    Recover files from emptied trash

I'm aware this happened to many before me (the number of questions asked and solutions offered all over the internet is but one indicator).

I would like to ask what worked for you from the many options I see around. (This will obviously save me the time and hassle of trying too many things if there is no hope.)
    Thanks!

Advice on a 13 vs 15 inch MBP

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 11:24 PM PST

    Hello people,

So for a couple months I've been thinking about getting a Macbook for university (computer science) and since the newer models are faulty (not considering the new 2018s because they are out of my budget range).

I've been searching for a used 2015 13 MBP but couldn't find decent ones in my local area.

Now someone is selling a 2015 15 MBP in stock configuration (i7 2.2, 16GB ram, 256SSD) for less than $1000 which is very little for the local market here in Eastern Europe (you can barely find a 2013 15 MBP in that range or a 2015 13 MBP). The machine has 400 battery cycles and I suppose no warranty left.

At first I was considering getting a 13 inch model due to its light weight (at home I have an external monitor I can plug the laptop in, I just need a reliable mobile solution to carry around with me) but I guess 1 extra pound in my backpack is not that big a deal.

The good thing is that I can test this laptop because the guy selling it is in the same city with me.

I don't know how much longer the 15' would last compared to the 13' one, but I guess at least a couple more years due to the double amount of RAM.

Should I go for it? If yes, what should I look out for?

    Thank you.

    Logitech Mouse Issues

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 10:50 AM PST

    Hello,

I've attempted to use my Logitech Performance MX wireless mouse with my 2016 MacBook Pro and it's just awful, stuttering and lagging; effectively useless. I've tried it with and without the software from Logitech.

Is there any way to fix this, and if not, can anyone recommend a mouse known to work with a MacBook that shares the same form factor (thumb cutout)? I much prefer this over the trackpad because of crappy wrist circulation.

Constant Wi-Fi disconnections with MBPro 2017

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 02:29 AM PST

It's like this since day one and I'm ready to throw the macbook through the window. It's my first Mac ever and I need to turn off and on again my Wifi each and every 5-10 minutes because it just stops working even tho it says "connected".

My wifi is 5ghz network, it works just fine with Xbox One X, two iPhones, Windows laptop and my desktop PC. Network speed is 300Mbps, I've tried:

running diagnosis, it says its all ok,

setting DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4,

changed my IP from dynamic to static,

turned on DMZ for my Macbook.

    I'm tired.

Does anyone else have issues with eye strain/UV light? Looking for answers and recommendations

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 07:34 AM PST

Hey r/macbook! I've recently encountered some pretty troublesome health issues regarding eye strain, headaches, etc. and it's without a doubt linked to my screen time. Have any of you had to deal with this before, and what did you do to fix it? I'm looking into getting some sort of blue light-blocking screen protector, or this app called f.lux. I got the app, but I'm not sure exactly how to use it to protect my eyes. I hear UV light can be a big health problem for people who spend a lot of time on computers...?

Basically, just looking out for my longevity.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post! Would love some feedback. Thanks, all!

Scale down all items on screen on 2014 MBA (1366x768)

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 02:16 AM PST

Hi All, wanted to get your opinions on how I can scale down everything in MacOS (currently running Sierra) so that I can fit more on my screen? I've gotten so used to my 15.4 MBP that working on this machine is damn near impossible now! Any ideas on how to maximise screen space? I don't mind text being half the size of default but not sure how to do it. Scaling options don't work in the same way as my MBP so at a bit of a loss...

    MacBook fell, screen broke

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 09:34 AM PST

My $3200 2018 MBP fell off my desk today (I tripped over the cable, and pulled it down). There's a small dent in the right corner of the top case...which broke the entire screen. I'm a bit frustrated because my previous MacBook from 2015 lasted 3 years and experienced similar falls, whereas this computer is only 3.5 months old.

I feel like the new MacBooks aren't as durable. I explained the situation honestly at two Apple Stores. I argued that for $3200, the computer should be more sturdy. They said, "This is a common problem, it especially happens when someone leaves their AirPods on the MacBook and closes the case."

Anyhow, they wouldn't honor the warranty and the cost is $680. The repair price isn't terrible as I get that a retina screen can't be cheap. But, I worry that this will happen again simply because the screen isn't as sturdy/protected as in the 2015 and early unibody MacBooks.

I wanted to make prospective consumers aware of this pitfall of the new MacBooks.
