However the refresh rate is unacceptably poor. About twice a day, I get spammed with a bunch of emails that are labeled from hours earlier. Is there some way I can make it check more often so I can my alerts in a timely manner? Or do I have to go back to the gmail app? [link] [comments]  |

The battery is around 30 cycles and over 90% health but due to age it has expanded a bit. Enough that the trackpad is hard to press down. I want to replace it before it expands enough to hurt the top case. My previous experience with Apple has been, without mincing words, fucking shit.
I could go on. Having said this, if I invest 4x the price of a generic battery for a genuine replacement, how much can I trust Apple? Am I going to go up against the same "within spec" shit if they put in another battery that's already 5% degraded or slightly swollen out of the box? And what are my odds of receiving such a battery? Clearly it won't be a newly made one. But have they not made them since 2012, or did they keep making them until 2015 or something? Thank you. [link] [comments]  |
| Broken Charger inside of my iPad Pro Posted: 13 Jan 2019 06:29 PM PST So, I was sitting in my chair w/ my iPad Pro (10.5) in my lap plugged in when I jumped up & rushed to keep my older puppet from jumping on the couch. (Hip problems so we lift her up to keep her from hurting herself) My iPad fell out of my lap & hit the floor, worst luck ever...rather than the charger just coming out, it managed to snap off inside. I didn't even notice it until hours later when I went to plug it back in. :( Is there anyway for me to get this out w/out messing it up worse? No Apple Care unfortunately. | Posted: 13 Jan 2019 06:29 PM PST I took my iPhone 6 in to get its battery replaced at an Apple Certified help center. My battery was at 75% capacity after around three years of use, no other damage on the phone. The employee took out the battery and replaced it with a brand new iPhone battery, didn't work (completely black screen, doesn't turn on). We assumed there must be something wrong with the battery, and tried another one. Same result. The chance of an official Apple battery not working is rare, but possible. Two batteries completely failing to work? That's something else. The employee finally decided to just put the original battery back in, and it worked fine (still at 75% capacity though). He said he had only seen this happen around four other times, and he had no idea why it occurred. He recommended I send it in to Apple to be repaired, but the flat fee to repair it would be around $200+. I love my iPhone 6, and it has served me well, but I'm not going to spend that much on a three year old phone. TLDR: iPhone doesn't turn on at all when two different Apple certified batteries are put in, works fine with original. Does anyone have any idea why this happened, and what to do? Posted: 13 Jan 2019 05:38 PM PST I saw this was an issue a couple year's back, but it seems to have returned in the latest iOS update. I use my AirPods on my iPhone and iPad all the time and have recently noticed what I assume is a neighbor's Apple TV in my Bluetooth/AirPlay device list. I confirmed there are no foreign devices or users on my network—seems it has to do with the discoverable nature of the Bluetooth profile for Apple TV. Has anyone else recently experienced this? | Duet display and streaming services? Posted: 13 Jan 2019 08:32 PM PST I'm trying to make good use out of my old iPad 2 by using it as a second monitor with duet display. My setup is a MacBook air connected via hdma to an ultrawide monitor. The problem is whenever I try to watch Netflix or Hulu, it won't play. On Hulu is error 5003 and says this "sorry, we encountered an error playing this video over hdmi. Pleasure ensure your display is compliant with hdcp 1.4 and is not mirrored with airplay." I haven't updated in years because I use my macbook for audio, and my version of Pro Tools isn't compatible beyond Yosemite. I'm finally deciding it's time to update again, and I'm wondering how many iterations of OS X I can jump before I encounter a noticeable hit to performance. (If this seems like a dumb question to you, it's because I'm a little gun-shy about updating operating systems after I upgraded a previous mac too far and it became almost unusable) Any help is very much appreciate! I've had a few issues with the "other" in storage filling my phone beyond working capacity and the only thing that worked so far was resetting the device. But, I have to do this every now and then and since the last time or the time before (don't quite remember) this issue surfaced. I'd say it's about two or three weeks since I last have memories of getting notifications. In the meantime I reset the device at least once and also installed an iOS update. I have the Outlook app on my phone for multiple e-mail accounts, one for college, one for personal and one Gmail account. Notification settings are all on, both in the Outlook app as well as my iOS settings. Background app refresh and mobile data are also on. Yet, I don't receive any emails unless I open the app, and don't get any notifications either. I thought it'd just been awfully quiet but when I opened my laptop once I received a ton of missed notifications, for example an invitation to a job interview tomorrow night, which is obviously really inconvenient. The sole reason I need notifications is because otherwise I don't use or remember to open emails at all. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this? Is the problem with me or perhaps just the app? | 2011 MBP battery draining fast Posted: 13 Jan 2019 01:45 PM PST 2011 13. I bought a new battery last year from OWC. It has started draining very fast even though the battery health is at 96%. I am running on an ssd and have done all of the resets and stuff. I make sure that I have nothing running in the background. I probably get 50 minutes on a full charge. I really dont want to drop $100 on another new battery just to see if my other battery has an issue. Anyone have ideas on what could be the issue? [link] [comments]  |

| Click/pop noise while using AirPods Posted: 13 Jan 2019 11:10 AM PST Hi I just received a pair of AirPods for my birthday. I love them but I noticed an issue in my right AirPod. When using my iPhone XS, if I use the app switcher gesture, I hear a slight pop noise each time in my right AirPod. Also, if I start a new video on the YouTube app, I hear a slight pop for a brief moment before the video starts. I'm still under the 14 day refund policy so I'm wondering if this is a possible hardware defect on the right AirPods or if it's just how it is so I should just return if it annoys me? Any thoughts ? | Any suggestions for an iMac that has about a minute delay before the startup chime? Posted: 13 Jan 2019 11:09 AM PST This is a 27" late 2013 iMac. When power button is pressed I can hear the fan start up, but there is no startup chime for upwards of 1 minute, then the chime and logo, and it boots fine and works fine once booted. The only issue is the really slow post time. I already tried downloading every SMC/Firmware update available for it from Apple's download page for this model, and all of them said they were not applicable for the system (despite their version numbers looking newer than what is on the system right now). I did SMC/PRAM resets already and there was no change from that. I read on a support forum somewhere else that someone fixed a similar problem with a firmware restoration CD, but there does not appear to be anything like that available for this year model. | Can't get second monitor to work on a Macbook Pro? Posted: 13 Jan 2019 09:04 AM PST Wife has a new Macbook Pro (it's at least a last years model). She wants to run dual monitors on it, but so far she's only been able to get one to work properly. She has something like this (not that exact one), and using it we can actually get both monitors to work, but only if she uses the "powered" USB-C port to do it (one in the hdmi port and the other via hdmi to USB-C adapter). But then this means she can't charge her laptop at the same time. I'm not sure if it's just the adapters aren't good enough, or if we're missing something else altogether.
