| Posted: 26 Jul 2018 08:35 AM PDT A little background: I was morally opposed to music streaming services before Apple Music. I wanted to support artists by buying albums. Then I realized artists make jack shit off record sales and all that money goes to the labels. I believe and hope that soon artists can be truly independent and rely on streaming services to sell their music. I support AM bc they support and believe in music as an art form, which is evident by the fact that it's not a major money maker for them. I love the exclusive interviews and documentaries by artists when they drop a new album. And bc I've been a heavy iTunes user for so long, it knows my music tastes to a T. All I have to say to Siri is "play something I like" and every time I smile when the first song plays. For me, the algorithm is perfect. I've tried Spotify, Pandora, and Google Play music and none of them get me. They think that just because I like a few songs by Nicki Minaj that I must like Cardi B and Iggy Azaelea, or they'll tell me that since I love P!nk I must like Rihanna and Jessie J even though I've never listened to Jessie J and I only like maybe 2 songs by Rihanna. And they're nothing like P!nk! Like at all lol. So for these reasons I much prefer AM. It just gets me. And maybe that's cuz I've used iTunes for so long, but I'd had nothing but android phones up until my iPhone 7 so I was always using Play Music, and it never understood me. (Its interface was terrible to boot.) Another key point on how I consume music is I listen to what I already like. I'm not interested in new or different music, and if I ever am I specifically search for the artist/album. The For You tab is always curated with things I listen to regularly. It'll remind me of albums I loved five years ago but totally forgot about. It'll suggest the right thing for me to listen to every time. It rarely presents me with something I couldn't care less about. And the Favorites Mix is almost always spot-on; I rarely have to skip a track and it doesn't shove a bunch of new music down my throat. Instead it presents a cohesive playlist of the same type of songs, and it's so accurate that sometimes I wonder just how much user data they have stored on my little nook of their servers lol. Idk I'm just infatuated with Apple Music and I love how well it knows me. Am I the only one?? Sometimes it seems like it. Everyone I know, including my fiancé, bitches about the interface and how it never plays what they want. | PSA don't carry a large Apple Pay balance Posted: 25 Jul 2018 04:27 PM PDT Learn from my mistake don't carry a big balance on Apple pay cash. Long story short I lent someone money and they decided to pay me back thru Apple pay. I accepted it and unknowing to me a few days later they disputed the charge with their bank. I used Apple pay for purchases and big stuff etc or cover tabs for friends then theyd pay me back so I ended up having like 3k in a balance there. Now here's the fun part. After that asshole decided to double dip on his account and Apple pay got the dispute the decided to LOCK MY ACCOUNT WITH MY ENTIRE BALANCE. After being bounced around I was told that it's not Apple that handles the transactions. It's not even Discover it's actually fucking Greendot!! Explained to them the situation and they basically tell me that I need to get a letter from the person's bank saying they're withdrawing the dispute. So I need to get persons A bank info and five it over to Person C. While me bieng person B just standing there slack jawed with my dick in my hand wondering wtf. That is the most absurd thing I ever heard. And it gets better. They said even once it's been resolved I have to wait 120 days for them to review my account and decide if they want to keep me doing business with them or not. If they decide not to want my business will they close my account and give me my balance? Of course not it's Greendot They will close my account and send over the balance to the state controller. I've emailed the CEO trying to figure out what to do. Luckily the greendot corporate offices are 12 miles away from me in Pasadena CA. So please be careful! I'm pretty much fucked out of 3k unless I beat it out of the person trying to defraud their bank but then again if they're trying to defraud a bank for 200 bucks odds are they won't hahe 3k for me to beat out of them. I'm considering buying one of Apple's leather cases (Saddle Brown). I've seen some posts on here and really like how the leather cases will patina over time. | Maddening old Group Text still haunts me. Posted: 26 Jul 2018 04:46 AM PDT So I belonged to a group text a year ago between me and two other people. All three of us had iMessage. I've since deleted this text because "leave this conversation" was greyed out. I've also removed one of the contacts. Yet whenever I go to type a new text, or share something, this old group message keeps popping up as a suggestion to haunt me. Here's what I've done to try to get rid of it. 1: Moved my contacts off iCloud to my Google Account and disabled contacts in iCloud. 2: Deleted all contacts involved in the old text and re-added the ones I needed as new contacts. 3: Deleted message data from iCloud. 4: Reset phone as new device. The second I signed back into my iCloud account, it was back again. 5: Researched. Found several websites to click the "I" to remove it. There is no "i". 6: Disabled iMessage and iMessage in iCloud. Still shows up. 7: Contacted Apple Support. Even their Senior Advisor is stumped and promised to research. Said this has never happened before. I know this is something in my iCloud/iMessage account, but I can't seem to delete or reset it. Are there any similar situations out there, and what can I do short of getting a completely new iCloud account (which I don't want to do because I have a decade of app purchases on this account)? There has to be a way to purge this. Edit: A friend who was also in this group chat deleted it recently, and it no longer shows up as a suggestion for him. This is really maddening. I read that iPhone models that have AE (MQAC2AE/A this is my model) to their model number are restricted of using Facetime due to laws in Arabic countries. The problem is that i bought this phone in Europe, and I'm using it in Albania specifically with an Albanian sim card, is there a solution to have Facetime on my phone ? | AUDIO IC problem with the iPhone 7 Posted: 26 Jul 2018 04:10 AM PDT Hey guys, I rarely post on reddit but I feel like this would help a lot of people. I should be throwing this on iPhoneHelp, but the information is so juicy. So recently I had an iPhone 7 and the microphone, ear piece, and speaker were not functioning. I did my research and it turns out the audio chip in my phone became loose or wasn't sauntered properly. I knew this wasn't my fault and did some research. Apple apparently did do a repair program about a month ago in June but stopped due to the high number of cases, SO now they make customers pay around $300 per phone with this issue. Kind of ridiculous right? So I was able to work around the $300 by these steps, YOU CAN TOO!!:

| Need App Recommendation - Alarm Clock Posted: 26 Jul 2018 04:46 AM PDT Long story short, I bought my first iPhone after nearly 9-yrs on Android. My major frustration is with the Apple Alarm Clock. I have my alarm set to repeat M-F at 5:30am. Some days, I naturally wake up before the alarm goes off and to avoid the alarm going off and waking my wife or kids, I turn the alarm off. Then, later that night, if I forget to turn the alarm back on, the alarm doesn't go off the next day... such as what happened this morning and I started my day 30-min behind schedule. The Google Alarm Clock has a feature that you can snooze your alarm. For example, if I wake up at 5:20am (10-min before the alarm is set to go off), I can basically dismiss the alarm clock without actually turning it off. That way, it won't sound the alarm that day, but will automatically still be set for the next day. A similar feature to what I'm looking for is how you can turn off WiFi or Bluetooth "Until Tomorrow". Is there an app that exists that behaves similar to the Google Alarm Clock and provides the ability to snooze alarms without turning off the repeating alarm? [link] [comments]  | ||

Someone I know who I have not given my new number to has been texting me on this phone and denies anyone gave them my new number. I don't recall what iCloud ID I used on my old phone, but I think i set up a new iCloud ID (let's say blank@gmail.com) for my new phone. Currently my iPhone 6 is backing up through iCloud (I haven't backed it up in 155 weeks) and it's taking an extremely long time. It's more than halfway done but I started backing it up about 13 hours ago. The iPhone 6 is a 64gb and I used 61gb so maybe the amount of data is the cause for the slow backup speed. I was wondering if it will take just as long to restore the iPhone 8 through iCloud once the iPhone 6 is done backing up? And would it be better to just back it up and restore through itunes? | Help what do I do with rain water in iPhone 7 plus? Posted: 25 Jul 2018 10:47 PM PDT I attended a concert today and while walking to the venue it was pouring rain. My phone was working fine, and I put in my windbreaker pocket. As we finally got into the venue, was using my phone fine. As I sat down for the concert, snapped a pic on insta and snap and then my phone suddenly turned off and kept opening with the apple logo and closing. That was at 7pm EST. It's now almost 2am EST and my phone turned on once around 12:30am. I was able to use it for a bit with the touch screen not working so well and the home button not working at all. It then shut off again and continued showing the apple logo then turning off. I assume the grey/darker part is water inside the phone. It is centered in the phone along the port. I put the phone in rice, but was reading that sometimes it may not help, and the water sat there for a good 6 hours since I was at a concert. Is the best plan of action then to goto apple or an iPhone repair shop and just hope for the best? Does anyone know any other DIY hacks to fix this water issue? Or how much it may cost for someone to fix it? Like does someone just need to open the phone and maybe dry off whatever is wet? I know if the water persists, it could mean the inside wiring of the phone could be damaged :(. I'm so sad this happened, and can't believe this happened when my phone wasn't even submerged in water. | Iphone 6 passcode bypass using touch id Posted: 26 Jul 2018 08:17 AM PDT My teenage sister changed her passcode and forgot. Until today she was using her finger to unlock the device and now after reboot it demands passcode. Is there anything I can do considering I own the phone and have all other passwords for itunes, finger mail etc? There is no more option of trying the code cause it is saying iphone locked connect to iTunes. We're on summer vacation now. Will I be able to do sth if I connect it to my iTunes home? When i browse through the albums from my car radio, it shows up, but eminem won't show up in artists, it doesn't matter what radio, and if it's via bluetooth or usb. This was simply because I wasn't that into Face ID and figured I might as well just save that little bit off my monthly payment. However, looking back I am starting to wish that I got the X.
