time while walking in my office building and/or home and still able to answer calls.

Also, will this device be able to recieve notifications from my phone, table and computer?

Goddamit Apple Watch, notify me already!

    Posted: 10 Jan 2019 04:25 AM PST

I've had the AW4 around a week now and I don't know why but it's always maddeningly late with notifications. My iPhone X is sitting 5 feet from me and made a new email sound nearly 10 minutes ago but my watch, sitting on my wrist, is doing nothing at all. No noise, no actual email. Actually, it's just made a noise now but not for the same email that arrived on my phone 10 mins ago. This email notified me on my watch but made no noise on my phone! I don't know what's going on but the whole notification system seems really unreliable since I got the watch - rock solid before!

Is there anything I can change to make it better?

Messenger app - scribble buggy as hell

    Posted: 10 Jan 2019 01:37 AM PST

So I noticed that the Facebook messenger app is almost non-functional. You can scribble but when you try to add a space or delete or even cancel the message the buttons don't work or maybe every 10th press. S4 on latest firmware.

    Anyone else noticed this issue?

Did Apple Change the Astronomy Face in watchOS 5?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2019 03:58 PM PST

Hey Everyone! I just got a series 3 for Christmas and loving it so far. When I first got the watch I loved the astronomy face and how it could quickly change between the Earth, Moon and Solar System. I used to be able to tap the face the the two options would appear in each bottom corner. Now, after updating the watch to OS 5, those options seem to be gone. Is there a way to get this back to the old layout? Thanks!

Asking Siri on Watch to play something audio comes through iPhone?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2019 11:30 PM PST

    Hi all,

When I ask Siri on my Apple Watch to play a podcast or radio station, it starts playing it through my iPhone even when I've got my Bluetooth headphones connected to the watch. If I manually go and start playing something on the watch, the audio comes through my headphones.

    How can I fix this?

Needed recommendation for 3rd party “premium” rubber or woven straps?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2019 07:32 PM PST

Loving my 3rd gen watch and I'd love to pick up some extra bands. Specifically either woven, sport loop, or sport bands that look and feel as nice as my Apple bands.

Bonus points if they match various "neutral" Apple Watch face colors (e.g. walnut, cocoa, stone).
