What are the best survival games?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 05:28 AM PDT

Hi guys. I like to play post-apocalypse survival games(if there are zombies, even better). I dont like classic shooter games, for me it's more about surviving. I dont like having bunch of weapons to just shoot through the game.

I like Last day on Earth, Into the dead 1&2, Zombie Gunship, Fallout Shelter, Day R Survival..

Can you reccomend me something with similar "tone"?

With OSRS hot on our tales, I’d like to help some people out that will beginning with the Mobile Release!

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 05:25 PM PDT

Hi everyone, as most of you know, OSRS is slated to release globally on all platforms Oct 30. I've been playing Old School for about 7 years. The game can be quite intimidating for new players so i thought i'd lay out a useful guide and informative post to help the influx of new players!

Osrs has many many many skills, weapons, armors, quests, enemies, and locations to explore. This game can offer you potentially HUNDREDS of hours of gameplay, with each task, and goal being just ahead of you. That's some of the magic behind Old School. Every task, goal, and accomplishment you set out to achieve is rewarding. There's almost nothing in the game to do that doesn't offer some kind of accomplishment or reward.

One of the main conflicts for people regarding OSRS is the subscription based model. And while i agree it's not the most amazing thing, $11 a month is not a bad price for a game that gives me as much content as this. The main difference you'll notice with Old School free vs premium would have to be items, and locations. You can go far in OSRS with a free account, some skills, skilling methods, and locations (most locations) are not accessible by free players. However, as far as account progression goes, all the available skills to you can still be leveled. The methods for training will not be as proficient as some methods discovered in the bounds of premium. A lot of newer players make the mistake of upgrading to premium too early (the players that DO upgrade to premium that is, obviously a lot of players remain free to play) before their F2P skills are at a decent level. This leads to a lot of overwhelming possibilities once you're premium. So many skills to level, so many quests and quest items to obtain and areas to explore. It gets VERY overwhelming. I'd advise all new players who don't know exactly what they want their account to look like, to stay free to play until they're satisfied with their progress. A pretty good measure of this would be after the completion of the Dragon Slayer quest.

One of the best ways to make money early game is to cut wood logs and sell them on the Grand Exchange. The Grand Exchange is located in North West Varrock. It lets you take all tradable items and sell them to other players. You'll get familiar with it very quickly. Woodcutting and Firemaking are some of the easiest skills to level, but are both of the most useless skills when it comes to money making, and mechanical use in general.

(I understand that kinda goes against how i said to make money previously, but you won't want to continue cutting logs as a money making method once your account is more leveled.)

Ideally you'd want to cut logs until about 50k gold. This 50k will help tremendously as you decide to start investing in materials and tools to train other skills. You can also kill cows in the pens in Northeastern Lumbridge (all players begin in lumbridge after completing the tutorial.)

The next step is really dependent on you. At this point i'd start googling guides for skilling, and try to figure out which one works best for you. Consider the money needed, the potential profit, and the grind time for each skill. No one can really tell you what to level because each person has different preferences and interests when it comes to their accounts progress.

Also i'm running out of time so the last important tip i have for new players, would have to be google. Seriously. Google every single question you have. Google the uses and benefits for skills even if you don't intend to train them just yet. You'll be surprised how quickly information will transform your in game path. A good example of this is agility, a very time consuming and click intensive skill to train (also a members skill), but once you learn you can obtain the Graceful Outfit as you level up with agility, it makes the grind and payout a lot more beneficial then if it had no specific reward.

I'm very tired, and i'm aware i probably missed a ton of important details in this post, but if you have any questions feel free to leave them below and i'll try my best to answer you

-Dragalia Lost- Nintendo’s Action RPG =-100 Calorie Review!=-

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 02:04 AM PDT

    Download it here!

TLDR: Worth the download! PvE only currently, make sure you go to system: install all game files before leaving your WiFi else it downloads each map and story as you unlock them which is hundreds of megabytes over the first few hours.

Dragalia Lost is a fantasy action RPG that released at 11pm pst on Sep 26.

It features: * Diverse enemies with multiple elemental types and abilities including defenses and status inducing attacks * Small interesting maps with breakables, traps, terrain types and player driven events * 4 player COOP or 1 player solo with 4 total controllable characters + a helper * A genuine story with fantastic music and voice acting - Skippable dialogue with a well written synopsis * A castle(town building) feature with resources, buffs, story arcs and dragon bonding * An auto feature that i never once turned on. It doesnt smash breakables, use skills, switch characters or use ultimates. * A gacha feature for items/characters/dragons + more * Daily quests and events

Overall the game was fantastic. I played for about three hours before the stamina slowdown that accompanies all free to plays took effect. Early level ups and unlocks keep it going and the game gives you enough currency due to reaching 1million preregistered users to be able to do multiple 10x summons. The collect all feature for the castle was intuitive, the graphics were great, the maps fun and coop events pretty neat especially on boss fights when all players turn into dragons and the entire screen blows up.

The different voice acting and weapons/abilities of each character + dragon ultimates gives every character a unique feel. Switching characters is fluid and the drag/tap action combat honestly makes it so you can defeat stages where you are below the rec combat power. This game feels much more rewarding than the nominal turn based clones we've been getting and is a welcome addition to the App Store and my game library. Quality work from Nintendo.

It does not feature: * Guilds * PvP

I'd hope for those to be implemented in the future!

    PvE RTS?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 09:31 AM PDT

Looking for a RTS like C&C or Civ for my iphone. I'd rather NOT pay, but if it's a solid game that has some staying power I'm not totally opposed to spending a few dollars. I've searched but can only find dev promoted games and trash shilled games. I'd love some actual player recommended games. Thanks all!

As a little repayment just for reading, if you haven't tried Device 6 yet I HIGHLY recommend it. super fun, not terribly long, and rewarding.

What are the best ios games out right now?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 04:23 PM PDT

Played Old School RuneScape growing up, excited for it to be on mobile. Here's a few things in hope to get you all interested. AMA!

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 11:25 PM PDT

The game is free to play. I highly recommend you guys to start playing on the PC version just to get use to it. You can experience the game to a good amount just on free to play alone. There's over 30 quests you can do for free to play (hundreds more when you become a member) and there's quite a few skills such as mining, smithing, woodcutting, fishing, cooking, range, magic, melee, etc that you can do. The rest of the skills are limited to members only but you don't need those to enjoy it at the start! Yes, some areas are off limits but what is available will still be pretty big for newcomers.

The controls are very simple so you should have no problem transitioning to mobile (besides for harder tasks such as bosses). It's basically just a point and click kind of game so you really only need your mouse. There are guides for pretty much everything such as best training spots for certain skills and guides for quests. The subreddit is very active so go check that out as well! (r/2007scape).

People would be happy to know that you can buy membership with in game currency so you do not need to spend a single penny but of course it's advised to at least pay for one or two months of membership to grow your account in order to have reliable options to make enough money to buy bonds. Making money in free to play is hell. There's no quick and reliable way to make money and the methods that you may find googling, the spots are usually populated by bots. Bots aren't a problem in members world though so don't worry!

A membership bond costs 3-3.5 million gold and gives you 14 days of membership. That amount may seem intimidating at first but it's really not as much as you play the game. Every skill has a way of making money, some being better than others but that's how diverse the game is. My personal favorite way of making money was through a skill called "Slayer." For slayer, you are assigned a certain monster and a certain amount of that monster to be killed. Not only do you train the slayer skill (higher the level, the more difficult and rewarding monsters you can fight), you train your combat stats as well whether that be melee, range, or mage. Certain tasks are better off keeping your distance, such as dragons so range and magic will be better off for those and of course, certain tasks are better off using melee. It's a great way to make your character stronger AND make money! At higher levels, one slayer task can earn you over 1 million gold easily. Another fun aspect is a lot of monsters in slayer can drop something called "clue scrolls" which is basically a treasure hunt where you solve riddles, speak to specific people, dig a certain spot, etc. If you're lucky, the reward can be an INSANE amount.

For anyone that chooses to become a member right from the start, you should google "best quests to do for new OSRS members." You'll find a list of quests that gives exp to grow your account which saves a lot of time instead of grinding out those early levels. For example, a quest called "Waterfall" can be done on a fresh account (definitely follow a guide to avoid any issues as there's some dangerous parts in the quest) and does not require any fighting so stats do not matter. The reward boosts your strength and attack from level 1 all the way to 30 and your character level from 3 all the way to 22! Great jump start to the account.

There's also different types of accounts you can make:

-Regular (no limits, play the game normally) I recommend playing this to start off since it will be easier for most players. There's something called "The Grand Exchange (GE for short)" where you can type in an item to buy or sell. This avoids standing around typing and advertising whatever it may be. Need a certain piece of armor? Look it up in the GE and you've got it!

-Ironman (you are self-sufficient. You can't trade others and most find/make every item or gear that you may need. It's harder but a lot more rewarding knowing you achieved everything on your own.) I made an ironman account not too long after it was released and after I spent a good time on a regular account. It definitely revived my motivation to play the game at the time so I highly recommend giving it a shot at one point!

-Hardcore ironman (Same as ironman but if you die once, you lose the status of "hardcore" and just become a regular ironman but keep your items)

-Ultimate ironman (Same as ironman but if you die, you drop everything but they remain unseen to others for 1 hour + you can't access the bank/storage)

Crédit to /u/dreviore for the correction about ultimate ironman

-There's something called "Seasonal Deadman Mode" where xp rates are multiplied and people go around killing each other for their items. People who qualify for the mode can end up competing in the tournaments that they hold after a while for cash prizes

These are just some quick things that I feel like are important for people to know if they are still considering playing the game. I may have left things out so any comments to add onto this post will be welcome! If there are any questions you may have about the game, please ask away and I'll try my best to answer them!

    Have a good day/night everyone!

    West Legends - 3v3 MOBA

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 12:27 AM PDT

I was lurking through games to find something to spend my spare time on. First I was thinking of an RPG but it might take so much time and exploration and learning stuff to play, and it's quite boring for me at this age. Then my thoughts switched to strategies - the same problems occurred.

As a former active Dota 2 (though Dota takes more hours than any mobile game) player I thought "maybe try MOBA as well?" And started hunting down mobile MOBA games. I was OK with Mobile Legends but the lack of fog of war, wards and something more I don't even remember already make me uninstall the game. I saw and installed Heroes Evolved. It was the better version of Mobile Legends and I liked it a lot... for some time. It takes a lot, like A LOT of time to play this game to be at the top and increase your skills. Like Dota, you know. I couldn't afford playing that much.

Long story short, I found the game called West Legends that was in Beta by the time I installed it. I instantly liked the game because of the tempo - every match takes approximately 3 minutes. The heroes are simple and it's not P2W game at all (though there are chests in the shop). So I play it from time to time and genuinely like it.

Though there are more than 100k players it makes me sad that the community is still small. The channel /r/WestLegends/ is fresh though but there are hardly ever a 15 members as for now. I consider creating posts there and be active as hell because I like the game and want more players to see there, to play with or against (fight me!). I'd like to encounter more experienced rivals and have conversations with them on that /r/WestLegends/

Have anyone else tried the game? What are your thoughts?
