Dropbox is now sending sales pitches via macOS Notification Center.

    Really Dropbox?

Nowhere in their notification preferences [in either web or app prefs] exists an option to opt out of promotional offers. Grrr.

Specifically, he focuses on camera, the new LTE radio, and more, but he actually shows the differences as they matter to you, rather than just reciting from a spec sheet.

Apple's Abandonware: As of today, it has been ten years since the last update to the Photo Booth effects panel, despite the introduction of Animoji and Memoji on the iPhone. What's to come of this infamous corner of OSX?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 11:11 PM PDT

In 2005, I loved using photo booth-- who didn't? Those kooky effects-- Yosemite, Hologram, the Rollercoaster... and of course the face distortions... they really came into their own with Snapchat and later instagram. In 2008, apple updated the effects with face-tracking filters.

Now Animojis and Memojis exist. Still, photo booth... stays the same as it was in 2008. I get it's a just-for-fun feature, but you'd think there'd be some new functionality there when it is a decade behind the iPhone filters... I'm not saying I require your strongest potions, but I thought we'd see something new.

iOS 12 fixed my Touch ID

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 07:25 PM PDT

I just wanted to say that my TouchID for my 6s stopped working a while back, but after checking a few weeks after I installed iOS 12, my TouchID is back to working! Thanks apple!

PSA: If you force press on a Google search result, it will take you to the actual website instead of the crappy AMP version.

All my email apps are being discontinued

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 07:02 PM PDT

I was using Inbox for a long time now and my email app. I liked the way I sorted my mail. When Google announced they are discontinuing Inbox. I went looking for an alternative and found Astro. It really looked promising. Fast forward to now, and Astro is being discontinued 😓. Now I'm back to the search...

    Apple Watch, Apple TV tip

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 06:31 PM PDT

Just though I'd share, using the remote app on the watch is quite convenient. Just got my series 4 today and this feature has been great, don't gotta go looking for the remote.

In reality it's a remote on your wrist and who doesn't want that.

NYC Subway riding iPhone users on AT&T: Do you get zombie 4G connections every time you connect at a new station?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 03:04 PM PDT

Almost every time the train reaches a new station my phone connects to the "4G" network instead of the "LTE." But if you toggle airplane mode it will connect right to LTE. Also many times the "4G" doesn't even provide internet connectivity. Anybody else experience this? Is there a fix or workaround? Is this AT&T trying to control the traffic in their network? Does this happen on other carriers? Will our heroes escape? Find out next time.

Is anyone else annoyed about the relocated numbers/symbols button on iOS 12 keyboard?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 03:23 AM PDT

After I updated my iPad to iOS 12, the ".?123" button which used to be in the lower left corner is replaced by the emoticons button and moved to the right. Now I'm constantly selecting the wrong button because of muscle memory. I see no reason why they should've been relocated. And I assume they gave us no option to return to the previous layout.

On the other hand, I love the new option to move the cursor with the spacebar (which Android's Gboard introduced a long time ago).

Apple saddle brown case iPhone 7 Plus compared to iPhone Xs max

    Posted: 25 Sep 2018 12:53 PM PDT

Here is my iPhone 7 Plus case that is about 2 years old and is worn, compared to a new case for size comparison if anyone was wondering. Now I have to age my new case (sigh)
