    Note: I've redacted the name of the tool for now since I've heard it's against the rules to mention. The main reason I've heard is that it's been called a stolen product from Electra, which isn't true since Electra open-source. I've also heard that the developer created malware in the past so he shouldn't be trusted. I looked into this and found it to be a rumor that was likely not true. The developer gives credit to Coolstar in the credits. If I get permission from the mods to unredact, I will.

    I've been using _________ instead for about a month now and it takes 1-2 tries on average - max I've had is 4 tries. Overall, I've been very happy so I wanted to share how I did it if you're tired of how long Electra takes to rejailbreak.

    If before installing you'd like to get to know the developer, he's been responsive to me when I was trying to install. He also really doesn't like Coolstar and made _________ to sort of one up him I think.

    1. You can either Delectra/Rollectra your phone (keeping data is fine), or just install over Electra. If you choose the latter, note that I tried this the first time I installed _________. The consequence was that all of my tweaks worked fine, but Cydia showed nothing installed. The solution was to simply reinstall everything one by one - just make sure you have a detailed list of everything before installing _________. I recommend Rollectra though, with or without data, as it's cleaner.
    2. Get the latest version of _________ from _________ and install onto phone using Cydia Impactor, or you can download directly to your phone in Safari from the usual places.
    3. Run _________! No need to turn on airplane mode or kill all apps. If it doesn't work, your phone will autorestart, and you can try again. If it's working it will say "VFS Working..."
    4. Open Cydia. Ignore any updates for now.
    5. After everything has refreshed, go to the Sources tab, tap Edit, and delete all sources that Cydia allows you to delete (you'll get them back later, don't worry).
    6. Install this repo if it's missing: https://electrarepo64.coolstar.org/
    7. Search for and install "Substrate Compatibility Layer" if it's missing.
    8. Add back any sources you want and install all of your tweaks!

    I also recommend you search for and install "ReProvision". Later inside that app, set it to to auto sign _________ every X days. (If you installed using a developer account or the usual sources, you might have a 365 day license which means you probably don't need to worry about this step for a while.)

    Hello r/jailbreak.

    I am u/saj0vie, my old account will not let me post for some reason even though I can login.

    I over the past few weeks took some time to rewrite wifiFirmwareUpdater. Unfortunately however, I don't have a jailbroken test device, so chances are that I could have simple syntax errors because I'm not the most experienced programmer, even in a simple language like Bash. So I have to issue a disclaimer: There are no guarantees that this will work as is at the moment. If you use it, please send me error messages.

    This rewrite is not as good as the previous version unfortunately, in fact it's much more simple. Differences are:

    1. There is no launch daemon yet to run this on boot into jailbroken state. I need to insure it works first.
    2. There isn't a notification yet. Again, I won't add this until the script is free of errors (if there are any).

    I have intentions to do this:

    1. Make this more simple with an app to simply add the firmware files in through file upload.
    2. Have the script download the firmware files itself legally by using a tool called PartialZip. I first need to learn how to use it.

    I would greatly appreciate if someone wanted to help me do this.

    Right now, the tool also doesn't include the firmware files to begin with. That was illegal when I did that before as the files belonged to Apple and BroadCom.

I also don't have much time to maintain this even though it is relatively simple because my goals listed above are currently out of reach. Until I get a jailbroken test device, I will have to rely on you guys for help.

    Hello other team,

    When I picked my current phone (Nexus 5X) it was because as a Nexus, I was to expect fast software updates. (This didn't happen because of staged rollouts.) I thought I was buying something smaller than the phone before it, but it was actually larger because I looked at the screen size measurement online and then took a ruler to the body of my Samsung Galaxy S III. Now that my phone with 2gb ram just cannot keep up for my apps anymore, I am in the market to get something new.

    I checked phone arena and compared a bunch of models using the size compare tool. I found that the only 2018 phone that had a smaller body was the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact. This could be an acceptable choice for me, but you know, I don't like bloatware and I still need to research that aspect of Sony phones. I accidently noticed that the iPhone XS is actually smaller than my Nexus 5X and that's why I am here.

    I have recently and reluctantly gone from "never in a million years" to "I'll consider it" in regards to iOS. But there is one major issue...

    Is there a way to have different home screens? I hate the home screen on iOS. I have used Nova Launcher Prime since it released in 2011, and it is amazing. Super customizable without needing to use CSS, custom icons, has every feature that Google's stock launcher has ever had (both new and retired). Custom gestures, folders, shortcuts, widgets, you name it. And most importantly I never cover my wallpaper to the point I can't see it like iOS does, and instead I keep my icons framing the bottom of my screen - none on the top half.

    2nd: Android allows for multiple scheduled silent mode times. iOS just does one. I like having it silence itself for each of my classes, and work, and sleep.

    In short, what can I do with a Jailbroken iPhone?

    There is an additional question I forgot:

    Pokemon Go checks Android to see if it's rooted and then prevents you from playing because it assumes all rooted players are cheaters. Can they do that on iOS?

    [Discussion] Can we discuss how depending on PayPal is bad for the community?

    As a small / new developer at the tweak scene, i tought I could express my opinion about paypal:

    PayPal is a pain, and my experience with it (been a user for more than 2 years) is the worse possible.

    Today, it's the fifth time my PayPal account is simply blocked, for some reason they will not tell me (again).

    It is important to say that there is nothing wrong with the account setup - no false information, no pseudonym, absolutely not wrong.

    Why it happens? Probably because jailbreak. My account was banned today and, yesterday, I bought a tweak, as simple as that. For some disgusting reason, PayPal decided to block my account every time I buy something related to jailbreak, and only jailbreak, since I can use it for others things.

    This is probably a country related issue, but that's frustrating, since we have no alternative. My main complain is as a jailbreak USER, not as a developer because I never sold a tweak, but it also prevents me from a bunch of others things, like r/TweakBounty.

    I just wanted to discuss how paypal disappointed me, and how the community depends so much uppon it, to the point where I'm now unable to buy tweaks.

    If you enjoy a tweak and can afford to pay a coffe to the dev, i highly recommend you do so.

    [Help] Can't download, delete/remove apps nor re-enable jailbreak through Electra

    Started this weekend. Began not being able to update apps. Tried downloading some and gets stuck on the loading wheel; same when I tried removing some through settings. Had a sudden reboot, now Electra keeps displaying exploit error everytime; can't remove it also to try and download another, which I can't do either.
