Adjust "virtual" volume instead of using HDMI-CEC to adjust soundbar volume Posted: 20 Jul 2018 09:24 PM PDT Setup - Apple TV linked to my TV and Samsung soundbar, and 2 Sonos speakers through the house linked with AirPlay 2. Situation - When I play music through my phone, I can adjust the "virtual" volume of the Apple TV through my phone. If I ask Siri to play music or play music through the Apple TV to the soundbar and Sonos, it sets the "virtual" volume very high, and I am unable to adjust the volume of the Apple TV from my phone. I have to use the Apple TV remote to adjust the volume, which changes the actual volume setting on the soundbar. Problem - This makes me constantly have to adjust the level of the soundbar to sync up with my other Sonos speakers. I would MUCH prefer to leave the soundbar volume alone and adjust the "virtual" volume of all speakers. I don't like how different methods of streaming yield totally different volume settings. I tried turning the "volume control" setting to off instead of HDMI-CEC in hopes this would adjust the virtual volume, but nothing happens. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Can I get Atmos sound with 1080p video from the Apple 4K? Posted: 20 Jul 2018 12:15 PM PDT I'm (still) planning out my parent's theater room. I ran cable for a 7.2.4 setup just in case. However, they live in an internet dead zone and their top download speed is 10Mbps. With that in mind, they may not be able to stream 4K. Another potential limitation may be the display. I may go with a higher end 1080p projector instead of a low end 4K. With either or both of these possible limitations in mind, will Apple TV 4K allow me to use the Atmos soundtrack with a 1080p picture, or do 4K and Atmos go hand in hand? [link] [comments]
POP Now app launches on Apple TV Posted: 20 Jul 2018 07:21 AM PDT Doesn't appear to integrate with the TV app yet but it includes on-demand episodes of their original series (Schitt's Creek, Let's Get Physical, et al) as well as a live feed of the channel. Requires authentication from a cable/satellite/streaming service. [link] [comments]
Netflix app doesn’t support HDR? Posted: 20 Jul 2018 03:59 PM PDT I have a 4K HDR Samsung TV, and on it Netflix shows HDR content with this label. All works very well. I got the 4K ATV and now all HDR content like Stranger Things shows up as 'Dolby Vision'. My TV doesn't support DV, so the image quality looks washed out compared to the Samsung TV app. I contacted Netflix about this and they said this is how the app works on Apple TV and that it only shows Dolby Atmos and not HDR. I smell BS and wanted to hear about other experiences from others. [link] [comments]
What speed of HDMI is needed to avoid black screens Posted: 20 Jul 2018 02:26 PM PDT I recently got an Apple TV 4k and I periodically get a black screen when a show starts or sometimes during a show/movie. I recently upgraded my HDMI to a high speed 18 gbps cord, which was rated for 4k, but the problem remains. I see Apple sells one on their website thats apparently 48 gbps. Is this really what's needed? Other than the touchiness of the remote, we like the apple tv. [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 Jul 2018 03:50 PM PDT I'm looking forward to July the 31st, when Infinity War is released digitally. Is there any word if we will get Atmos for this release? /if the audio cuts out randomly will we receive refunds? [link] [comments]
Apple TV doesn't recognize my account?? Posted: 20 Jul 2018 11:13 AM PDT Just got the 4k thanks to the Directv Now promotion. This is my first Apple product so I created my account. Problem is the device isn't recognizing it. Gives me the No iTunes Store Account error? What am I doing wrong? [link] [comments]
