iCloud or OneDrive for iPad storage Posted: 08 Aug 2018 02:36 AM PDT Hello, I´m getting a new iPad 2018 32 GB. I will be storing some documents, PDF and other files in cloud storage and don´t know if I should renew my Office 365 subscription or go over to iCloud. I need these files easily accessible from my Mac and I´m very happy with the web interface for OneDrive. Never tried iCloud on Mac. Is there a big advantage using iCloud on the iPad compared to OneDrive? [link] [comments]
Best workflow for reading PDF and taking notes? Posted: 08 Aug 2018 12:51 PM PDT I have to read a lot of PDF articles. I'm looking for the best app/workflow for reading as well as highlight/take notes on the article. I already own Goodnotes and PDF Expert and an Apple pencil. Just not sure which way is the better way to go. Ideally I'd like to be able to read/highlight/make notations as I read. Have an area maybe at the end of each article so I can summarize my thoughts. And have it all be searchable. Any thoughts? I've never imported a PDF into Goodnotes but I've heard that I can do that. When imported, do the words in the PDF become searchable as well? Posted: 08 Aug 2018 08:20 AM PDT Spent a good amount of time trying to find one on amazon, but no luck. I know there are cases that are smart cover compatible and have an apple pencil holder, but since my apple pencil will have a sleeve and a tip attachment, it wont fit in those cases. Im looking for something similar to a fabric loop which would be able to fit a pencil with a little more size to it. [link] [comments]
Apple Pencil as a fidget accessory/toy Posted: 08 Aug 2018 05:38 AM PDT I'm a developer who's had to purchase an Apple Pencil to ensure that my app plays well with it; beyond that, however, I haven't found much use for the pencil and it just sits on my desk, as I don't do much drawing or note-taking on my iPad. One thing I've found myself doing recently is fidgeting with it while getting work done or thinking. I can't explain (and don't know anything about) the psychology behind how it works, but I personally somehow find it helps. Also, the Apple Pencil is great for pen spinning—its weight is beautifully balanced and it just feels perfect in the hand. Still feels pretty dumb to essentially have a hundred dollar fidget spinner though, when I do think about it. Just an interesting thing I found myself doing I thought to share with you guys. :) Oh and if anyone has recommendations for how to get more out of the Apple Pencil outside of note-taking or drawing, I'd be happy to learn how you're using yours! Posted: 08 Aug 2018 08:51 AM PDT Just curious why the stock iOS apps are always replaced by paid apps that seem to do exactly the same thing. Enlighten me! [link] [comments]
WiFi keeps stopping after latest update Posted: 07 Aug 2018 03:59 PM PDT As per the title, I connect to my home router (using 5g) but when browsing the internet it'll suddenly stop working until I switch off WiFi on the iPad and switch it back on again. It was fine before the upgrade. I've tried a hard shutdown. I've also tried forgetting the network and re-entering the password to get back onto it. All to no avail. Anyone got any ideas. Posted: 07 Aug 2018 11:47 PM PDT So basically I'm in a jiffy trying to decide over the 2018 iPad, with its fancy a10 fusion vs the iPad Pro 1st gen with its fancy speakers and display and not so fancy A9X chip. My main question was is the iPad Pro from 2016 (the 9.7 inch) a good value for money in 2018 as it's about the same price as the new 2018 iPad just released. A 128gb iPad Pro 1st gen is equal in price to a 32gb 2018 iPad. Plus, if you look hard enough on the used market you can find great combo deal with the Pencil and apple keyboard under 500$. This'll be a good post for those contemplating a new iPad purchase but not sure which is better in terms of speed, future-proofing, as well as display, speaker quality etc.. basically the whole sha'bang. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Aug 2018 08:13 AM PDT Hey everyone, As the title suggests, I spent 2015-2018 using my 9.7-inch iPad Pro to plan, write, record and edit a narrative podcast series – kind of a crossover between a Serial-style murder investigation, a radio drama and an audiobook. I started things on iPad to keep the project separate from my work laptop but was – frankly – pretty blown away by what this little thing can do. So, in the end, I ended up making pretty much the whole shebang on there (save for some very final volume levelling that I hired a sound technician from Fiverr to do). I know this sub gets a lot of questions about workflows and recommended apps. As such, if anyone's interested, I'm making this post to...
So with that in mind, please... AMA! --- The Elevator pitch the podcast: UN/RESOLVED is a unique, two-sided crime podcast experience for fans of murder investigations like Serial; gripping audiobooks; and deep, intertwining mysteries. iTunes // Acast // Stitcher // Podbean // Pocket Casts // Website [link] [comments]
iPad Fourth Generation + grad school! Posted: 07 Aug 2018 09:18 PM PDT Hi, all, I just got an iPad 4th generation and would like to use it to take notes with a stylus. I am aware that it is not compatible with the Apple Pencil, unfortunately, but as I am in grad school I am trying to cut down on spending and use the resources I have. I was wondering if you had any ideas for styluses that I could use on an iPad 4th generation. I have Notability and OneNote already; these apps will be sufficient for my notes. Thank you for reading and your help! [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 07:18 PM PDT I have been staying current with several iPad Pro leaks for this September, but haven't heard anything about the camera. Has anyone read any rumors or leaks? Curious if they will adopt a dual lens / portrait mode. [link] [comments]

Is the iPad pro less useful when you are not a student? How do you use it? Posted: 07 Aug 2018 02:35 AM PDT I always hear people say how awesome an iPad pro is for jotting notes at the college but how about working guys? Do you still use your iPad or Pro as often? [link] [comments]
College students with 2018 iPad 32gb Posted: 07 Aug 2018 04:46 AM PDT I wanted to find out from fellow college iPad owners that use iPad for note taking ,browsing and a few games if the 2018 32gb is enough. I bought this a month ago (can't return) and I wanted to find out if using this with a MacBook Pro 128gb with 50 cloud storage will be enough for me. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Aug 2018 02:08 PM PDT So, i'm thinking about getting a iPad, but since it's only for light browsing and reading comics/ebooks, i thought why not get the Air2. Does is still hold up, or is it really worth dropping an extra 200€ on the 2018 model? [link] [comments]
Opening Numbers 4.1 collaboration docs in Numbers 3.2? Posted: 07 Aug 2018 10:15 AM PDT So not expecting any miracles but I figured I'd try. I have an old iPad 4 here at work which seems to be maxed out with iOS 10 and Numbers 3.2. We do a lot of colab. docs and was wondering if anyone had any luck getting this machine to work with the current Numbers software. Expecting it to be a brick but hey, fingers crossed. Just for and FYI, I can open the newer docs in the 3.2 app, but I am unable to edit anything. Thanks in advance for any tips/tricks. [link] [comments]
Picture in picture not working? Posted: 07 Aug 2018 09:08 AM PDT I recently bought my first iPad since the iPad 2. I love the multitasking you can do with it these days. And I've read a lot about the picture in picture for netflix or YouTube. While the other multitasking features like split screen work, picture in picture doesn't. I don't see the button for it in either Netflix, YouTube or the built in video player. I used to have this device on 11.4, today I updated to the 12 public beta 5 and I still can't use PIP. What am I doing wrong? I've googled myself half silly over this issue and can't find any posts anywhere. Edit: for some reason it just started working. Weird. But it's great anyway! Can I buy a verizon ipad and use it without a sim Posted: 07 Aug 2018 08:41 AM PDT I want to buy an ipad pro (used) and the verizon one is cheaper but will it make me activate it like on an iphone? Or can I use it without a sim and just on wifi. [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 08:18 AM PDT I just got my new iPad Pro 12.9 inch the other day and I feel like the battery has not been reliable at all. I plugged it in at 6pm last night and this morning at around noon I unplugged at full battery to use it. During the 5 hours of use (used you tube, Reddit and messenger on 2/3 brightness) it dropped to 33%,which is not what it is advertised to be. Is the battery in the iPad I got not built properly? I didn't get Apple care because buying this with the pencil made me broke so I'm worried it'll cost me. [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 09:09 PM PDT seems apples smart keyboards are not sold for this ipad, i was wondering your favourites. an ideal solution would be one that can combine with the smart cover, but still physically connect to the ipad somehow. (obviously still bluetooth not smart connector) [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Aug 2018 11:01 AM PDT Maybe you guys are a little biased so I'm also gonna post this in /r/samsung... I'm looking for a tablet device as my main device. I do have a Windows laptop from my work, as extra device. I want to use my tablet for browsing, entertainment, taking notes and a little typing/writing. I'm considering the iPad 2018, iPad Pro 10.5" and the Galaxy Tab S4. I'll explain my considerations:
Last thing: I never owned an Apple device. I've had a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4" and currently own a Galaxy S8 phone. What would you advise? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
