El Capitan seems to not want to update onto my 2011 iMac Posted: 10 Jan 2019 04:58 PM PST Whenever I try to download El Capitan from the Apple Store, it says that my Mid 2011 iMac isn't compatible. From what I read though, it should be seeing that iMacs mid 2007 and later are compatible. Anybody know what's up? [link] [comments] |
Instagram Notifications Not Working? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 07:32 PM PST Instagram isn't showing up in my notifications bar in settings, I turned all notifications on in app, but it still doesn't work. any advice? [link] [comments] |
Your computer is disabled. Try again in 60 minutes. Posted: 10 Jan 2019 06:34 PM PST I have an iMac (a client machine) and am getting this message. I don't know any of the login info, but have the receipt of purchase (though can't get to the serial number). Has anyone dealt with this before? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Mac doesn't recognize partition on external hard drive Posted: 10 Jan 2019 06:13 PM PST So I have an external hard drive partitioned into two halves: one for Time Machine backups and the other for extra storage (movies, pictures, etc). Recently though, my Mac (Mid-2010, High Sierra) hasn't been recognizing the backup partition. The other half works fine, I've been able to read/write stuff to it like normal. But it doesn't even recognize the other partition. Running First Aid in Disk Utility for either partition came up with an error message. I was thinking of just reformatting it, but can I reformat just the one half or does that reformat the whole disk? I don't mind losing old backups, but I don't want to lose all the other stuff I have on the other partition. Thanks for the help! [link] [comments] |
Dongle/Lighting port/aux cord issue? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 06:09 PM PST This a lot, so I apologize in advance. But if anyone could please read this and help I would appreciate it :) I have an iPhone 8 Plus, so to listen to music through an aux cord in the car I have to use a dongle (usb) adapter. This came with my phone when I got it in July. When I plug in my phone to listen to music it'll play for a minute or so, then I get the "accessory not supported" notification. If I unplug it and plug it back in, it then won't work at all. So I assumed it was a problem with the dongle, so I bought another. I still got the notification after a minute even after the new dongle, but I can unplug it and plug it back in and it will play again. I can't necessarily do this while driving though. So then I thought it was the aux cord cassette tape, so I got another one of those, and it STILL doesn't work. So it must be my phone, right? But my earbuds and phone both work through the lightning port. And it also doesn't work for a friends phone, which is a iPhone 7 Plus. Using the aux cord without the dongle, it works for my sister and boyfriend's iPhone 6s. So what could the problem be? I simply cannot figure this out. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thank you!!! [link] [comments] |
Access un-encrypted Corrupt iPhone Back - How To? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 09:53 PM PST my iPhone Backup is missing the manifest files. I believe it ran out of space mid-backup, creating an incomplete backup. However, it's unencrypted. I'd like to see if there is a way to access the files, iTunes cannot read the backup without the manifest files that were never made. I attempted (this python script)[http://www.securitylearn.net/2013/04/01/recovering-data-from-the-iphone-corrupted-backups/] but I can't seem to get pass a "line continuation character" error whenever I do the command. Is there any options for me? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 09:46 PM PST I got a new iPhone Xs last week, and l didn't use the earbuds that came with them until two days ago. I discovered that the right earbud doesn't work. The mic on the cord to the right earbud works, but not the speaker/actual earbud. The left one works as expected. Anything I can do myself to fix this? If not will Apple replace them easily or will it be a hassle? Edit: I mean Earbuds in the title, but I cant change it [link] [comments] |
what is this in the middle of lock screen? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 03:42 PM PST My relative sent me a screenshot of his iPhone Xs Max with a slightly transparent white square in the middle of the screen, on top of the notifications. https://imgur.com/a/2WKFyTA (sorry I had to crop the screenshot to remove identifying info) My thought is that it's something to do with accessibility but after spending a couple of hours searching google and playing with all the settings in my phone, I can't replicate it. I tried everything in accessibility, screen time, guided access, etc. Any ideas? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 04:59 PM PST https://imgur.com/gallery/e9hy6WF I've been having intermittent issues with my Macbook Pro display. (See photos above) It's really weird because it's super intermittent. Some weeks it will make my laptop completely unusable. Other times it doesn't happen for weeks. I was hoping to see if anyone knows a fix, hopefully for cheap. I'm not on warranty anymore and I'm a broke college student so hopefully knows a fix for this. [link] [comments] |

Late 2012 Retina MacBook Pro not seeing internal drive Posted: 10 Jan 2019 06:05 AM PST SO... I booted up my 2012 Retina MBP, and I'm getting the flashing folder with a question mark. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7: audio not playing through headphones Posted: 10 Jan 2019 12:52 PM PST hey team! i dropped my iphone 7 about a week ago while headphones (through a 3.5 mm adapter) were plugged into the lightning port. those headphones didn't work with my phone after the fall, but my phone still charged without any problems, so i figured it wasn't a big deal. so i started using bluetooth headphones instead. the bluetooth headphones were working great until a few days ago, after i charged them. now, they pair and connect without a problem, but no audio comes through at all (not through the headphones nor the phone's speakers). i've restarted, reset, and re-paired both my phone and the headphones several times, and playing around with the volume on both devices didn't do anything. i also used the headphones with my laptop, and they work fine, so i'm not sure what's going on. additional info in case it's relevant: updated my phone's os when resetting didn't work, just moved into moderately crowded on-campus housing where pretty much everyone also has a bluetooth device if this is a hardware issue, i can get it fixed, but i don't want to waste my time and money if it's just something in settings that i'm missing. thank you so much for reading! sorry if this is a dumb question, i don't know anything [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 12:40 PM PST Hey guys. My iPhone 7+ wont charge. It will read that it is connected when it is dead, but it doesn't seem to be getting any juice. I need to get my photos off of it onto my Android or my PC. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 06:20 PM PST I can't believed I did this. I apology in advance since English is not my native language. So I was eating soup while watching Netflix on my mid 2012 MBP (OS Mojave if it helps anything), and me being super clumsy, I accidentally spilled like a spoon full of soup on my keyboard and trackpad. I panicked and immediately turned it off from the power button and unplugged the charger, next I flipped it over and dried the surface with a paper towel, but I wasn't satisfied, so I unscrewed the lower case (I've done it before to upgrade memory ram), unscrewed the battery and took it off. There in the place where the battery was, was the rest of the liquid so I dried it with more paper towel and even used a hairdryer (no heat). I was ballistic so when I paper dried everything I wanted to see if it was still working, so i put the battery back, the lid. Tried to turn the MB on but it didn't. Plugged the charger, green light was on and when I did that the MB boot itself (didn't press the power button again) the boot chime was heard but no apple logo no nothing on the screen, and in the low area the sleep white light was intermittent, like if the Mac turned on and then went to sleep. Also When i unplugged the charger to see if it worked with the battery it was the same, the white light was working and the fans were in sleep mode. i plugged the charger again, boots again itself without pressing any button, chime and then go to sleep. Now I turned it off again and it's flipped it over, will wait 48 hrs. Is my MBP damaged or it's something I'm not doing or did wrong when I put the battery back? The MBP was perfect until now. Thanks in advance here's the picture [link] [comments] |
Apple Watch responding to Hey Siri in Car, instead of iPhone on CarPlay Posted: 10 Jan 2019 06:05 PM PST 4th Gen Apple watch (Cellular) (WatchOS 5.1.2) XS Max iPhone (iOS 12.1.2) On several occasions when I am in the car and say "Hey Siri, Call my wife" or "Hey Siri, Play some 80's radio" or any other command, my Apple Watch will take the command rather than my iPhone. Then the call goes through on my Apple Watch or the music starts playing on it. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, do you know how to make the Apple Watch ignore commands when it is next to an iPhone connected to CarPlay? One thing to mention. This never happened with my Original Apple Watch (non cellular) I thought that might be the issue, but I'm not sure. [link] [comments] |
I swapped out and wiped my Macs SSD with out making a OS installer and I am unsure how to fix it Posted: 10 Jan 2019 06:45 AM PST Hi, I need to make a mac OS X installer to reinstall mac os however I don't have access to any other apple desktop devices to make an install USB. I am on windows and linux (dual boot) on my main PC so it would be best to find some way of doing it on there. I know there is a hackintosh community but I am unsure where they get their DMG files. So I have a macbook pro 2011 Intel I7, 8GB ram which had Mac OSX high sierra when I bought it used. Thanks for the help edit: I should have said, Internet recovery doesn't work for me. There is apparently something wrong with my Itunes account credentials. I am not sure why but I phoned apple support and they couldn't fix it either. [link] [comments] |
I need some help running dual external monitors on a MacBook Air (late 2017) Posted: 10 Jan 2019 03:15 PM PST MBA is running high Sierra, monitors are both Dell U2715H. I currently have it setup like this mini display port (on MBA) to display port on monitor #1, display port (out) to mini display port on monitor #2. The best I can get it with this current configuration is to mirror, my goal is to run in extended mode. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Mac/iTunes not recognising my iPhone, can’t sync Posted: 10 Jan 2019 11:06 AM PST As the title suggests, I'm trying to sync my iPhone to my Mac in order to transfer music in my iTunes library to my phone. However, it won't recognise my phone. The little iPhone icon doesn't appear in iTunes and the sync button is greyed out as can be seen here. I've tried several cables and I've made sure my computer is authorised. Not sure what else to do. Please help!! [link] [comments] |
Replacing Mid 2012 MacBook Pro Glass screen Posted: 10 Jan 2019 02:25 PM PST I am replacing my Mid 2012 MacBook Pro Glass cover screen. I have read that I may need additional adhesive as people have complained about the replacements not having enough. What kind of adhesive is safe for the inside of the screen? Also, if there are any good guides on how to do this, that would also be appreciated. I have searched ifixit.com but the guides are sub par for this particular repair. [link] [comments] |
Question - Battery Drops Extremely Fast Posted: 10 Jan 2019 02:17 PM PST |
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 02:05 PM PST I have bought a MacBook from a friend, but like an idiot I forgot to remove Find my Iphone from it. After this I told him to go to his Find my iPhone app and press to remove it so that it would remove it from his iCloud. Instead he pressed Erase. Rather than try and explain what to do next over text, I decided to wait until we were together again and so I thought the easiest way would be to press to remove the device from his iCloud from the app. After I did this, the password protected screen still shows up, but it wont even let me enter anything. Is there something I can do to get rid of it? I can get his iCloud password/email if needed, but don't want to do this unless I know of a way to get rid of this screen using it. https://imgur.com/EZfuObB - here is the image of the erase screen. Is it possible to stop the system from bringing the screen to the front when a program loads? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 01:41 PM PST I have a simple work flow and it consists of my main apps on three different screens. When I need the app, I three finger swipe to it. The thing is, if I want to open the mail app in my third screen while I am working on my first, the screen whips back to the third when the app opens. Can I stop this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 01:06 PM PST I noticed my iphone battery was dying a lot quicker, so i checked its battery health. under peak performance capability, it said this: This iPhone has experienced an unexpected shutdown because the battery was unable to deliver the necessary peak power. Performance management has been applied to help prevent this from happening again. Disable… I dont know what this means. What is performance management and is there anything I can do to fix this?
