Mojave no longer allows for previous OS downloads Posted: 17 Nov 2018 09:33 AM PST I'm curious as to why they deny the downloads. I am trying to revive an 08 MBP and in trying to create a boot drive, went to download it. Purchases are no longer there, and I had to find an appstore link to even get El Capitain download. When clicking "Get", software updater told me "Nah, you don't need it". It's getting harder and harder to like Apple anymore... [link] [comments]
I keep getting the message: A software update is required to connect to *my iPad's name* Posted: 17 Nov 2018 06:05 PM PST Then installation fails because the software is not available from the software update server. I'm using iOS 12.1.1 public beta and Mojave [link] [comments]
Not sure where this belongs. Need automation to move screenshots to GoodNotes Posted: 17 Nov 2018 09:34 PM PST Not sure if this should be here, or in r/iPad. I am taking screenshots on my Mac. I use CMD + shift + 4 so they all end up on my desktop. I'd like a way to automatically add all of those screenshots to a folder, in chronological order. I then want to turn all the screenshots into a notebook in Goodnotes on my iPad. Is this possible? I know Hazel might be useful for some of this but honestly I mostly use my iPad these days and this is a short term project. Would prefer to save the $30. [link] [comments]
Convert two safari tabs to Split View? MacOSx 10.41.1 Posted: 17 Nov 2018 07:14 PM PST Is it possible to go from one Safari window with two tabs straight into taking the tabs into Split View? Currently, if I want two tabs split view I exit full screen, drag a tab out to a new window and then go into split view with the now two Safari windows. [link] [comments]
[Question] Mounting cloud drive/share Posted: 18 Nov 2018 01:08 AM PST I tried to dig in about how to mount a cloud drive , but most of things i came across was to use a cloud manager that enables u to manage different cloud providers. The cloud managers provide an hassle free software to access ur drives i understand that But i wanted to understand what is the way I can mount a cloud drive via terminal and access it just like any directory via finder / terminal Ex - mega cloud storage I have a fair bit of different share type protocols. Aim is to understand how exactly the cloud managers work on the backend Any leads would be helpful [link] [comments]
Disk Utility suppresses a bunch of errors Posted: 17 Nov 2018 07:48 PM PST It's a bunch of stuff in extenref free. Says whatever it's looking for is not found. Exit code is 0 so it's passing the disk. This never happened pre Mojave. It said it was performing deferred repairs but clearly didn't. At this point I don't even know if I want to fix this because it's yet another problem in the never ending list of problems this MacBook has generated. How would you fix this anyway? My Time Machine wont backup anymore since the drive may have failed [link] [comments]
Why is chrome so buggy and bad on Mac? Posted: 17 Nov 2018 03:55 AM PST There are a lot of bugs like - playing a video(say, youtube) on full screen and when you exit out of full screen it hides the tabs bar on top, the bad animation(moves the full-screen app window slightly down) when you check the menu bar by moving the cursor on top, stutters here and there, and many more. It's a shame since some websites usually require Chrome to run(since it's the most popular browser) and I actually prefer it but these things are very annoying to deal with and idk why Google can't fix them when Mozilla Firefox doesn't have those(1st two examples) issues. Are there any fixes to these issues? [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Nov 2018 05:32 PM PST Where are voice memos stored locally on my Mac? A few things found online suggested they're in one of the iTunes folders, or in library/application support/com.apple.voicememos/ somethingorother but neither location, nor any searches on my device, turn up any actual voice memos files. What can I do with my obsolete Mac? Posted: 17 Nov 2018 01:11 PM PST I have a Mac OS X 10.6.8 I'm obviously not computer savvy or I wouldn't have purchased an obsolete computer. Someone please help! Is there anything I can do? [link] [comments]
Downloading High Sierra from Mojave Posted: 17 Nov 2018 11:02 AM PST Since this has come up several times in today's threads I thought I would post my reply as a separate message. To download an older version of MacoOS with Mojave you have to remove the Mojave installer from the Applications directory and then download an older version of the OS. I just did this last night on a 2015 Mojave based Macbook Air. I downloaded High Sierra. I found this info with a Google search last night but for some reason I can't find that web page again today. Wish I could give proper credit where due but I just can't find them again. [link] [comments]

Install macOS Mojave on Virtual Box (running on a Windows machine) Posted: 17 Nov 2018 10:48 AM PST Could someone tell me if it's feasible to install macOS Mojave on Virtual Box? I've been looking at tutorials online but they are all for High Sierra or earlier. If you could also point me towards a tutorial, that'd be great! [link] [comments]
Videos/animated GIFs in Firefox send CPU temp high and fans spinning Posted: 17 Nov 2018 11:34 AM PST I see tons of complaints across both Chrome and Firefox for memory or CPU eating. Chrome works just fine for me, but I'm not a fan of Google so I'd rather use Firefox. However, Firefox doesn't handle moving pictures very well. The CPU temp will spike and the fans spin at top speed even just a few seconds after the video/GIF starts. Is this just a me things or does anyone else experience this? It's not a new thing. It's been happening for years. I usually just give up and go back to Chrome. Any suggestions? Mid-2014 MBP 15' i7 Intel Iris Pro graphics. [link] [comments]
MacOS Mojave Clean Install - Partitions Question Inside Posted: 17 Nov 2018 08:57 AM PST Hello Everyone, I just purchased a refurb 2018 MacBook Pro and it had High Sierra installed. I prepped a USB Flash drive with MacOS Mojave base install files for a clean installation (format the drive, install from scratch) and noticed upon booting up with the USB drive there is a separate partition called "osx base system partition." My questions are:
Thanks in advance for everyone's time and help, it is GREATLY appreciated. [link] [comments]

[Help] Issue / bug with a font on Pages (OldNewspaperTypes) Posted: 17 Nov 2018 07:54 AM PST I have a font installed on my Mac called "OldNewspaperType" (you can download it on dafont.com: Old Newspaper Types). It seems to be a pretty popular font as it has been downloaded about 855 682 times so far. The issue I have is that on Pages (Apple's default word processor on macOS), everytime I press the Enter key, some sort of a quotation mark appears at the end of the line, as you can see on this screenshot. I tried using the font on TextEdit and Microsoft Word and I don't have this problem, so I assume that this is an issue with Pages (or its configuration). I've uninstalled then reinstalled the font (and Pages itself) but the bug persists. Anyone is having the same issue? Is there a way to fix this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Nov 2018 07:17 AM PST I'm coming from Windows so I'm kinda used to that bar. I thought I'd get used to living without it, but after 9 months I'm still not. I have many windows of the same apps open (need them for my job), so treating them all as a single thing doesn't work well and I find myself using right click on the app > find right window way too often. So, about 2 weeks ago I started searching for task bar apps. I found uBar 4. It comes with 14 days of free trial, then an unreasonable price tag of $30; it would be reasonable if the product worked well, but it has so many bugs and no support at all that it's hard to recommend for even $15 - it's basically a dead product that is never going to get any better. I can see uBar 5 (still full of bugs) being released before uBar 4 is even stable enough to be called a final product. So, please no! Also, to get it out of the way, I'm already using Contexts 3, which was well worth the $10 I paid! I still keep the dock hidden on the right side of the screen for the shortcuts, but I do need a real taskbar to be more productive. Is there any decent alternative to uBar? I don't mind paying $30 if the product is worth it. [link] [comments]
