MacBook Pro won't connect to any Bluetooth devices.. Or even be detected by them!

Hi all, I hope there's an easy solution to this, but as the title states.. Yeah. Even worse, when I -did- get it to work, it'd just disconnect after a few seconds.

    What I've done:

    1. Reset the PRAM
    2. Reset the Bluetooth module
    3. Deleted the necessary Bluetooth files (the ones that are recreated when you restart)
    4. Restarted multiple times

I'm about to pull my hair out! Help?

    White screen disaster

    Posted: 24 Dec 2018 09:49 PM PST

Hi I have a 2011 macbook air, that recently started the flashing question Mark folder on start up. I urgently need some files on the computer to submit by the end of the year.

I have tried Internet recovery, but a disk image comes up rather than the disk.

Does anyone have a suggestion or failing that can you advise me whether I should take it to the Apple shop or an Independant computer repair.

    Thanks, Tom

Can I charge my Macbook with mophie powerstation XL?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2018 07:48 AM PST

I have this mophie power bank: http://www.mophie.com/shop/powerstation-xl-old

They claim it's not possible to charge a macbook with it. But I was thinking that if I got a usb-a to usb-c cable, I might be able to do it, however I'm not sure.

    Could anyone help me?

How to turn off the macbook pro internal display completly off when while using an external display

    Posted: 24 Dec 2018 04:54 AM PST

As the title says i want to have a way to turn off the mbp on-board screen when i have an external display connected to it. I have made a lot of searching as you will see below and there is no solid solution. My aim is to be able to use the mbp with its own keyboard and touchbar/touchpad but not the internal screen.

The following i found though searching are either too old or are not considered solid solutions for such a simple thing

    1. I don't want to set the brightness to 0 that is not a solution for me.
    2. I also don't want to use any command line commands such as here https://mac-how-to.gadgethacks.com/how-to/turn-off-macbook-pro-screen-with-lid-open-and-using-external-monitor-0158393/
    3. i also don't want to use any kind of hardware hacks such as using magnets around the screen here https://www.cultofmac.com/176329/turn-off-internal-lcd-display-of-your-macbook-air-os-x-tips/
    4. the hot corners setting locks up all the displays

    External Storage Question

    Posted: 24 Dec 2018 04:35 AM PST

Recently returned to the macbook world after not owning one sice 2013. Bought a Macbook pro with the 125gb drive, as the price was too damn good to pass up. The kid at Best Buy was saying it's easy enough to expand storage with an external hard drive, SSD, or even a good flash drive. There's a lot of different options out there, and honestly it's kind of overwhelming. For me it would be used mostly for pictures, GoPro video, and some other miscelleneous files. I understand with a good SSD you can actually store and run programs from it pretty seemlessly, but I think the 128 built in will be plenty for any programs we would need. I guess my question is, would a HDD or Flash Drive do the trick? They are much cheaper, and obviously the file transfer is slower, but again it would just be pictures, and GoPro videos to edit and store.

iMessage times not syncing on Macbook Pro?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2018 12:52 AM PST

I got a new MacBook Pro last month (macOS High Sierra) and the iMessages on my MacBook have almost never synced up in terms of timing. For example my messages are delivered correctly and do show up on my iPhone 8 correctly, but the times on iMessages on my laptop are shown to be an hour LATER than they were sent and the messages are sometimes synced out of order... didn't have this problem on my old laptop (which I had for 2 years) so I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

It's not the biggest deal in the world but I really like using iMessage on my laptop and it can get annoying when the messages aren't synced properly
