Will updating my macOS slow down my Late 2013 MCP? Posted: 26 Sep 2018 02:17 PM PDT I know older iphones become very slow with the newer IOS versions and Im wondering if the same is true for macbook pros? It is currently running Yosemite 10.10.5 but I wouldn't mind some of the features of Sierra or higher. But will it slow the macbook down at all? I did try updating the OS a couple years ago but it would always fail during the download so I just gave up. Im tempted to try again if it wont degrade performance at all. I mostly use it for web browsing these days tbh though. [link] [comments]
My Late 2013 MacBook Pro is not unlocking with mat Apple Watch Series 4 Posted: 26 Sep 2018 06:55 PM PDT I am running watchOS 5 and I'm running macOS Mojave. This is my first Apple Watch, so I cannot speak to wether this is a Mojave issue, watchOS 5issue, or a series 4 issue, or if it is something wrong with either device. All I know is I have it set up, I'm updated, my Mac is supported, I'm using the same iCloud, passcode on watch, two-set authentication, etc and it's not working. The watch will be literally on top of the Mac and it will only delay at the log in screen and then the password entry box appear. It requires me to enter the password to the Mac when I turn it on the first time and has accompanying text stating that I have to do so because of the Apple Watch, etc., but still it isn't working for some reason. I've never got it to work. Not sure what to do at this point. I welcome any and all tips toward resolving this issue. Thanks! [link] [comments]
2012 MacBook Upgrade: SSD or SSHD? Posted: 26 Sep 2018 06:12 PM PDT I am about to purchase a mid 2012 MacBook (i7 8gb of ram) with the hopes of upgrading the storage. I'm not sure if I should get an SSD or an SSHD. I've heard that both greatly improve the speed of these older MacBooks but I'm wondering if there is a bigger difference between the two drives. I can get a lot more storage for a lower price with the SSHD but I also don't want my MacBook to be terribly slow? Does anyone have experience with upgrade an older MacBook who would be willing to help me out? [link] [comments]
Has anyone found a functional adblocker for Safari 12 yet? Posted: 26 Sep 2018 06:40 AM PDT The new Adblock Plus simply doesn't work. EDIT: This works, I'm dumb. https://safari-extensions.apple.com/details/?id=com.el1t.uBlock-3NU33NW2M3 [link] [comments]

Need Input Please - Need to replace mid-2012 MBP Battery and contemplating HDD to SSD swap Posted: 26 Sep 2018 10:32 AM PDT Battery is dead (barely holds a charge), and I need a new one. Seeking input on what battery you all suggest I pick up from Amazon. Also since I will have the machine open, I am looking at dropping the 500GB HDD and swapping out to a 1 or 2 TB SSD. I have been told that the Samsung EVO is the best on the market, but do not know if the cost is worth it by comparison to some other, less expensive brands. Thanks in advance for your suggestions, tips, sage words of advice, etc. [link] [comments]
What should I do with my Macbook Air in 2018? Posted: 26 Sep 2018 09:12 AM PDT So I just got a Macbook Air with the Core i5 as a gift. The box is still wrapped and I don't know if I should open it and start using it or sell it. Here's the thing, I'm currently using a decent asus laptop. My plan was to build a desktop PC and use the laptop for school and use the desktop for gaming. But, I also would like the advantage of having an apple laptop since I know that apple laptops are superior to windows ones. lol. But I can't also decide if I can just sell this and use on my gaming rig and just stick to my asus laptop for a few more years. Help me out here guys. thanks. [link] [comments]
Speakers are quiet on Brand new 2017 Macbook Pro 13 Inch Posted: 26 Sep 2018 07:19 AM PDT Not sure how much of an issue this is, but i have a brand new 2017 Mac Pro 13inch without the touchbar, not even 3 months old, sometimes when i put the volume all the way up, the actual sound is very quiet. Talked to my friend who works at the genius bar, he said this is a common issue in the new macs and i should take it to the store to have them look at it. Anyone have any fixs i can do at home, or should i go to the store? Thank you! [link] [comments]
