    You have to remember that we, the subscribers, are the ones that use this subreddit. The mods are supposed to be here to prevent the garbage that naturally occurs on subreddits, not dictate arbitrary rules as they please. If we want the jailbreaking scene to stay strong and still be there, some real changed need to be made.

    There have been countless people who were major players (and if not helpers at least) who have left the community permanently because of the crap that goes on. With that being said the current moderation is not working. How can you argue that you're helping the community when it's clearly becoming more and more inhibiting.

    Also anytime a critique of moderation happens, the thread becomes an echo chamber with all the mods backing each other up. The state of this subreddit is deteriorating, which has had a negative impact and will further negativity impact the jailbreak scene. Something needs to be done to preserve the future of jailbreaking.

    ​

    The discord (which is advertised on this subreddit and subreddit mods are acknowledged there as well) has become just a social club between a clique where bans and damaging information is passed around by "geniuses" (with shady credentials) and others. Also there have been a number of bans solely because of power hungry moderation.

    If you love jailbreaking please consider all of this

    I'm sorry for the long read & wall of text.

    I'm putting my two cents in here. I generally have respected most of the community moderators. I don't always (or often) agree with them, but they are certainly strong voices in the community who stuck around when the ones at the top left.

    However, I don't see any mods actually trying to work with users in this issue. Users have brought up many strong arguments and have very reasonable demands, but the mod team has been mostly silent and unresponsive.

    Every time I see a mod's comment, they are saying that it was the mod team's decision and that's just how it is. They're brushing it off and acting as if they don't have to power to listen to the wants of the other members of this subreddit.

    Some mods have been acting upright like children. One in particular is /u/n0mar. This isn't a call to lay down your personal attacks on him, alright? But this is certainly not behavior that we should be seeing from mods that are trying to find the best solution for this community. I mean, what is this?

    Quite frankly cause everyone is over everything. Everyone in this subreddit gets treated like shit: developers, moderators, even normal users. And then people wonder why someone else has left the community.

    Some of my comments are unprofessional/childish because no matter what I say, it'll be downvoted. Might as well have a bit of a laugh at it too. Everyone needs to relax.

    Everyone needs to relax, I agree. It isn't easy for the community to calm down though when you're poking at the fire. And throwing away your duty as a mod because you're going to be downvoted anyway? Instead of doing what he was elected to do as a moderator of this subreddit, n0mar is stirring further drama and making things worse, while laughing at it all the while.

    Now I understand where the mods are coming from with their new rules and strengthened stance against piracy. But the votes are in and frankly, it's not what the community wants or needs. We've known for a long time that moderator's rules are incredibly overbearing.

    I'm sure you all remember, what, two years ago now? when JulioVerne bless our lord and savior released Ext3nder. It was a very needed tool for the community with the beginning of Semi-untethered jailbreaks. However, I think the mods have a strong bias about JulioVerne.

    When ext3nder was released, it blew up briefly before the mods tossed it in a bag, and out the window. I know who JulioVerne is, I know what he's done. We can face the fact that Julio rehosts paid and free packages and provides methods of cracking DRMs.

    The mods of this subreddit banned any discussion of his extremely legal version of Ext3nder. It was originally banned because it was prepackaged with Saurik's Extender ipa. With all due respect to Jay, Extender hasn't really been maintained or supported at all in it's current state since it was released, so the whole worrying about supporting an unofficial version isn't really a concern, especially when everyone knows where they got Ext3nder from.

    Eventually, if I recall correctly, discussion of the package with banned for the simple fact that it was hosted on Julio's repo. I understand banning direct links to his repo which at the time contained piracy content, but similar to what we're facing now, helping other users find it was not allowed. Users had to resort to weird spelling (ext-three-nder) to avoid AutoModerator from picking up on it, only to have their comments removed later manually.

    More directly regarding piracy, it is a very real issue, one which shouldn't be ignored. However, the mods take it too far. I know apparently back in the day there was an incident where Reddit admins shut down /r/jailbreak for having piracy content. The mods love telling this story. But it doesn't apply. At least not anymore, anyway.

    Mods, if you reply to any part of my post, please I pray to god respond to this one.

    Reddit Admins very much still allow very obviously piracy themed subreddits. It's hard to come up with examples, and the subreddits are very small, so I'll see if I can find one...

    how about /r /piracy (link left broken so this post doesn't get taken down, understandably). A community over 2/3 our size, and their sole purpose is sharing pirated content. I'm sorry mods, but you can't just tell us it's to keep the subreddit up, that it's for our own protection. It's a lie. Providing links to the tvOS profile, or to a working copy of MP Electra wouldn't kill the community. It might even help breath some life back into it, because right now, we just aren't allowed to help each other.

    The freedom we sought when we left Apple's walled garden is being stripped from us under the guise that it's for our own good, by an elite few who stuck around to sit on top. The community has seriously deteriorated since /u/saurik and /u/beetling have left us. We can't be managed by a group that doesn't know what we need.

    I know we've hit the point where we need actual rules to change, and a refresh of the moderator team. Some of these people just aren't qualified to run a community they clearly do not connect with.

    [Tutorial] How to update to iOS 12 from 11.3.1 JB without losing apps and personal data safely.

    Hi r/Jailbreak,

    I have put together an almost perfect way of unjailbreaking and updating without losing any of your personal data like apps or health data stuff like that. But it is an incredibly lengthy process and requires a PC, I am not sure anyone would bother but I have done it and I am happy on iOS 12 and I have no problems whatsoever. So I am going to try my best at guiding someone who wants to do the same as I did. Please read this tutorial very very carefully as it is my first, and if you have any concerns leave a comment im just trying to help. (If you dont care at all about losing your data please ignore this and follow a different guide to unjailbreak and freshly install iOS 12)

    ​

    1) First is to disable all your tweaks in settings respring then uninstall all of them from cydia including anemone/themes etc.

    (IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT DELETE CYDIA GUI OR ANY OF THE CYDIA DEPENDENCIES ONLY PERSONAL TWEAKS YOU INSTALLED.)

    2) Then you want to get icleaner from cydia and use it to delete preference files that have been left over from uninstalling your tweaks using the + menu.

    (Note: Pay attention to the names of your tweaks you had, do not just erase everything in the menu*. Then run icleaner atleast once with cydia dependencies on to further clear out anything else jailbreak related.* Also very important, if you have DISABLED any daemons with icleaner in the past, make sure they are all turned back ON before the next step!)

    3) After respringing by this point you are almost a quarter way done. Download Rollectra/Semi-Restore11 from cydia and TURN OFF perform full restore. Then tap unjailbreak.(Note: After using rollectra without performing a full restore your settings in the settings app will be reset to stock so if you want to keep those how they are, screenshot them and just reconfigure everything when done.)

    4) Now after your phone reboots and everything is done you should see a white setup screen. Go through the prompt and reach the springboard.

    5) Next test is to see if any jailbreak protected apps work. I use Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp since I havent been able to play it since I jailbroke. If it works flawlessly by opening and closing it or playing without it crashing then you are almost done.

    (Note: if you see any icons on the springboard like cydia or rollectra app, you have more steps to do. If that is your case. DO NOT DELETE YOUR ELECTRA JAILBREAK APP YET. If you do not see those icons and jailbreak protected apps work perfectly then skip to the end.)

    6) Now this is if you have cydia or rollectra apps on your springboard after rollectra finished. Rejailbreak using Electra with TWEAKS TURNED OFF. After you have successfully jailbroken Electra you should see an alert telling you that "SSH is running enjoy!"

    (Note: The next step requires a pc but there is a way to do it with the phone itself but it is not recommended.)

    7) Download two programs on your computer: PuTTY and WinSCP. When you are done downloading and installing those, download Delectra and unzip it with winrar or 7zip. The file you are looking to extract is unjailbreak.sh

    8) Open WinSCP and type in your phones ip address on your wifi network. You can find this by going into Settings>WiFi then press the blue (i) icon on your connected network. Leave the port number as 22 and type in the username root and the password alpine on WinSCP.

    (Note: If the connection fails check to see if the username and password are correct/lowercase and that you have the correct ip, if that does not work. Reboot your phone and rejailbreak with tweaks off again.)

    9) When the connection is accepted and you are in, first we are going to uninstall cydia. There is an icon at the top of WinSCP that looks like the PuTTY logo. Click that and it should open a terminal window. Type the username and password you used to get into WinSCP.

    (Note: It may not show any letters in the text box but the letters are invisible, carefully type root press enter then alpine and press enter. It should then give you access it will look like this 192.168.1.x@root:)

    10) Time to uninstall cydia. Carefully type dpkg -P --force-depends cydia-lproj then press enter. Next dpkg -r cydia and press enter. Wait for it to be done uninstalling. Then simply type the command uicache.

    (Note: For the command uicache you must wait 30 seconds or so for it to finish, your phone may act frozen for that time but its just caching images. If cydia is off of your springboard you're good. If not you might have to reboot your phone and rejailbreak again with TWEAKS OFF for changes to take effect.)

    11) Next we are going to use the unjailbreak.sh file. Go back into WinSCP and navigate to the root of the device '/' then find the folder 'electra' and drag the file you extracted into that folder. When that is done return to your PuTTY prompt. If you have to regain access type the credentials again. In the PuTTY prompt send the command cd .. TWICE. After that type cd electra and press enter. Finally send the last command sh unjailbreak.sh press enter to confirm the unjailbreak process and wait for it to finish.

    (Note: After the unjailbreak.sh process is successful you will be unjailbroken and all electra files and cydia files should be cleaned and empty upon reboot. If cydia or any other jailbreak apps besides the electra app persist after countless reboots and prevent apps to work etc, rejailbreak/ssh and try again...)

    12) Congratulations you have successfully unjailbroken and removed everything like I have. Before anything else if you had the tvOS 11 profile make sure you remove that and the electra profile. The Final step is to make an iTunes encrypted backup before jumping to iOS 12, its easy and I have made this tutorial long enough so go ahead and do that. After that then update using iTunes connected to your PC via USB to prevent any problems with OTA. Once everything is complete and you have updated, check if everything works without problems. Change some settings if you have to but other than that, thats it!

    (Final Note: If you somehow notice some strange problems or issues try restoring fresh from the backup you made, if that does not work then I would suggest a clean start sorry about that.. Thank you for reading. If the mods have a problem with this post then feel free to delete it.)

    I'm coming to iPhone from windows phone, where apparently my carrier did not care if my phone was used as a hot spot, but now they do and I'm subject to a 10gb cap on an otherwise unlimited plan. I rely on my phone for internet, there is no real other option in my rural area. Is this something jail breaking can help with?

    ElectraRemover removes everything related to Electra (as I'm sure you're aware) but it keeps your repos (as long as you don't restore your device.

    However, the repos are empty at first. You might be tempted to remove them all and re-add them all. But don't! Without removing any of them, try to add just one of the sources you already have in Cydia, and it will automatically refill all of your repos! This saved me a lot of hassle manually adding them all back.

    ​

    Also, if you install your old tweaks, make sure you try and do so from the same repos as the first time around, as it will save your preferences for most of them. You'll be up and running in no time.

    Feel free to leave a comment or PM me for the method I used to get Electra working again, a lot of it is already on the sub (and I don't wanna force those who already have sorted it to read it all) but for those who haven't had any luck, there may be something you have missed :)

    A guy who thought using ElectraRemover would somehow fix the issues I was having with Electra a week ago, to no avail, so was left with no Jailbreak and no tweaks to return to when I re-Jailbroke finally instead of just checking r/Jailbreak to see if anyone else was having the same issue before hastily using the nuke button(i.e. an idiot).

    edit: also, for whatever reason, I've been unable to change my flair for a while now. Not a huge issue, but it would be nice to have it updated. iPhone 7 still but on iOS 11.3 B6.

    So I've listened to the feedback and here is what's new:

    ​

    1. Many of you use another 3rd party music player widget on the lockscreen and Apace can't thus be activated. I've shuffled around some code and implemented an Activator Listener for this, so now you can bind different things to make the Apace buttons appear (like tapping on the lockscreen clock or swiping in from the bottom).
    2. Someone wanted a way to speed up the hold gesture. You will now find that in the settings panel under Gestures.
    3. Better feedback when holding on a button when the hold to release setting was disabled.
    4. Other small improvements such as not being able to invoke the hold gesture on top of the menu and a @3x settings icon for you with a plus device.

    I recently made a copy of a game app on my phone so I could play 2 different accounts but I every time open either app it logs out of the account so I have to log in. Usually it keeps you logged in so you just turn on and play .

    I duplicated by using the payload method and changing plist options and installing a new Ipa

    Is there a fix or reason why it keeps logging me out ?

    I'm really not a fan of the lockscreen music player apple brought to us with iOS 11!

    With its tiny album art that you can hardly see! Here's a concept I made with my amazing photoshop skills ;) of what I think it should look like. So I really hope apple changes it in the future. But in the meantime has anyone made a Jailbreak tweak like this? Actually I don't think theres a jailbreak out yet for iOS 12 but when there is…

    Anyway what are you peoples thoughts on it?

    I´ve been an iOS user since the old iOS 4 days. However, I started installing iOS betas since iOS 7. Back in the iOS 7 days, I remember betas used to have a caducity date. When that day came, if you rebooted your phone, a blank page would come up saying "This beta has expired" and you´d have to restore your phone. However, I haven´t seen that in a while. My question is: is the "Theres a new iOS update. Please update your iOS xx beta" popup the new blank page? Or has Apple deleted the caducity date in the last few years? I want to keep my 6S running 12b1 to have a rare version on it, but idk if it will expire or not.
