    For Christmas this year, my very generous mother decided to buy me an iPhone 6 in Space Gray! It took a while to download all the software updates, but its a great phone, and I'm glad to be making my first reddit post from it!

    Long time Android user to iPhone

    I've had an android phone for the past 8 years, recently went through the google pixel 1 XL and 2 XL thinking the performance would be top notch and both would hold up well for a few tears (at least 2 years). To my surprise this wasn't the case despite the steep price. Had countless issues with lag, screen flashing randomly when the phone wasn't used, charging port not working well, fingerprint issues etc etc etc so I finally decided to jump ship and got the iPhone XS Max as the pixel 3 design is so outdated and doesn't bring anything new to the table other than the back being very prone to marks which you can get out using a toothbrush :D (See the video Erica Griffin made ) and I've had enough of being googles beta tester.

    I've had the phone for over a month now and am still impressed at how well it works. There's no lag, apps open a lot quicker and all the apps I have run very smooth. Including google apps! Yes, google apps on my pixel phones (especially the inbox app) would lag when jumping between emails/opening the menu. On the iPhone however it's smooth as butter. It really just works. The battery life has also been amazing. I wasn't really complaining about the battery life on my pixel 2 XL and was even concerned the iPhone wouldn't be able to match that however that's not the case. The battery life is a lot better on the iPhone. I don't think I've gone through a whole day (with my normal usage - mostly spotify (5-6h), some phone calls, texts, web browsing) and had less than 65% battery left.

    The phone feels very premium when holding it, I thought that I'd forget all about it after a week or two but that's not the case. I know some people complain about how big the iPhone Max is but for me it's still a one handed phone for the most part. It's the same size as my old phone with smaller bezels and slightly bigger screen.

    The notch... well this is my first phone with a notch and I can't say I had an issue with it even from day 1. I know it's there but it's not something I had to get used to at all. It's not an in your face notch like the pixel 3 XL... it's there but very subtle.

    My other concern was siri especially with everyone saying how bad siri is compared to the assistant. I use it every day to set alarms, timers & control the lights. That's really all I used the google assistant for and between the two I prefer siri mainly as it's a lot quicker to turn the lights on/off. With the assistant there was usually a slight delay whereas with siri, it's almost instant. Setting timers & alarms works just as well too.

    Overall, very pleased with the phone. Everything about it feels so much better and more premium than on the pixel. Glad I made the jump although it wasn't easy because of the price. Am now waiting for the apple watch to arrive tomorrow too :)

    I can get the iPhone X or XR for the same price. Which should I go for?

    I know the XR has a beefier processor inside it but I also know the X has the dual-lens camera and the better screen, as well as a stainless steel build rather than aluminium.

    Are there any other major differences here? Does the boost in processing power put the XR over the edge or is the X the better phone overall?

    Both will be coming in a 30GB data plan for less than £45 a month on a 24-month contract.

    Which has more screen-on time? X or XS Max?

    Apparently I'm a super super user, I got my X battery replaced not too long ago and I'm still unhappy with the battery life. I've wiped the phone and kept it pretty bare bones and I'm still charging by dinner.

    I'm considering upgrading to the XS max solely for the ability to keep a battery bank away. Is this something that would work? Does the increase in screen size negate the bigger battery and more efficient processor?

    ...and as a iPhone 6s user on 10.3.3. I was super sceptical. But i finally upgraded to 12.1.2 last night, and boy, my phone just flies! This thing is awesome. I can't believe i didnt upgrade sooner. Everything feels so smooth AND FAST. Also wanted to upgrade for the future support of applications, so when i found out everything is just better, i was super excited. Now i just unlock my phone 2 times more just to see how fast the phone really is. Thank u apple.

    Should I upgrade to the iPhone 8

    I live in Canada and found an iPhone 8 64gb going for $400 on kijiji. This seems like a good deal especially since I have a iPhone 6s that is slowly failing me. Can anyone else provide some input to whether this is a good deal? Thanks!

    I have Apple Music and it won't let me play any mp3s on my phone. They are listed there and I make my own playlist for them but they won't play and are greeyed out. I have synced 100 times and they will never play on my actual iPhone only in I tunes. Googled countless numb r of times no solution everyone just says "sync", what do I do if they won't play?

    iCloud voice memos not showing up

    So I've recently reset my phone and I wanted to access my voice memos. I opened the app, but weren't there. When I go to iCloud settings and tap manage storage, I can see that there are voice memos backed up. How can I make them appear on my iPhone?

    Cellular data for apps keeps turning off

    Hey all, never posted here before, but I've ran into a pretty major issue with my iPhone 8. Every time I try to turn on cellular data for specific apps, they end up switching back off. Take for example: I need to use maps while out of my house, so I navigate to cellular in my settings and switch on maps; after exiting settings I attempt to open maps but am told the cellular data is not on. After revisiting settings, it seems that the cellular data for maps has turned itself off. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
