    To keep a long story short, my good friend was recently assaulted by a road-raging driver. After the altercation my buddy was all bloodied up and managed to pull his phone out just in time as the driver was speeding away. He grabbed a quick picture that ended up being blurry and for days didn't realize it was a Live Photo until he sent it to me. After a couple of replays we were able to clearly get the license plate # and detectives are on the case to bring the POS down.

    Moral of the story: Live Photos aren't as pointless as I thought

    I realize now superb iOS is. Apps are completely optimized, Spotify app is so user friendly, gestures work awesome, Airplay is the best invention ever, syncing my music through iPhone is blazing fast and so many more things!

    What apps do you recommend me, my last iPhone was the 4s. I found out about Narwahl. It's as good as Boost for Reddit. What other apps are a must have? I don't see many app recommendations threads or subs.

    I am very happy that Apple has provided us with an option to have widgets displayed on Lockscreen & In Homescreen. However, I feel the widgets really need an overhaul on how they're displayed. Scrolling through 7 widgets in line seems a bit clunky. I'm not sure whether it's the opacity of the widgets that make it look that way. Something like these concept would certainly be welcomed:

    Can you use a Lightning to USB/SD to transfer photos FROM an iPad/iPhone ?

    Hi all, my dad just told me about a lady he saw using this cable :

    He asked her about it and she seemed to have said that she can basically dump her iPad's picture onto an SD card using this cable.

    But from the look of it, it seems that it's literally a reader, to read your photos.

    Did my dad simply misunderstand what this lady said ?

    (iPhone 6) I'm having trouble backing up my phone to my PC via iTunes

    So I tried to backup my dying phone as the title suggests via the backup feature in iTunes, and after it was done i checked the created "Backup" folder and I find it way to small to be a complete backup of my phone (~13 GB as opposed to the fully used 64 GB on the phone). Is there something really obvious I'm missing with the backup feature in iTunes, does it not backup everything on the phone? Thankful for any advice and help that I can get, cheers in advance.

    4K footage

    I have an iPhone 7+ that shoots 4K at 30fps but the quality just doesn't seem like it's 4K. Is anyone else experiencing this, or am I just picky?

    From 400mb to 10gb free space when I connected my Iphone to Itunes?

    OF course its a good thing but I'm suspicious as to why this happened. I feel like some of my files got deleted? Because thats a HUGE amount of space.

    Anyway, i feel like this is because i used to have music on my phone but deleted them to free up space. And the music is still in my phone but now showing so it takes up space? Could it be the reason why? I looked at the itunes setting and the tickbox for "sync music" is checked.

    Why are those songs greyed out and its showing on "on my device" tab? Are those the one taking up space before? (but those songs doesnt take up 10gb) I cant delete them too.

    Way To Only Show Music on iPhone?

    Is there a way to only show the music on an iPhone by default when you open the Music app? I have bought only a few things on my Apple ID so everything I purchased is already on my phone. My wife, on the other hand, has purchased a lot of music over the years and has more than she can fit on her iPhone. I know she can press the Downloaded Music and it will show only what's stored on the phone. However, is there a way to make that the default view? She's on iOS 11.4.1

    In store - transfer old iphone to new iphone?

    Okay, so I have an iPhone 4 and this week I'm getting a new one. Ideally I would love to be able to just walk into the Apple store and have them transfer my old stuff onto a new iPhone.

    Is this just unrealistic or can they do this?

    Apple won't fix my iPhone X (Rant)

    This is the story of my iPhone X that Apple won't fix.

    TL;DR: I got a bad screen on my iPhone X and this is the story of me trying to fix that.

    So, to begin the story, it began with me buying the iPhone X. Where I live, at the time I bought it, the iPhone X cost me what is equivalent to 1600 USD. I bought the phone in November.

    I first had a "click" come from the lower left edge of the screen. This wasn't a big deal, but I still wanted to exchange it (I was within the 14 days of purchase, this is in Europe) and the store refused to because they "didn't have any stock".

    Not I'm not going to name this store, but they are probably the largest electronics retailer in Scandinavia.

    So eventually I went back because of this clicking. I was then told that they could send it in for repair, and I could get a loaner device. Sounds great, right? Well, no. There would be no guarantee of a fix, the loaner device was an iPhone 4, and it would take up to twenty days, if they have the parts to fix it..

    So I chose to keep it, enduring the issues, maybe occasionally going back but never really pressing the issue.

    But then, I started to see what is called "OLED banding". This got worse and is really really annoying, so I emailed the company with photos to double check. (Photos: https://imgur.com/gallery/H86pqZC but bear in mind that it was a long exposure, so it seems brighter than it actually is)

    This was bad. But I couldn't go without a phone for 20+ days, so I decided to visit an Apple store. I've seen multiple posts here on Reddit where someone has gotten the phone replaced because of this, so they should do the same with mine, right?

    (Spoiler, I'm wrong)

    So I found an apple store (Two hour train ride and in another country) and I decided to go there.

    So I book a Genius appointment (More than a week beforehand, that was the only ones they had) and I walk in, all smug, thinking "I'm going to get a brand new phone!"

    So I speak to the "Genius" and explain the clicking, and the screen quality, along with showing them photos of the banding with the serial number in the picture to prove it's this phone. So he takes it away to the back, and I'm sitting there, still smug, and excited. s

    So he comes back, and I hear the words I still hate today, "I don't see the problem".

    I'm confused, because it's immediately noticeable in the dark, and I explain exactly how to see it. He goes "mmhmm" (Obviously doubtful) and takes it away again.

    He comes back, ten minutes later, with the same verdict. What????

    I then try to show him the clicking issue. He tries, and says he can't hear it (He wasn't pressing on the right spot, but I wasn't going to correct him) so then I take the phone. I hold it up to his ear and I show him the clicking sound. His response? "Oh, well I can't verify how hard you're pressing on the screen"

    I then pull out that trusty photo (One with the serial number on a piece of paper next to it) and he says "I can't verify the issue" WTF????

    So I then escalate to the manager and have a similar conversation and I explain that I get it that they might not be able to see it but I've proven that I experience these problems and I have proof (Videos and photos of the phone with these issues) and he just says that "I think that, even if we replace the phone or screen, there will not be an improvement on what you have now"

    ????

    I had an early run model with a bad screen, and according to Apple, this is 100% normal and acceptable.

    Another ??????

    Sorry this was so long. Just a rant on how I lost the OLED lottery and can't get it fixed.

    How to read iPhone CPU Temperature on the phone itself?

    I have used an app on MacBook called CoconutBattery that when you plug in an iOS device you can read the internal phone temperature on the Mac, so I know it's possible hardware wise.

    Is there an app that lets you see the same temperature?

    Cracked my 6s... what to do now...?

    I've been using iphone 6s since it came out a few years ago. The battery life was going down although I had it replaced about 1.5 years ago. I was thinking of upgrading when the new iphone comes out in September/October.

    But... I dropped my phone yesterday and my screen is cracked. I don't know what to do at this point. Should I buy iphone x now? Should I repair my screen at apple for $149 and wait till September? Another option would be to repair my screen ($149) AND battery ($29) and use it for another year or so...

    I am not unhappy with 6s.. but at the same time i don't know if spending that much money on an old iphone is a good idea...

    What would you do in this situation?

    edit: This week, Target is offering $100 giftcard with a purchase of iphoneX or 8. There is also BOGO promotion which is better but I just need a phone for myself.

    Help! Find Friends is driving me crazy!

    We have Find Friends for my family. A while ago I saw there was an option for the app to automatically notify my wife when I left home. I chose that option one day when I didn't want to forget to let her know when I left home.

    Now it notifies her every single time I leave home. I can't find a way to turn it off. I've even revoked location sharing with her and took her off the "family". But as soon as I put her back, the notifications started again.

    Anyone have any suggestions as to what may be going on or how to stop this? It's making it very difficult to sneak out of the house. 😏

    Sprint jailbreak question

    Show duplicates in Apple Music Playlists

    Is there a way to show duplicate items in the Apple Music App? I know you can do it in iTunes, but it would be a nice feature to have when you're just making a playlist on the go and you don't have time to look at your computer.

    WTF GOVERNMENT OF INDIA!!?

    Okay so the Indian government has wanted to make this anti spam app and they want access to ones call logs and text messages. Apple being apple denied them access to them. I think apple did the right thing as the government has my fingerprints Iris scans my banking info and stuff like that. No need to give them more data. But now the government is threatening to de-list all iphones from their respective networks if apple doesn't budge. I really hope that it won't come to that. But seriously they're going through a hell of a lot of trouble for a shitty app

    Sound Quality

    Noticed that my Dad's iPhone 8 has better quality sound while listening to music with earbuds than my own iPhone 8. Both of our iPhones were bought on the same day so I wouldn't see any reason why it sound so much better on his iPhone than mine. Someone know how to fix this? His quality sounds more ambient and crystal clear with the earbuds. Mine on the other hand sounds really messy with the earbuds.

    Gif keyboard not showing up

    So I have recently noticed that in IMessages i now can't find the default Gif keyboard. So before when I tapped the app icon above the keyboard I would get a red magnifying glass thing, but now that doesn't show up. Any ideas for fixes?

    App for listening to study notes

    So I'm studying for an IT certificate and I have been taking notes in Google Docs and I want to be able to listen to my notes while I drive in my car to/from work. I can obviously turn the doc into a PDF so format isn't an issue I'm just hoping for suggestions for an app that I can use to convert the PDF into an audio file (one where I can turn off the screen to listen)

    Any suggestions is appreciated. It doesn't need to be free either. Thanks!

    Apple Music trial expired and now I can’t play any of my previously synced music

    My Apple Music trial recently expired and whenever I try to play a song that I previously purchased, a pop up shows up that says: "Play this and any other music you want".

    I tried removing the albums on iTunes and resyncing them but nothing changed.

    Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

    [Question] Is there anyway to unlock my deceased fathers iPhone password w/o losing data?

    I don't have iCloud info but I have the box w/ serial number and proof of purchase. I'm wondering if Apple can unlock it or tell me the password w/o resetting it.
