Reminders going off way too early

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 04:49 AM PDT

Have a user whose reminders go off much earlier that set, we're talking up to two weeks.

I ruled out time zone, but have checked iPhone, Office365 and Win10 PC.

The appointments/reminders are set to 15 min reminders, global time zone.

    Doesn't affect all appointments.

How do i sign out a device via internet?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 04:08 AM PDT

I'm currently using my backup Android for my phone. My iPhone screen broke last night and I have my iMessages on my iPad so I'm not getting anyone's text messages because they are going to my iPad at home while I'm working. Is there a way I can log in iCloud or something to remove my iPad while I'm using my Android temporary ly.

iCloud backup - for a friend

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 03:33 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

My friend is changing phones so backed up her iphone and photos to cloud etc. However, on the new phone they've only come over until March. She pays for 50gb storage so that shouldn't be the issue - what else can I troubleshoot for her?

    Thanks,

Big crash on iPhone XS Max

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 01:43 AM PDT

I've been using my iPhone XS Max for 5 days. Yesterday I picked it up and found it completely unresponsive. It had been sitting idle by the sofa for about 45 minutes with plenty of battery. The screen was off, did not come on when I touched it, it went straight to voicemail when I tried to call it and the power button was doing nothing.

A hard reset (volume up, down and long press of sleep/wake) brought up the apple logo and the phone restarted. Battery had dropped 10% during the time the phone had just been lying idle.

Has anyone else experienced this with their new device? Is this indicative of a software or hardware problem or is it impossible to say? What can cause these sort of events?

I use the phone for work, including on-call time so it's important the phone doesn't give up at random. Luckily this has only happened once so far, but still.

Thanks for any light you can shed or common experiences you can share!

Analytics (which I know nothing about) had a corresponding ResetCounter event:

    iCloud Messages don't download

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 07:42 AM PDT

So last night I updated my iPhone 6s and iPad Mini 2 from iOS 11.3.1 to iOS 12. Messages in iCloud are syncing properly between my Mac and the iPad, but not on the iPhone.

My iPhone had some issues restoring from the backup, so I went into DFU mode, reset the entire phone to factory and went to iOS 12. Set it up as a new phone, and away we go.

So while NEW messages seem to work the way they should (new messages show up everywhere, and if I delete them anywhere, they get deleted everywhere), older messages aren't there at all on my phone. My Mac and my iPad both went through the part where they said "Uploading Messages to iCloud" and "Downloading Messages from iCloud", but not my phone.

So far on my phone I've Reset Network Settings, done the double hard reset, turned Messages in iCloud on and off numerous times, signed out and back into iCloud... nothing.

Anyone have any insight? iOS doesn't have a "Sync Now" option like MacOS does, unfortunately, so I'm not sure if there is a way to force it to pull messages down.

Is the lightning bolt icon on the battery life graph supposed to indicate charging?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 10:52 PM PDT

I'm a bit confused with its purpose for two reasons. One, portions of the graph that show charging already get highlighted in green, why have an icon? And two, the lightning bolt icon only appears on the charging portion on the left of the graph but not the portions on the right in my screenshot below. What is the deciding factor for whether or not it shows up? Can someone help explain?

iOS 12 shortcuts: trying to create alarm shortcut, any way to pass variable to alarm time?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 03:50 AM PDT

Ok so I'm trying to create a shortcut that gets the current time, adds 2 hours, and sets an alarm for that time. However the only clock options I can get are "create alarm (for a pre-existing time)", "edit alarm (which has to be done manually, defeating the purpose)", and "enable/disable alarm".

So basically does anyone know how to pass a variable to the time set for the alarm, or some other way to achieve what I'm going for? I can do this with reminders but the reminder alert only sounds once, which I can easily sleep through.

    Emails not fetching on WiFi?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 07:01 AM PDT

I have had this issue since I got the phone. If I am connected to WiFi (especially at home where I have bad reception), I won't get email notifications. If I am strictly on data they come through just fine.

How do I fix this? Xs Max on iOS 12.

I just upgraded from iOS 8 to iOS 12 following a restore, now i'm stuck in "Approve this iPhone"

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 06:32 AM PDT

I just had to restore my iphone and I went from iOS8 to iOS12. I'm trying to get my iCloud working so I can get all my backed up contacts and other iCloud stuff.

But I'm stuck in the screen asking me to approve this iPhone. It says "Go to one of your other devices signed in to iCloud to approve this iPhone"

But I don't have any other device signed on to iCloud. From what I've read there's no way to approve the device from iCloud on PC. And apart from having another idevice there's no way to approve my account. Honestly, I don't think Apple is stupid enough to create a system this broken. How about everyone else that restored their phone, are they stuck with losing their iCloud data as well if they don't have another apple device?

    Disabling Airdrop under share

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 06:26 AM PDT

    Hi all,

Noticed on iOS 12 - when one tries to share a photo there will be an additional airdrop feature, picture as attached.

    Airdrop

As you can see it scanned and found two phones, is there a way to totally disable this?

I've tried setting Airdrop: receiving to OFF but nada. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Introducing Roblock, a brand new Robocall Blocker. First one to fully integrate iOS 12 unwanted calls reporting mechanism.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 02:34 AM PDT

We have been working hard in the recent months to release our brand new call blocker app. Currently we have around 300,000 US unwanted numbers on our blocking list! With the latest release we have also integrate iOS 12 reporting mechanism (for calls and SMS) so it's easier than ever to report any unwanted communication directly from Messages app or Phone app.

    Download link: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1436433275

    Questions

Why you build it? There's already so many call blocker apps.

While there are many call blockers apps on the App Store (some of which are great) we believe we could create a better solution, here is why:

    1. Some of those apps doesn't work so well - crashing, doesn't load all numbers etc. Technically we believed we know how to make this better.
    2. Privacy, Some of those apps upload user contacts to servers in order to create caller id identification also some ask for the user phone number and other private data. We believe this is unnecessary to create a great call blocker. For example, we are whitelisting all contacts on device and never send this data outside your device.
    3. Some of the most successful call blocking apps are sometimes provided by carriers which we believe not always want to take the best action against robocalls.
    4. Global solution, We haven't found any app which works outside the US and Canada.
    5. The pricing of the service is pretty absurd. We believe that at least some of the solution could come free, also we believe that we could cut at least half the price of what is offered today.

I'm using another call blocker app, Could I still use your app?

On iOS you could use multiple apps as your call blocker, This would give you the option to select which one is better for you (when a call is blocked you would see the name of the app that blocked the call), for the other mechanisms (reporting), we haven't found any app that have integrated iOS 12 features already (and only a single app allowed) so there shouldn't be any issues.

    How much does it cost?

Basic features that could help you estimate the app value are free, up to date blocking list requires subscription (7 days free trial is offered):

    1. Number lookup - You can check if any number is on our blocking list, if it is you would probably won't have calls from this number.
    2. Number reporting - You could report any number (not just US ones) so we would know to check it and add this number to our list after validation. You can report from the app itself or by enabling SMS/Call reporting from Settings > Phone > SMS/Call Reporting. Reporting for "Block" would block this number on your device immediately.
    3. SMS Filtering (optional) - You can use the app to block unwanted SMS by content, This would do some check on device but may send the SMS content to our server for analysing (only in the case that the number is not in your contact list and there was no clear indication with on-device processing). This feature is optional.
    4. Download our up-to-date blocking list - This feature requires subscription, currently we offer 7 days free trial so you could try the app and decide whether it works for you. After those 7 days this access starts with $0.99 per month (depend on local currency), which we believe is the minimum we could offer for that kind of service (we have no ads and would never sell user data).

    Does it have ads?

    No, no ads anywhere.

    Available everywhere?

Yes, It's an international app. Note to that we are currently support mostly English and most of the spam numbers are from the US, we hope that would grow with app adoption.

What do you plan next for the app?

We have lots of plans for this app and we won't stop till we stop those robocalls for all our users. We are open for features suggestions, so if there is anything you find missing please let us know.

How to Disable iCloud Photo linking?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 05:54 AM PDT

I have an iPhone XS with iOS 12. In the photos app, I selected 5 photos and clicked on the Messages icon to send them to someone. In iOS 11 this would send the photos as separate photos through text or iMessage. For whatever reason, the photos were combined into some sort of iCloud link available for a month. How can I disable this? Thanks!
