Can’t shutdown/restart/logout Macbook Posted: 01 Oct 2018 02:18 AM PDT After few minutes later using macbook Pro (Retina 15 inch , Mid 2015, Mojave 10.14) External HDD getting slow and even can't exit it. So I try to logout (or restart/shutdown) but it's stuck in desktop (without icons and top bar) but it's not like mac is freezing. I can move cursor and icon dock is still remain but nothing open even if I click any applications. Force restart with Ctlr+Cmd+Power Button even not works - it just put mac sleep mode. I already tried to force shut down and restart it but same problem happens again. How can I fix this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Oct 2018 01:54 AM PDT Trying to access document revisions from other than the in-app Revisions Browser - maybe to bulk remove revisions and save space - is not as easy as I thought. 3rd party apps are capable to discover revisions for local files but fail if they were - as for iWork files - shared from another Apple device and as such residing on iCloud. This is a relatively new feature introduced with High Sierra. I suspect Apple did change Document Revisions foundation from a local-only feature managed by revisiond deamon to something cloud-friendly. Transition to APFS possibly played a role as well. As example now it is possible to load versions from iCloud. Do anybody knows how this feature currently works? [link] [comments]
Safari iCloud open tabs not working Posted: 30 Sep 2018 06:55 PM PDT Since having upgraded to iOS12 and MacOS Mojave the syncing of tabs across safari in the cloud hasn't been working for me. Handoff is turned on and working, plus i've turned off devices etc etc. Is this happening to anyone else? [link] [comments]

Is there a way to extend an application window past the dock (without hiding)? Posted: 30 Sep 2018 09:33 PM PDT I have a 13 inch display so every bit of extra room is beneficial. I like having my dock visible at all times because I use my downloads folder a lot and I hate the time it take for it to appear when you hide the dock (plus you don't get a download completion percentage visual). Other than that, I rarely use the dock and its quite disappointing since I have so much empty space to the left and right of the dock that can't be filled. Is there a terminal command or something to bypass this? [link] [comments]
Safari Networking killing battery Posted: 30 Sep 2018 01:11 PM PDT Hi, Anyone else experiencing rogue safari networking process? It drains my battery in 2 hours and heats my macbook to oven temperatures. Killing it helps for a couple minutes but then its right back to 100+% cpu usage and extremely high energy impact. I've cleared all caches and stuff but I'm not sure what else I can do apart from switching browsers. P.S This started after upgrading to Mojave [link] [comments]
Messages app not staying active after closing Posted: 30 Sep 2018 03:53 PM PDT After updating to macOS Mojave, I have noticed that my Messages app does not stay active after closing it out like it used to in previous versions. Is anyone else experiencing this issue or does anyone happen to know how to fix it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Sep 2018 07:06 PM PDT Fam- Major issues after Mojave install coming from High Sierra: Performance Not able to read mounted drives Random freezes But above all, OS is not turning on any radios or recognizing Ethernet. No wifi, BT, etc. I'll spare you the stupidity of not backing up before install but I'm very VERY stuck now. Help! [link] [comments]
Dark color wallpaper that will blend in with dark menu. Posted: 30 Sep 2018 12:09 PM PDT I remembered a few years ago, someone on reddit posted a picture he made that will make the dark menu bar completely blend in with the wallpaper. And he basically stated that this RGB color, and said if you set your wallpaper to this color, the line between menu bar and desktop will disappear. Does anyone know what that RGB color is? I just want my menu bar completely blend in with the wallpaper. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Random freezing on wake after upgrading to Mojave Posted: 30 Sep 2018 05:23 PM PDT I have a macbook pro 2018 model and have been using it for months without any issue, but the very first day I upgraded to Mojave, this issue showed up, right after I opened the macbook lid, it displayed the password screen and then the system would sometimes freeze up to 10-20 seconds before booting it to the desktop I have tried to:
Any ideas what this could be? [link] [comments]
Mojave App Store - Alpha software? Posted: 30 Sep 2018 10:42 PM PDT Hi, Seriously wondering if the app store app in mojave is in alpha or beta state? Some apps that I've installed via the app store show the cloud icon to suggest I can install or download this as Ive had the app before but its not on the system now. Except that, well I just installed it? Other apps that I have uninstalled show as installed in the app store with an Open button that doesn't do anything. Mojave so far is a disaster for me. Window behavior in iMessages and Notes Posted: 30 Sep 2018 12:38 PM PDT Most Apple apps on macOS close the window and quit the app on Command+W. Some Apple apps (like almost all third-party apps) correctly close the window but not close the app. Apple apps that close on Command+W are:
Apple apps that do not close on Command+W are:
I think this is highly inconsistent. For example, Apple documentation on keyboard shortcuts for Messages clearly distinguishes between Command+W (close window) and Command+Q (quit app). But the implementation is different. I wonder if any of you know if this behavior can be changed via a defaults.write so that Command+W only closes the window. [link] [comments]

Are there different types of clean install? Posted: 30 Sep 2018 07:37 AM PDT I want to speed up an old Mac. I don't understand the difference between a factory reset, re-installing the OS from the Mac, and reinstalling it from a USB. For instance, is either of these two methods better for speeding up the OS? https://gizmodo.com/make-your-mac-feel-like-new-again-with-a-fresh-install-1697926482 https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/how-clean-install-macos-3637409/ [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Sep 2018 12:50 PM PDT I just upgraded to Mojave, did a clean install now Mail is acting weird. I have 4 mail accounts from my hosting company plus my iCloud account. Their inboxes are all under the main Index tab as it should be, as is the sent, drafts, junk and trash. Below the Mailboxes section there is the hide-able iCloud section. My 4 main mailboxes each have a spam bucket folder, on High Sierra each of these spam bucket folders where in a hide-able section (like Mailboxes and iCloud) under the respective account names. After the reinstall whenever I create the spam bucket folders (set up as new mailbox like I did on High Sierra) they show up as they should for a few seconds then the folder and the name section thing with the hide/show button just vanishes as if I never created it. Any ideas what this could be? Did I forget a setting somewhere? [link] [comments]

SD card unmounts when I put my MB Pro to sleep since the Mojave update Posted: 30 Sep 2018 07:37 AM PDT As the title says, since I updated to Mojave, my Macbook Pro unmounts my sd card and I get a message that it has not been unmounted correctly. Then I need to re-insert my sdcard to activate it, and this really annoys me! It worked like a charm on High Sierra. Any idea to fix this? [link] [comments]
[Mojave] Hard Disk and fan Sleep Wake Loop Posted: 30 Sep 2018 03:21 AM PDT I have a MacBook Pro 2012 non retina that I recently updated to Mojave. When the laptop is plugged into the wall and I put the computer to sleep (either by closing lid or pressing sleep option on screen), I would hear the hard disk and fan turn off (an indicator the computer is actually asleep) only to hear them turn back on seconds later. The laptop continues to run through this sleep-wake loop and never goes to sleep. This issue has never occurred on High Sierra and does not seem to happen when the laptop is running on battery. Is anyone else facing the same problem or have any suggestions to fix it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Sep 2018 05:24 AM PDT Has anyone noticed that in Mojave it's no longer possible to position a window so that the top edge is completely flush with the bottom of the menu bar? There seems to be a one pixel gap that makes this impossible. I found it was particularly noticeable with an incognito window in Chrome (I don't think Chrome has been updated for dark mode yet and so I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with Chrome). Anyone noticed this? Surely it must be a bug? [link] [comments] |
