Recommendations for cheapest used MacBook 11-12ish inch display, 8gb ram?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2019 10:30 PM PST

I have a 2013 Air with 4gb ram that has started to beachball of doom a LOT, even after recently factory resetting the system. I don't game or image/video edit, but often have 10+ Chrome tabs, Word, and a few other apps open at the same time. If I buy used off eBay, what's the earliest model year I can get away with?

Well, as the tittle said I wanna start programming on iOS but in my country the prices on MacBooks are really expensive, compared to the Apple store, the prices doubled here. I just want a MacBook that lets me develop some basic apps for iOS and watchOS

How to remove scratches/ marks on aluminum body of macbook pro (late 2013)

    Posted: 15 Jan 2019 06:56 AM PST

    Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone knew how to remove scratches and minor scuff marks from the aluminum body of a late 2013 macbook pro. I know I probably can't completely remove it, but I was hoping I could perhaps at least buff them.

    Any input would be appreciated

I need to factory reset/wipe my Mac. I have backed everything up and restarted (cmd+r) however, the volume is set to APFS. I am not sure how to erase a Mac with AFPS as the volume (rather than OS X journaled) - how do I go about safely wiping the Mac back to 'new'?

HELP-I turned off my macbook and it reverted to an old account

    Posted: 15 Jan 2019 05:39 PM PST

So basically I have this brand new macbook air and I set it up a while ago with a password I have forgotten, however I was able to reset the password and use the new password which I have been using for 2+months now. I have always used this new password. I recently set up the encrypted disk thing. So Idk if I was on a separate account or a guest account, it had the same icon and background at the password screen, but now I cant log in after I put in my password. I took a picture of the recovery key and everytime I enter it, it says incorrect. Only difference. All of this happened after I shutdown my computer on my macbook air using the black button at the top to which I dont know what that is. Im on this new password screen after that, different background, same icon and username, password doesnt work, recovery key doesnt work. What could have caused this and what do I do to log back in?

Also: my computer fan is reallly loud as well

    2015 MBP 15" 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, 2.5 GHz or 2018 MBP 15" 256GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, 2.2 GHz?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2019 12:33 PM PST

Basically the title says it. I'm selling my old trustworthy 2015 MBP 13" and looking to upgrade.

For the 2015, it's asking $1100, and the 2018 the guy is asking $1800. I'm planning on doing college work, coding to do some machine learning/AI, and some app development. I do youtube for fun too, but I don't use Adobe After Effects and all that... Just light video editing/vlogging types.

With the 2015 (already 4 -year-old tech), I know it's not future proof by any means, so my plan is to use it for a year, see what Apple will come up with for 2019 (maybe a remodel) and go for that. I feel like if I don't sell this 2015 in a year, I'll never be able to sell it b/c of old tech (despite how many stellar reviews the 2015 model has received).

With the 2018, I'd basically use it for another 3-4 years then sell again and by then I don't think it'd cost me too much to use.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! <3

    Privacy Screen for 2017 MBP

    Posted: 15 Jan 2019 07:52 AM PST

Has anybody got a recommendation for privacy filter for a 2017 Macbook Pro that actually allows you to still close the lid completely? I've got a magnetic screen from Kensington which works great, but I can't actually close the lid. It stays open a tick which is obviously not good during transport.

Purchased a new MacBook while travelling. What’s the best insurance from the UK to support any damages from drops/spills etc?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2019 01:20 AM PST

So I'm currently in Thailand. My friends meeting me here next week and taking out a MacBook I purchased online to send to his house.

Anyway this is a really good MacBook and I need it for work and I've never spent this much money on something so I really wanna make sure I've got things covered if it was to drop/spill/randomly break I don't know..

Does anyone have a trusted insurance company they would suggest for my needs?

    Broke MBP retina screen

I have a early 2013 retina and the screen broke on it. No AppleCare. Should I fix the screen or shell out the money for a new one?
