Posted: 07 Jan 2019 05:51 PM PST I got my AirPods on Black Friday of 2018, so I've had them for a little over a month. However, with it being in my pocket for hours, the case itself has gotten extremely dirty on the inside, which is funny because the AirPods themselves are quite clean. I don't know how I could go about cleaning the case without damaging it. [link] [comments] |
Personal account into family account Posted: 07 Jan 2019 08:05 PM PST Hello, Just a question about iCloud accounts. Currently my wife and I have personal Apple Music and iCloud accounts. If I turn my account into a family account and then add her what happens?
Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
How hot does your MacBook Pro get? Posted: 07 Jan 2019 07:54 PM PST I feel like mine gets abnormally hot even after a thermal paste clean/change. I put the fan speed pretty high and there's not much dust. I've also taken it apart and cleaned it. My model is the 2015 15" Retina [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jan 2019 08:57 PM PST Got a 2012 Macbook Air 2012. Seems the spacebar key is costantly pressed. I often get a constant stream of spaces while typing as if someone is holding the spacebar down. Sometimes pressing the spacebar doesnt register. I have tried cleaning the keyboard but to no avail. Macbook Pro Mid 2014 / Internet connection fails and all of my applications freezes suddenly. Posted: 07 Jan 2019 11:55 AM PST So this started happening a few weeks before now.The problem is that; no matter what i am doing, it might be watching Netflix on Google Chrome, or coding on Atom(text editor) suddenly i lose my internet connection and in a few seconds later all of my opened applications freezes and they don't respond. This applications include the Finder (Also the icons on right top corner like wifi, bluetooth etc won't respond). However my apple logo will still respond and i am able to restart my computer and everything will be fine again. --> Losing the internet connection:I am connecting the internet with Wifi, and i am pretty sure my internet connection is still working when that happens.(Checked from another device every time this happens.) --> This freezing thing started happening in every 1 or 2 days, and it is very annoying.I can not save any of my work in applications, I just have to force quit every application and restart. -->Recent OS --- macOS Mojave v10.14.2 Any ideas how to solve this? Posted: 07 Jan 2019 08:28 PM PST When I tell Siri to turn on the lamp, it says I haven't added anything but when I open the Wemo app, it says it's "connected" to the Home app. [link] [comments] |
Trouble with Airplay on Apple TV when streaming Posted: 07 Jan 2019 04:32 PM PST Hi all, I have a new Apple TV 32gb (not 4K) and when I try and stream movies/video from my iPhone (8) or iPad (6th gen), the screen mirror works fine but when I go full screen and it converts to air play it's buffers then crashes out of screen mirror. I have gotten it to work once or twice but it's very inconsistent. Seems to work when it's mirroring a full screen without going into air play mode. Is there something I can do, or is there a way to stream without airplay? [link] [comments] |
I can’t do work in English on my iPad, as it spellchecks in my native language Posted: 07 Jan 2019 03:37 PM PST EDIT: SOLVED. Can't change flair on mobile... for anyone wondering, I had to do general > keyboard > hardware keyboards and then change the hardware on the English keyboard from automatic to Norwegian. I can now use a Norwegian keyboard while writing any language and I could not be happier. I recently got an iPad, 6th gen, and I've been trying to use it for work, but as it is now, it's absolutely useless. I'm Norwegian and I own a Norwegian keyboard, however my work is in English. When I try to work on a document in English, it spellchecks as if it is in Norwegian, despite me having the iPad itself set to English, the language of the document set to English and the region of the document set to The UK. I have tried both Pages and MS Word. The only solution I found online was to set the keyboard itself to English in the settings menu. However when I do this, it switches around all of the buttons, so the buttons no longer give me the letter pictured. I click 8, I get a 7. I click ' and I get a *. I tried getting a @ and I got the trademark symbol. So obviosly I can't choose that solution. Is there any way to make it spellcheck in English without playing hide and seek with the keyboard, or is the iPad really useless if you're bilingual? This is really frustrating cause the iPad was supposed to be my main device to work from, so that I could work while traveling. I have over 7 weeks of travel scheduled within the next few months and if I'm not able to work from the ipad I don't know how I'd be able to go. I'd prefer not to turn off spellcheck as this is my second language and it helps a lot. I don't think I'll be able to perform well enough without it. (Unless I can buy a spellcheck program that will work the way I need, to replace the one on the ipad.) [link] [comments] |
Get 2014 MacMini to output multi-channel audio via HDMI Posted: 07 Jan 2019 06:40 AM PST I'm using a 2014 MM, connected to a 2018 Samsung NU8000 TV via High Speed HDMI Cable. The MM can push 4K video through that cable absolutely perfect. In the Preferences/SOUND, Output is set directly to "SAMSUNG" In Audio MIDI Setup, there are only 2-channel outputs, in 32/44/48khz and 16/20/24-bit integer. No option for 6 or 8 channel audio I ran some multichannel test tracks on VLC and XMBC/KODI, and its all gets mixed to stereo. Prefer to stick to HDMI, rather than Optical or any other output, because I want all my sources to go to TV via HDMI, and then HDMI-ARC to Sonos system for playback [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to my MacBook to only forward FaceTime calls, but not forward regular calls? Posted: 07 Jan 2019 01:03 PM PST I really like taking FaceTime calls on my MacBook and I don't want to turn this feature off. But a lot of times when my phone starts ringing it disrupts what I'm doing on my Mac (especially if I'm watching a video. Is there a way to keep the setting to forward FaceTime calls, but no longer forward my voice calls to my MacBook? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Mid 2010 MacBook Pro crashes with 16 GB Ram upgrade Posted: 07 Jan 2019 03:11 PM PST Hey folks, I was hoping people here could help me get to the bottom of this. Specs:
I attempted to upgrade the RAM on my old laptop to 16 GB from OWC. When I started the first time my laptop crashed trying to startup Chrome. When attempting to run a diagnostic test at startup I got the code: -3403D, but have been unable to find out what the code means. My laptop has been running a little hot as well, I've been planning on replacing the thermal paste. Not sure if that could be part of it. If there's any other info I should add let me know! Thanks in advance. Hopefully someone here has experienced this issue. [link] [comments] |

How do I turn off limit as tracking? Posted: 07 Jan 2019 02:20 PM PST I'm on iOS 12 and when I go to turn it off it's greyed out and the only way to turn it off is to sign out? Any better wya to do it? [link] [comments] |
Apple repair status says "empty box shipped" Posted: 07 Jan 2019 05:16 PM PST I sent my iPhone SE in for a battery replacement on Wednesday. The package had over night shipping with Fedex. So according to the tracking number Apple received the phone on Thursday morning. But the repair status is still says "empty box shipped". Is this normal? Also how long do these send in repairs usually take? I know I sound impatient but at the moment I'm stuck with my iPhone 4s, and it's annoying to develop apps without a device to test them on. Question about syncing iPhone and iTunes automatically re-copying the entire (music) library Posted: 07 Jan 2019 05:10 PM PST This drove me up the wall several years ago, so I started using iMazing. The other day I uploaded a bunch of new music and decided to give iTunes another chance. The initial sync took time (100GB); I expected the next sync would be fine but, nope, iTunes re-copied everything again -- the infamous Step 6. I thought I'd ask here if this is normal behavior. In Options, I've selected none of the checkbox items. In the iTunes/iPhone/Music window I check the box of the new Artist or Album I like and hit Apply. If I go back to iTunes I want it to ONLY upload the new album I select, not re-copy everything back into the phone. Is this possible? [link] [comments] |
iPhone won't turn on, but says it is charging? Posted: 07 Jan 2019 04:45 PM PST So my iPhone 7 randomly started freezing then a few seconds later it shut off, and now remains a black screen. I tried charging/resetting it via the volume and lock button. The thing is, Find my iPhone says that my phone is still connected to wifi and is charging (which it is). Does this indicate something went bad with the display? I play the "find my iPhone noise" and no sound comes from the phone, but I get a confirmation email that the sound was played. Any ideas? iTunes keeps merging duplicate files Posted: 07 Jan 2019 04:38 PM PST Hi folks, I asked a similar question on another forum recently, but none of the solutions worked sadly. For reference, I'm using a 2015 Macbook Pro and the latest versions of iTunes and the Mojave OS. I've got an iTunes library running from an external hard drive, but for about a week now, iTunes has decided to merge any duplicate files I might add to the library. I need to copy some files for work reasons, and what used to happen is that every time I copied a song that was already in my iTunes library, the source folder would then read "song.mp3" and "song 1.mp3"., while two different versions of the song would show up on the app. Now, for some reason, the source folder just keeps "song.mp3" but adds a second copy in my iTunes app that still points to the original file. So instead of being able to edit the second song like any other, any edits get made to both songs since they share the same file. Even deleting the second file send the source file for both tracks to the trash if I delete it instead of keeping it. I'm not sure why this is happening though, and I'm really at my wit's end, especially since this is a vital component of my work. My iTunes setting have the "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" box checked, so as far as I understand, the files should be copying, right? Is it some other problem that I'm unaware of? Why would this have suddenly changed? [link] [comments] |

Cleaning "other" storage on my Mac Posted: 07 Jan 2019 04:03 PM PST Hello, I have a 120 GB 2014 MacBook pro running on OS X El Capitan. I am continuously running out of storage. I have an external hard drive to which I have transferred almost all of my audio. The problem is that the "other" category is taking up 95 gigs on my hard drive, and I have no idea what this is or how to reduce it. Any advice? Thanks [link] [comments] |

Everytime I move a file in finder. The sound is muted Posted: 07 Jan 2019 05:28 AM PST Hello There So recently my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) started to mute the sound whenever I did something. Today I found out what caused that. It's whenever I move something in the finder the sound goes mute. Do you have an Idea what could cause this problem? To get the sound back I can just put the volume back up. It's still really annoying though. [link] [comments] |
My Comcast account on my MacBook Pro is deleting emails Posted: 07 Jan 2019 09:59 AM PST I have a 13" inch MacBook Pro and am having some trouble with my email. Currently it holds emails for two weeks before deleting them out of my Inbox, and once they are gone they don't appear in my trash or archive folder. I also have a iMac desktop that my email account is on but it doesn't have the issue my MacBook Pro does. I've done a lot of research on this topic but most of my searches come up with articles explaining HOW to delete emails instead of how to stop it. I've checked preferences and various settings but to the best of my knowledge everything is set up correctly. I am a college student and use my email account to organize my scholarship. I need to be able to delete emails on my own while having the rest stay for my records or I could run the risk of loosing an important email and thus my scholarship. I appreciate any comments! MacBook or iPad Pro for work/adobe photoshop, indesign, and illustrator? Posted: 07 Jan 2019 09:54 AM PST |
Upgrading from iMac (late 2009) to MacBook Pro, but knowledgeable advice needed! Posted: 07 Jan 2019 03:34 PM PST I'm moving overseas for work soon and want to be able to continue using Logic Pro X with a range of recording tools (Zoom, midi keyboard, m-audio fastrack pro) As such I've decided to buy a refurbished MacBook Pro, however I don't have the computer knowledge to understand things like GHz, 6-core/quad core/dual core, or even the differences between i7, i9, etc. I'm just really hoping there's someone here who can give me an idea of what would do the job? I don't need top of the line, just something capable that will remain that way for a few years. Other than audio recording the only thing it'll be used for is watching movies and creating the odd slideshow of photos/videos. I understand I'll need an adapter for my USB devices/instruments so tips on this would be appreciated as well! My budget is approx $3500-4000 AUD [link] [comments] |
