    We're pleased to announce the addition of two new members to our mod team!

    Hey, my name is Max. I have been jailbreaking since 2010. I've been taking a software development class for the past couple of years, which has given me some knowledge in programming. I'm always on the subreddit and always happy to help!

    Hey, I'm Ben. I've been jailbreaking since iOS 4.1. Since those days I've been working on web design with a focus on UI, and, largely thanks to Reddit CSS, I've improved immensely. This account was actually made a couple years back just to message some moderators a fix to a CSS issue that had been plaguing them for months. I'm very experienced with the majority of web languages (pls no PHP), and have 5+ years of experience developing with Java and Python. If you ever need any help with anything I'm experienced with, feel free to PM me; I'd be glad to help :)

    So there is still a conflict with the keyboard when the phone is in landscape mode while playing a game (old school runescape for me) and I was wondering if there was anyway that someone can fix it or even disable it during landscape mode.

    It would help with other games as well that are in landscape mode but the emojis are just in the way.

    [Discussion] I feel like my time with JBs are coming to an end and I want to talk about it

    First of all, this is not meant to be a doom and gloom post, I know the scene is alive, I just feel that jailbreaks become something I find harder and harder to enjoy and I want to talk about it.

    I've been using jailbreaks since the very first iPod Touch and ever since then my device line went like this: iPod Touch 2nd Gen --> iPhone 3G --> iPhone 4 --> iPhone 5 --> iPhone 5S --> iPhone 6S which is what I use now and I was always happy with each device and jailbreak. Now I will be honest without jailbreaks I wouldn't use iOS at all on my daily device. Don't get me wrong, I love iOS and vastly prefer it over Android since it feels so smooth, polished, elegant, homely and yet still functional and fast but without a jailbreak it's far too limited. I tried Android before with the G1, HTC Desire and a Nexus 4 and always went back to my iPhones within two weeks at most.

    I jailbreak my devices for a few reasons. I grew up with DOS and Windows 95 on the PC side and I can't really say why but with my personal devices I always feel the need to customize them if I can to make them feel "mine". This started when my brother allowed me to customize our Windows 95 PC and it went on and on, with my hacked PSP, over my Wii, to my 3DS and Vita and I even made my own PS3 and XBOX 360 themes as limited as that was.

    So with this in mind Winterboard and later on Anemone were some of the prime reasons for me to jailbreak my devices but of course I would do it to enhance functionality like adding widgets to my home and lockscreen, nested folders, free icon layouts, using emulators, have more icons in my dock, set up all kinds of things with Activator and so on. Naturally this always had some downsides too like not always being able to upgrade to the latest iOS version without losing your JB and the tweaks needing time to be updated after each new JB on a new major iOS version. I always felt that my gains far outweighed my drawbacks, well atleast till after my iPhone 5S on iOS 8.4.

    Jailbreaks for signed firmwares slowly came to an end and with that getting a JB became a waiting game more than ever. Waiting for new exploits to be found and used often took time, I remember with my iPhone 5 I had to wait a few months till iOS 7 was jailbroken but nowadays things are a little different. Since nobody burns expensive exploits on signed firmwares anymore, for reasons I can fully understand, you have to save blobs and Futurerestore which is somewhat risky. If something goes wrong you have to upgrade to the latest firmware and it's not the most straightforward process as you also have to keep SEP's in mind. Currently I'm unable to update my iPhone 6S on 10.2.1 because the iOS 12 SEP is incompatible even though I have blobs. Or you updated to another version outright and simply wait for a JB to appear which might or might not happen. Don't get me wrong, I know someone will always make a public JB sooner or later but having to sit tight on stock iOS and wait for it to happen also isn't the most convenient thing if you don't like stock iOS like me.

    Another thing that deters me recently is apps detecting JB's. We have great developers trying to work around this but that's not always successful and simply also not reasonable for smaller apps without a big userbase. Fate Grand Order stands out as one of the toughest nuts to crack, as far as I know some banking and subscriptions apps are affected aswell. Now I have enough other devices I can use affected apps on, like my iPad which I left without a JB for this reason and it being a shared device and not entirely my own. This all is no problem but it makes jailbreaks more and more inconvenient to me and I started to question the gains versus the inconveniences.

    I won't lie though, Apple's hardware pricing also factors into this as for the first time I feel I have no compelling device to upgrade to. I'm not exactly rich so I always go for iPhones that are one or two generations older than the most current on and always felt I got a healthy upgrade but this time I don't see it. The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 8 are basically my current iPhone 6S just faster and I feel the 6S still stomps every game and app I throw at it with ease so this would feel more like a sidegrade and even the iPhone XR feels far too expensive with either a huge upfront cost or high monthly fees. Don't get me wrong, I know Apple was always expensive and I could afford even an iPhone XS if I really wanted without me landing on the streets but after a certain amount of money you have to question if it's worth it and for me it isn't and this time I'm left without a good budget option.

    So it kind of makes me sad but as it stands now it seems my iPhone 6S and double-h3lix will be my last iPhone and jailbreak after nearly 10 years, I don't like Android still but after trying it again on a 200€ budget Xiaomi I would lie if I said it didn't get massively better and by now I could probably live with it, even if I still prefer jailbroken iOS by far though getting there is far too inconvenient for me nowadays. That and I have to say Xiaomi's pricing is pretty hard to beat, for a little over 400€ I could get a phone with a HDR10 AMOLED screen, the fastest Android SoC available and 128gb of storage wholesale.

    I know it became a wall of text but I simply wanted to share my thoughts and hear what other people think about this and if others maybe feel the same way.

    [Question] Can you remove a MDM profile?

    My school uses ipads, Ipads that WE paid for.. I am slowly going insane because of apps moving and teachers being able to view everything, This is MY ipad.. So my question is can you remove the MDM profile?

    Edit: Let me make this clear, Yes, To attend the school you need to buy a ipad or get it via a "monthly subscribtion" that is through school.. When kids graduate or leave school they probably remove it via the "control panel" that zulu desk has.

    I just updated the tweak and my device was logged out of all accounts (icloud, watusi etc) plus it shot up my cpu usage to 200% on cocoatop with excessive phone heating. Uninstalled it and everything came back to normal. Just wanted to give a heads-up to others using it. edit : just a clarification for those who don't know what the tweak does,it's a simple dark mode for whatsapp.

    EmojiPort Installer TLDR and Landing page

    EmojiPortInstaller is a script that will install EmojiPort and the iOS 12.1 font file for you, to easily get the 12.1 emojis. If you want to learn more, read the above linked post about it.

    Now, to get on to today's update:

    • Should save ~50 mb compared to v1.0.5

    This update is overdue. Sorry. ALSO, DO NOT try installing this on anything earlier than 10.0.

    NOTE- on 10.x kppless jailbreaks, emojiport itself is extremely broken, and will mess up your cydia. Install the font file manually.

    To fix the emoji selection bug, downgrade emojiport to 1.2.2f. I can't do anything about this until poomsmart fixes it, lets hope 1.2.2h fixes it.
