Posted: 31 Oct 2018 07:02 AM PDT I'm planning on upgrading from my current 10.5" iPad Pro to one of the new iPad Pros announced yesterday. When I purchased my previous one, it was a no-brainer for me to pick the 10.5" since the 12.9" was way too big for my purposes. This time, however, I'm genuinely torn on which to get. I have an iMac at home, and an 11" MacBook Air I use exclusively at work (teacher). Whichever iPad I choose will be my main portable computing device. Obviously, the size of the new 11" is nice, but with the new 12.9" being about the size of a piece of 8.5"x11" paper, I can't honestly say it's that much less portable. The big advantage of the 11" seems to be the $200 price discount. The only other difference I've considered (and I'm not sure if it's really a positive or a negative) is the slightly wider aspect ratio of the new 11" device. I'm looking for the thoughts/opinions of anyone in a similar situation to me. Perhaps there's something I haven't considered. Thanks in advance to everyone who responds. [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2018 09:21 AM PDT I'm thinking of selling my MacBook and get the new iPad pro. How's Lightroom performance on the current 10.5" pro? What's your workflow like? I'm not sure which one to get yet. Any recommendations? [link] [comments]

Apple’s new A12X iPad Pro... a warning to Intel Posted: 31 Oct 2018 07:14 AM PDT Is there any doubt that the Photoshop demo on the iPad was a glimpse of the future of Macs without Intel? In the demo, a 3GB .PSD file was edited in Photoshop on an iPad Pro with ZERO LAG... is there an Intel professor inside a $1000,00 machine that can do the same? Hopefully, we will see the first MacBooks with A14X chips by 2020! [link] [comments]
Anyone with gen2 12.9 upgrading? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 04:58 AM PDT I have a 12.9 and I really can't a find a must have feature to upgrade besides the new processor. But even then so far no apps that the 2nd gen can't handle especially since iOS 12 everything is butter smooth and I suspect it to be the case for at least another year or 2. But screen quality and Apple Pencil performance seem the same. The biggest gripe I have is the price hike, just feel no reason besides pure profits typically Apple. Still I'm curious if anyone with 2nd gen will upgrade and why. [link] [comments]
A12X Geekbench estimates with Apple’s claimed improvement over A10X Posted: 31 Oct 2018 11:28 AM PDT Apple claims 35% faster single thread and 90% faster multi thread with 2x faster graphics. So lets take those percentage differences from the A10X geekbench scores and get the performance shall we :)

Posted: 31 Oct 2018 01:10 PM PDT Bought a 12.9 iPad Pro 3 after launch to replace my deprecated iPad3, buying a USB-C to USB-A connector but completely forgot about lack of headphone jack. Fortunately Apple is now selling USB-C to 3.5mm dongle for $9 and it will ship/arrive before the new iPad. [link] [comments]
Which iPad to get? (as a student) Posted: 31 Oct 2018 08:03 AM PDT I know this question rises quite a lot. Yet I just can't seem to figure what will be best for me. Here's my situation: - I study computer science - I would love to take notes digitally (handwritten tho) since my notes on paper turn out quite unstructured and ugly - I am hestitating between the 2nd gen iPad pro (10.5 or 12.9) and the 3rd gen iPad pro (11 or 12.9) and lastly a Microsoft Surface Pro - I own a desktop PC at home and no Laptop yet (which is why the Surface Pro is one of my potential choices too) Since I will sooner or later need a Laptop to like do group work or code stuff in college I was thinking to either: -get one of the iPads and a cheap laptop (since I only really need the laptop to code) - or get the Surface Pro What boggles my mind is that an iPad pro 12.9 3rd gen is quite a pricy machine if i'll also have to get an laptop in addition My summary so far: iPad pro 12.9 is great for multitasking and taking notes which comes at a price of portability since its such a big device (which may not be a concern with the 3rd gen one since it's size has been reduced?) iPad pro 11 is portable but most posts ive seen so far said that they would rather have an iPad pro 12.9 since it would be nicer to take notes on Surface Pro is great at taking notes and I could also do my group work and coding stuff (but the stylus has more input lag than the one of the iPad pro which would maybe (is it that noticable?) bother me) Im sorry for the long post, I just wanted to give you guys my thoughts on this so you can kind of understand my situation I also apologise if my english isn't the best since english is not my native language tldr: can't decide between iPad pro 11 or 12.9 (+cheap laptop for coding) and surface pro for primarily taking handwritten notes and coding in class Appreciate all your answers from all you wonderful beings. Has anyone else stopped using the home button to train themselves not to rely on it? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 05:30 AM PDT I have never owned any iPhone, so all of this gesture only stuff is not second nature to me. Once the rumors really started ramping up, and especially once the event was announced, I tried to stop using my home button entirely, almost cold turkey. Has anyone else been doing this, knowing they would be buying the new gen? For me, it has been going pretty alright, I only hit the home button out of instinct a few times a day, and I am getting better. I really couldn't grasp how to pull up my multitasking apps using gestures, it was very inconsistent for me, but watching one of the hands on videos for the new iPads totally helped, as I had only ever read how to do the gestures, and never saw them in a video. All in all, I think I am just about ready for "the future." I am hoping that the tap to wake feature works without the pencil, I have not really seen confirmation that it does, but if so, it is a feature I am very much looking forward to. Anyone else looking for a reason to justify the cost of the new iPad Pro? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 01:19 AM PDT I have an iPad mini, it's great for my current use cases (mostly reading, watching movies, etc). I have been wanting to get back into drawing and the iPad Pro/Apple Pencil seem like really cool tools for that. Anyone else considering an iPad Pro for activities they aren't currently doing? Edit: thanks all for your feedback! I've never used an iPad Pro so I'm not too concerned with the changes from version to version. I'm more curious about if others are tempted and/or how they may justify buying one to use it for something they don't use an iPad for today. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Is the original Apple Pencil compatible with the new iPad Pro? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 08:51 AM PDT I've been looking everywhere and can't find a definite answer. If I get a USB C to lightning adapter I could plug it into the iPad. Would it pair? [link] [comments]

iPad Pro 11” - 50/50 spilt view & keyboard Posted: 30 Oct 2018 07:29 PM PDT Seeing as the new iPad Pro 11" has a different aspect ratio (wider screen in landscape) will 50/50 split view allow for iPad UI on both apps like the bigger 12.9"? Currently on the 10.5" The apps shrink down to iPhone UI when doing 50/50. Also what's the on screen keyboard like? Is there any additional keys like the 12.9"? [link] [comments] |
