    Considering iPad Pro 12.9'' as laptop replacement - what about academic writing?

    Hey reddit,So here is my situation. I am a philosophy major in university writing my bachelor thesis this fall. I currently own a 5+ year old Lenovo laptop and an iPhone 6. My current laptop is extremely beat up and takes 10+ minutes to boot and I only use it when I am writing research papers/assignments. My iPhone is currently the device I use for 99% of my media and internet consumption (social media, writing e-mails, radio, web TV, films, music, searching and reading research articles). I have become increasingly frustrated with the small screen when consuming film/television or reading articles though, and I am thus considering upgrading to an iPad.

    So I am considering investing in the iPad Pro 12.9'' with a keyboard case as a replacement for both my iPhone (I have an oldschool prepaid phone as well) and laptop - I know it will be able to do the stuff I am already using my iPhone for, but what about my academic writing?

    I know that the iPad version of MS Word does not feature the reference/bibliography tools of the desktop version. Is there any way to work around this, either with another writing software with these features integrated or with an external reference manager? I heard EndNote for iPad is good (and integrates with the Pages app?), is that a good shout? Basically I want to hear of the options for serious writing on the iPad Pro that lives up to basic academic standards for citation and is fairly intuitive/not too tedious.

    iPad Pro 9.7 vs 2011 Macbook Pro for Light Video Editing?

    Hello all,

    I want to see if anyone has some advice moving forward. In the next year I am getting a car which I intend so spend some money modifying as a hobby and want to document some of the progress as well as take some short videos which I would need to edit. I have a 2011 Macbook Pro from college which still works (but not great though) and I have the 9.7 inch iPad Pro. which machine do you think would be more capable for light editing projects? I have also considered the idea of replacing the battery, upgrading the RAM and adding an SSD if I were to use the Macbook Pro as my main device. I want to know if the iPad is capable of this project or if I should stick to the computer. I appreciate any insight or feedback!

    iPad as a laptop replacement?

    I have an old 2012 Macbook that i want to get rid of cause it's getting very slow and don't want to upgrade the insides. so, looking to sell it and use my ipad pro as a laptop replacement.

    what are some of the most useful apps for ipad that i should be using if i'm going to be using it as my daily computer. The only thing i really used my computer for was downloading movies since apple doesn't allow that on ios like android.

    iOS 11 won't install on ipad mini. Please help.

    In Settings->SoftwareUpdate of an ipad mini 2 running iOS 9, I was able to download iOS 11. I can now click [Install Now], and type my 4 digit code. I see the spinning balls icon like things are processing. But then ....nothing. No error, no install, nothing.

    I've restarted and tried a few time now. Anyone have ideas on how to get this to work?

    Should I update from 11.1 to 11.4.1?

    My iPad Pro 10.5 is running pretty good on 11.1 with only minor glitches here and there. Battery is really good too. I am only concerned about the security updates in the new ios version. Both Meltdown and spectere have not been patched in 11.1. What are your expierences on 11.1? Worth the upgrade?

    Some iPad 2018 questions

    Hey guys!
    I never had an iPad so I might have some basic questions before purchasing one.

    Thinking about purchasing the iPad 2018 and an Apple Pencil
    I'm an animatior, illustrator and a music producer.
    I have a few questions regarding apps, usability and the Apple Pencil.
    1. How's the experience of drawing with it in Procreate?
    2. Is there any animation software out there that supports sound? What is the best one?
    3. Can the iPad run Garage Band smoothly like the iPad Pro?
    4. What other accessories should I get? (I'm getting the Apple Pencil for starters) - what are the better cases / screen protectors?

    Cheap skin of back of iPad Pro 10.5?

    I like the dBrand skins, but for the moment I haven't decided if I want to have the iPad in a case or not, so I'm just looking for something cheap (e.g. a clear skin) that keeps it from getting scratches when putting it on a table while using my Apple Smart Keyboard..

    Any ideas?

    Apple Pencil Charging iPad vs cable

    I've been using my iPad Pro w/Pencil for almost a year now and rarely charge the pencil through the iPad for longer than 5 minutes. Last month, I started charging it to 100% only via the iPad and noticed the battery life was noticeably shorter (30% remaining at the end of my 6 hour schedule). I started charging it again via lightning cable last week and the battery life is back to normal (~70% remaining) . Any one willing to test this?

    How to store and access files on iPad (not in an app or Dropbox)?

    I need to store some video files on my iPad. I don't want to use Dropbox as my Dropbox is nearly full.

    How can I store and access files on the iPad? I'm used to Windows and Android where I can just place files in a folder and navigate to that folder with a file browser. Not sure how to do this on iOS.

    How do I keep a pdf?

    Apple smart case alternative (front-cover-only case) for iPad Pro?

    dae find it disgusting how the topview picture of the standard 9.7" ipad on apples homepage is a laminated noairgap fraud? heck the bezels look thinner than irl like the pic is really tht of a ipadpro

    well at least theyre honest...it really is unlike any of YOUR computers, since all the macs u sell are laminated(or just forgo the glass like with the MBair...tht <70%srgb pos)
