For those having WiFi/LTE issues, did 12.1 fix it? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 06:24 AM PDT I'm happy to report that after exhausting all troubleshooting methods, replacing my iPhone XS, installing 12.0.1 and the betas, iOS 12.1 FINALLY fixed my WiFi issues! I'm finally getting the speeds I should been getting in addition to a stronger connection throughout my house. Furthermore, my LTE speeds seem to have improved although I wasn't experiencing the same level of problems some of you were. It's been a frustrating experience, but i'm glad it's fixed. I'm curious if anyone of you are experiencing the same thing. [link] [comments]

The (battery life of the) iPhone XR is just amazing Posted: 31 Oct 2018 03:25 AM PDT I got it yesterday and have used it for 7h 42min and have used ~60%. I also love how the screen looks, even thiugh many people (who don't own the XR) were complaining, but it's bright, has great colours and is BIG (especially when because I'm coming from a SE). I love the vibrations and how it is used, like when you upvote a post. I just love Face ID, it has worked every time (even in a nearly completely dark room), unlike Touch ID, which worked like 1/10 times on my SE and 6s. It is like not having a password, but still save from intruders. I don't really miss 3D-Touch, as I got used to it by using the SE for 1.5 months. I'm still not completely used to gestures for app switching, but I can definitely see that it's much more useful than a homebutton and 3D-Touch on the edge of the screen. Some apps aren't fitted exactly to the curved corners and notch though, like Minecraft and some apps are even in a 3:2 aspect ratio and don't use the full screen, but that's to blame on the developers. Edit: Formatted the text into paragraphs :) [link] [comments]

How good are the “like new replacements?” Posted: 31 Oct 2018 09:14 AM PDT So I had an issue with my iPhone 8 Plus that was about 2 months old with the silent switch not working. I took it to the apple store last night and they just swapped it out for a "like new device". I asked what that meant and he said "all of the major components are new". The more I'm thinking about it today the more I'm questioning it.. my phone was 2 months old.. who knows how old this one is and where it's been? Am I over thinking this? I bought it outright so it was a hefty chunk of change.. honestly considering seeing who has the best Black Friday deals for the same thing and trading it in. The fact that I paid for a brand new one and now have a used one is bothering me. It's like buying a brand new car and taking it back with an issue and they swap it out for one that had been used as a rental.. it's "new" but it's not. Advice? [link] [comments]
Google hangouts hangs up calls when I lock the screen? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 06:50 AM PDT My work just upgraded me from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone 7. The plan they're on has unlimited data, but limited voice minutes (don't ask...). To get around this on the old iPhone 6 I used google hangouts for calls from the phone, and it worked like a champ. After receiving the new iPhone 7, I installed hangouts on it as well, but I can't lock the phone. If I do, it hangs up the call. Right before the screen goes black I see the google hangouts icon and a message "Hangouts Audio Ended". I've googled and dug through settings repeatedly and can't find anything. Does anyone have any ideas? EDIT: iOS 11.2.6, AT&T EDIT2: Solved, thanks to /u/masseyzac for verbage to search for that sent me down the right rabbit hole! [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Oct 2018 09:48 AM PDT Lately, I've been trying to find apps that stand head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to the TrueDepth camera and AR. Would love for people to add to this list. Favorite: HEGES Takes a 3D scan of your face with remarkable detail. Heges also can be used on your environment and objects in your environment. There are options to export your scans to your desktop, for use with software like Maya, Cinema4D, ZBrush etc. The poly count on these models is astounding, a testament to the minute details that the TrueDepth camera can "see". You can also view these models using an AR viewer. I have spent hours just fooling around making silly faces and glitching our the 3D scans for hilarious results. Definitely a fun group activity. There are other 3D scan apps on the store, but Heges is the unknown app that beats them all. Runner up: Live Normal lets you scan surfaces/objects and turn them into 3D textures for use with software like Maya, Cinema4D, ZBrush etc. Generates decent normal maps. Haven't used it much, but it's fun. Those apps aren't featured in the App Store, but they represent the kind of thinking I want to see more of. Heges especially has a huge potential, but almost no coverage. Other more well-known apps that I love are Insight Heart and Atlas for anatomy exploration in AR. What other unsung heroes are out there on the App Store? I'd love to know the best apps for 3D scanning, AR viewing, Animoji clones, animation, AR drawing, etc etc [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2018 09:38 AM PDT Hi all, I want to set do not disturb on my iPhone to disallow any calls from people not on my contacts list. Always, with no exceptions. It seems like this should be easy to set up: settings -> dnd -> dnd on + allow calls from "only contacts". But for some reason it actually doesn't work. I've also tried "scheduling" from like 900pm to 859pm (i.e., always on), and that doesn't work. I think sometimes it's like going in and out of airplane mode (e.g., that turns off DND), but I can't figure out why it doesn't work more generally. So, ideas? Should I have DND "on" and "scheduled" set or just do one or the other? Maybe they're both on and confusing each other? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Question: From Android to iPhone? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 09:35 AM PDT Hey All! I've been an Android user since they started. I currently have the Pixel XL. I'm disappointed with Google's choices and am thinking about switching to iPhone. I was thinking of the XS or the 8+. Do you have any suggestions? Can you advise why its a good or bad idea? What challenges I may face? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2018 04:28 AM PDT Is there any evidence that Apple is moving toward USB-C for next years iPhones and the next AirPods? What are the chances they would do away with charging ports and go strictly to wireless charging? (USB-C powered charging mat.) I'm talking AirPods, iPhone, AppleTV remote, etc. [link] [comments]

Transferring 'purchased' music from iPhone to iTunes or pc. Posted: 31 Oct 2018 06:56 AM PDT Hi. I have 3 months of free Apple Music. I downloaded lots of albums. But they are only in my phone.
