    Steam not working on Mojave

    Posted: 15 Nov 2018 05:29 PM PST

I am not sure if this is the right sub, but I'm gonna give it a go.

Ever since updating to Mojave, I haven't been able to run Steam. I get a popup telling me it hasn't been optimized for the Mac Operating System. I removed Steam and re-downloaded, what I assume is the newest version from Steams website and it still doesn't work. I'll get the icon to appear in the dock, but it flashes then closes.

Has anyone ran into any issues with it or does anyone have a remedy?

Networking Turned Off When Program Minimized

    Posted: 15 Nov 2018 06:59 PM PST

At work we just got the new mac mini. Loving it, super fast! It came with Mojave installed, our old computer was still on High Sierra so I am pretty sure this issue is because of Mojave. When we minimize programs, we have noticed at the ethernet port stops connecting with stuff. It's like it turns off networking for programs if they are not open on the screen. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn that off?

    'Time Remaining' in Menu Bar

    Posted: 15 Nov 2018 03:50 AM PST

Is there any way to have a 'Time Remaining' for my battery life? I know there are paid apps like FruitJuice which do that, but I need something free if there is. I know I can just go to Activity Monitor to check, but that is a bit inconvenient.

My MacOS password has stopped working after system update

    Posted: 15 Nov 2018 04:44 PM PST

    Hello,

I've updated a system today (that was last Mojave's patch) and suddenly, after restart, my password has stopped working. I'm 100% sure that I was using my correct password. Yesterday I was laughing at my friend, that he forgot his password, and booom, today I have the same problem. iCloud password reset solved the problem but damn...

Has anyone had the same issue maybe?

Can I encrypt other volumes than the system volume using FileVault?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2018 06:48 AM PST

It seems as if FileVault only encrypts the system volume. How can I encrypt other volumes using FileVault (Mojave)?

Please help me form a strategy for merging my 2 El Capitan partitions

    Posted: 15 Nov 2018 03:54 AM PST

    Hey guys,
I've been googling for hours and absorbing info but i'd really like to be walked through the process for my specific situation by somebody who knows what they're doing, if somebody has the time. :) I don't wanna fudge anything up.

Here's my situation. I have a 1TB internal hard drive on my 12,2 iMac that upon purchasing i split into 2 partitions. I got this refurbished iMac around March 2017 which shipped with El Capitan, but at the time i wasn't ready to make the move from Snow Leopard yet (which i had been using on my previous iMac and had it cloned) since all my old music projects relied on the older software and plugins. So i split off 1 partition of 920GB and transferred my Snow Leopard clone onto it, and the original El Capitan partition became 80gb. The 80gb was just so could casually use the factory El Capitan for a while and see if i liked it.

Fast forward almost 2 years and i finally upgraded my 920gb Snow Leopard drive to El Capitan also, and all my old 32bit software works fine (!), so now i have no need for having split partitions anymore, and i want the disk space.
I just want 1 partition HD.

So just delete the 80gb partition right?
My problem is that, when viewing Disk Utility from the 920gb partition, the "-" button on the 80gb partition is greyed out so i can't delete it. And i can't resize it down, only up. Not sure how to proceed.

Is it because the 80gb partition is the original Macintosh HD drive?

    Here's my setup...

(please note that both drives are currently running El Capitan 10.11.6, despite what the disk names might lead you to think)

    1. The 80gb El Capitan drive is called "Macintosh HD". Or disk0s2. I realize this drive is full. I can fix that if needed for functionality reasons?

    2. The 920gb drive is called "SL 10.6.8". Or disk0s4. Despite the name, "SL 10.6.8" is running El Capitan as well (since today). This is the main/only drive i want to use going forward.

    3. An external HD that's 1TB. It's currently in use though and i would ideally prefer not to use it, but i can overwrite it if absolutely necessery. I'm hoping you guys can help me form a plan that doesn't involve using the external HD.

Some other plans to consider into the strategy:

    1. I'd also like to transfer a bunch of data over from my 80gb drive to the 920gb drive. Audio plugins, mostly. Some misc files too. Installed software if possible? But most important is the plugins and their licenses. Should i just copy it over like normal or would Migration be better for licenses/permissions/etc? Or some other way?

    2. I'm considering upgrading to Sierra at some point (slightly worried my licenses wont carry over? Also El Capitan has good stability for my 32bit software right now). Just a minor note, in case that gets worked into the strategy somewhere.

    Thanks for any help!

Trackpad stops working very frequently after Mojave upgrade

    Posted: 15 Nov 2018 04:55 AM PST

I'm using a 2018 MacBook Pro, recently upgraded to Mojave last week, I noticed a few instances where my trackpad would just suddenly stop working. It would be pressed in (deactivated?), so I wouldn't be able to click or move the mouse around. I didn't think much of it and would just restart my laptop, all would be good. However, it is now happening more frequently, I would have to restart my laptop 4-5 times a day. Whenever I use it, it just suddenly becomes unresponsive after a short time. I tried to do the reset suggested online – ctrl option shift + power, but it hasn't worked, or maybe I'm not doing it properly. How do I fix this?

I just installed Mojave couple of days ago in my MacBook Pro 2015

    Posted: 15 Nov 2018 03:01 AM PST

I'm having severe issues with battery, where the symbol says I'm at a percentage I'm not, and just in general it drains quickly.

This never happened before when I was using Captain. I wanted to update mainly to get certain apps updated as well, and everything works well except for that.

Is there any sure fix for this? Or should I downgrade?
