AirPlay is great, but for a lot of media it is dated and unnecessary.

Apple's concepts of Handoff and Continuity that have expanded throughout the product lines over the last few years are sorely needed on Apple TV.

It is really quite simple. If you're playing Netflix on your iOS device, the ability to AirPlay w/Handoff should exist. Instead of streaming from your iOS device, playback would resume natively on AppleTV. That's it.

This becomes incredibly useful as you realize that not only is this an improvement to AirPlay user experience, but it allows your iOS device to serve as a guide and UI for your Apple TV. I can do all my browsing on my phone, and then initiate playback that starts natively on Apple TV, even if I'm not in the same room.

Setting up Atmos connection on Apple TV

    Posted: 14 Jan 2019 11:47 PM PST

Hi all, I've been browsing this subreddit and other sites trying to get a definitive answer on correctly setting up Atmos.

I am purchasing the following equipment:

    • Sony Atmos HT-Z9F

    • Sony X900F

    • Apple TV 4K

To get Atmos to work, do I need to connect the ATV to HDMI input 1 on the soundbar, then connect the soundbar to the tv over arc?

I know that arc doesn't support Atmos, so does this setup work because I am directly connecting the ATV to an HDMI input on the soundbar?

My only other input is a cable box over HDMI, and I'm not sure if that should go into the soundbar directly or the back of the TV (I know the cable box will not support Atmos).

After TVOS 12.1.1 update, a few games fill only the top left quarter of the screen. ATV 4K

    Posted: 14 Jan 2019 08:48 PM PST

Apple TV 4K, Belkin cable, Samsung 4K 6-series. Updated from 11.4 to 12.1.1 and a few games now only display in the top left quarter of the screen. AG Drive (splash screen is full screen, game is not), and Riptide GP2. The rest of the games, including the Riptide sequel, Riptide GP: Renegade display just fine.

Tried deleting and reinstalling the games to no avail. I also turned off Frame rate and Dynamic Range matching prior to the TVOS update, but turning them back on yields same result.

Shame as these are two of the better racing games on ATV, granted they are a few years old.

Any way to stream my gameplay from Apple TV to Twitch?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2019 11:33 AM PST

Game theatre is for watching but is there any way to stream my gameplay from an ipad mobile game to PC or directly to twitch to stream? I know there's a Lightning AV adapter on sale separately but that only supported up to 1080p so I got AppleTV instead.
