Magnetic USB-C Adapter - Turning USB-C into MagSafe quick release charger cable

When I got the new MacBook Pro obviously the biggest pain was the new USB-C port. Not only having to buy loads of adapters but also not having a magnetic head on the end was the thing I actually missed most. You forget how practical it was.

I had a hunt around and found a couple options on eBay/Amazon... however the connectors were only 3-6 pins, meaning power and functionality was restricted.

I then stumbled across one that had 20 pins connector meaning it did everything to the same speed and capacity as using the cable without the adapter.

    It's literally a GOD SEND!

Thought I'd share it on here incase anyone else is looking for one!

Is there a way to take specific files from a previous back up with time machine?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2018 02:14 PM PDT

My logic board on my 2011 took a crap the other day. Instead of putting $700 into a "vintage" machine, I just bought a new one instead. I have a back up on an external but the backup is 990gb. I only have 256 on the new machine. Is there any way I can just grab certain files that I want from the back up?

    Macbook freezing and restarting itself...

    Posted: 07 Sep 2018 08:26 PM PDT

Like the title says, have a new (less than a month old) macbook pro retina display 13" with touch bar that has on occasion (and seemingly more recently) starting freezing briefly then shutting down or restarting.

Has anyone else had these problems or know of a solution? Software and firmware have been fully updated and have had no other issues with device at all.

Any hints or tips anyone else has used to resolve this?

    cheers.

Is the Macbook Pro (2011) still worth it?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2018 05:52 PM PDT

    Hey guys.

A friend of mine is selling his MBP (Late 2011, 13", Core i7, 8GB RAM, 240GB SSD) for a very good price.

It is still worth it in 2018? I'm not a heavy user, it is just for internet browsing and a few Photoshop CC editing.

    Thanks!

MacBook constantly on sleep healthy or not?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2018 08:42 AM PDT

Hello everyone, I have a 2017 MacBook Air and I'm curious if constantly leaving it on sleep all day will effect anything on it? Not urgent or anything, just curious.

What we don't want to see: MacBook Air 11/12" with single USBC!

    Posted: 07 Sep 2018 07:58 AM PDT

The new Air should looks like the old 11" macbook air, with a 12" display instead of 11" but at least 2 thunderbolt 3 ports, better if 3 + audio jack (for me is not important, i prefer a tbt port instead of audio, but maybe for other user, this is why i write 3 tbt and not 4tbt). A mac with only 1 usbc (not even thunderbolt3) doesn't make any sense, you are not able to charge and use an usb stick at the same time, and you always need a usb c hub.

    https://www.apple.com/chde/mac/compare/results/?product1=macbook&product2=macbook-air-13

Air 11"/12" should be available with up to 512GB SSD optional, 16GB RAM optional

Max Price? Max Air cost 1640 chf, max 12" cost 1988 chf, so i think about 1900-2300chf, for base model look macrumors news (i don't remember since i'm not interested in base model macs).

if they decide to sell the new macbook air 11/12 with only an usb c port, i will skip it and i will keep my old good 11" air, or better i will buy an used 2015 11" air with better connection compared to 2010 model and more connection compared to 2018 model. I think other Pro User will do the same.
