PC vs iPhone 6s comparison. PC on top. Really excited with what Unity can do on midrange mobile these days.

    [LF] Castle of the Winds

    Posted: 04 Aug 2018 10:12 AM PDT

    Hello!

Wondering if anyone had done a port of an old Windows 3.11 game called Castle of the Winds, or knew of something similar?

It was more of a long-term rogue-like, simple graphical interface, 4 main stats and the ability to build your hero however you like through stat allocation and learning spells and such.

    Thanks!

Looking for ww2 war planes game

Currently playing War Wings, but it feels p2w and lacks in game modes. What other ww2 war plane games you can suggest?

Games like Clash Royale, Tower Duel, Super Senso, Titanfall Assault...

    Posted: 03 Aug 2018 09:06 PM PDT

I've become really addicted to these bite-sized, freemium PvP games. Genre doesn't matter a ton, although I prefer something that can vaguely be called strategy, TBS, tower defense, etc.

Clash Royale is by far the most popular example of what I'm looking for. I want to build squads/decks of cards, play PvP matches to unlock new cards and upgrade existing ones, join clans (preferably with card trading, clan v. clan battles, or some other feature to make them more than just a social thing). Free or dirt cheap is basically required right now, I can't afford to drop double digits on a mobile game no matter how much it's worth the cost. Most games of this type are freemium, but something not TOO greedy is preferred - as a reasonably skilled f2per I would like to be able to advance, and good matchmaking to keep competition fair is a plus.

My biggest pet peeve is games that lock you out of ALL meaningful progression based on timers. E.g., Tower Duel - I love the gameplay but if your top row (free chest / first win chest / earn X fans chests) are all stuck on long cooldowns, and your four chest slots are full, you gain basically nothing by playing (you can still rank up, which is actually a bad thing since you're not progressing towers/units, and you earn a tiny bit of gold but so far gold is a joke and not even CLOSE to a limiting resource). So your options are to pump a LOT of money to keep playing (seriously, it's like $0.50 worth of IAP currency per chest you open early, which lets you play another 2-5 minute match before needing to feed it more cash).

Games with multiple modes - some form of PvE, frequent special events, 2v2/3v3/etc., draft modes - strongly preferred.

Basically, I'm looking for more games that scratch that CR-style itch and are actually worth the time investment. There are a bajillion CR knockoffs, but most of them have terrible balance, badly thought out / greedy IAP-heavy progression, dead or dying communities, or some combination thereof. I'm looking for ones that avoid these pitfalls and provide a decent community and fun bite-sized gameplay and SOME progression incentives to keep playing more than a few matches at a time. I can live with a chest system that severely reduces rewards until you pay-or-wait for open slots, as long as there's some non-trivial benefit to the continued grind.

I'm also starting to explore mobile MOBAs, which seem to fulfill a lot of these requirements, but frankly, I have a PC and DOTA exists. I know the mobile versions tend to be quicker, with more progression mechanics, and slightly less toxic communities, but I prefer CR type games that differentiate themselves from established PC games well. Plus, I want meaningful non-cosmetic progression (i.e., my dudes get stronger), which is hard to do in a MOBA without ruining balance.

TL;DR: looking for games with Clash Royale-like progression mechanics and bite-sized PvP with decent communities, and decent f2p/minimal spender experiences.

What do you guys think of Arena of Valor, Onmyoji Arena and Warsong?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2018 06:10 PM PDT

These joystick mobile mobas are the ones I'm really interested in right now. I'd like to hear opinions about them just so I can open perspectives for myself and finally get to choose which of these I really want to invest in.

    Here are my own thoughts:

Arena of Valor - I like AoV because AFAIK its the most popular one. Also, because its backed up by Tencent, it wont be treated as a joke. - I dont exactly hate the arcana/rune system, but I dont like it. I enjoy trying out different champions but this game makes it hard for me to do so as a F2P. - Earning gold takes A LOT of time and that gold should be spent on arcana instead. - It's what I'm currently focusing on cause I'm enjoying one champion's gameplay (Diao Chan).

Onmyoji Arena - There are a lot of things that I love about this game. First of all, the graphics, the art, the aesthetics ARE PERFECT. I am a big fan of Ancient Japanese culture and this game captures that time period precisely. The whole game is so satisfyingly cohesive, there's this "vibe" you feel about everything. - The rune system called "onmyodo" comes as a full package as well. You don't have to buy any upgrades, they come for free and it's you who decides how you upgrade yourself. Major plus points for me. - The only thing that's keeping me from being addicted to it is that there isn't a champion that I'm enjoying yet.

Warsong - Haven't played it yet but the graphics are fantastic. Would love to hear from you guys!

    Thanks for reading!

So yeah I really don't have a lot to do and am looking for a good offline game to play on my 7 plus.

A good action, rpg or strategy game would be nice.
